  1. I forget if I read this somewhere or heard it in one of my classes, despite Guerilla tactics being very affective throughout the 17-19th centuries, but were looked down upon for being copied from the "native savages". Marching in big lines doesn't matter so much when so few of the shots land, but I'd argue that most of those formations were obsolete by the time of the Civil War, and should've been dropped completely when repeating firearms first became common. That still leaves about half a century of foolery.
  2. Equestria was originally based off of North America, so I'd be more expectant of US standard, but they're ponies so maybe they can get something unique to them? But your AU occurring on a British Colony makes elongated possibly more suited given how needless it'd be to change local production. Using the same plate format keeps you from adding on or building a whole new manufacturing facility. I'd have to read into the reasons behind the shapes of license plates to have more of my foot down and I don't have the time for that, but I'd be interested to know their origins out of random curiosity!
  3. I once dreamed that the Mane 6 were fending off an invasion of mantis like creatures. It was an odd mix of cartoon ponies in a realistic dry pine forest setting. Small mantises would fly around in swarms, giant 10 foot tall ones would roam through the trees in search of prey, and everything in between would leap out from somewhere. They were quite exhausted and could hardly catch a break. Twilight was most affective with her magic though.
  4. Generally, but it's more of a treat than something I enjoy having all of the time. We've made it a tradition to eat at a specific seafood restaurant every winter Solstice now. Love Nigiri Sushi and plain Tuna sandwiches. Every clam chowder I've had has been low on clams and full of potatoes so I haven't had any that have wowed me. Ivar's puts bacon in their's now which means my pescetarian girlfriend can't have it. Definitely a downgrade, amdbtheir salmon chowder alternative is meh. Can't stand muscles.
  5. Occasionally, usually no more than a few amd I chew them thoroughly. Used to do it all the time as a teenager. My mom said it had something to do with craving iron which would make sense with her attempts to lesson meat consumption at the time and my growth spurts demanding all sustenance under the sun.
  6. Somewhat of a difficult question given that I'm not 100% sure what I want to do. I know I don't want to go any further in the Veterinary field than my current position as an assistant. I go back and forth between enjoying a relatively quiet life away from the stupidity of the world, and wanting to get out and do something to make it a better place. Later this year I'm going to look at what it would take to become a teacher, so that could be a step in coming out from under my moss covered rock, as lovely as it is. I think I'd like to retire with a Berry farm in my possession. I'll eat all that I can pick, and charge others to do the same.
  7. My favorite brand is a tie between Bass and Clarks. There is one type of shoe I like to wear which I guess are called Chelsea Boots? They're decent as a work boot but also look nice enough for formal occasions. plus I've never been good at tying my shoes, and these slip right on! These are a tad different than what I have, but this is generally what I go for. Mine are a darker brown too.
  8. @Splashee @Silly Druid Pegasus flag has 41 stars as well, but the Unicorn flag has only 40 diamonds, and technically Earth Ponies have just the 1 with the sun?
  9. I initially thought they could be representative of the Unicorns that were directly in charge of raising the sun and moon, but that's underrepresentative of the different races. Then I thought with a lot of seriousness, that it could be the original number of delegates that attended the grand summit of the three pony tribes to discuss the issue/root cause of the blizzard in Season 2, Episode 11, "Hearth's Warming Eve which at the end also shows us the Equestrian flag for the flvery first time. That event would also very likely be the precursor to the Grand Equestrian Pony Summit we see in Season 5, Episode 10, "Princess Spike", which then hosts over 50 delegates, among them a Griffon, showing just how inclusive and diverse the nation has become since its founding, even prior to the heavy influx of other sentient species in the latter half of the series. But there's a catch! That 28 starred flag isn't the Equestrian Flag. This 41 starred one is. And this simple diagram I found on Google images shows something that makes a lot of sense given the presence of the Royal sisters. The blue background representing the day, and the stars representing the night. It's so straight forward, that I don't think I can personally interpret it differently now, and this is only aided by how random some of the star placement is.
  10. "Island in the Sun" by Wheezer. It has a low kind of relaxed sound to it overall but is also upbeat and hopeful. It was playing a lot during a part of my life where I felt low and was one of the few seemingly good things. It's something to play when things are good or bad.
  11. How Different Would Your Life Be? I used to read quite a bit, and have a decent little library in my home. But I buy maybe 5 books every year, and read only 1 of them. I think I'd maintain my old reading habits, still have a computer for movies and maybe some games. All my time reading articles amd watching hour after hour of YouTube would be put towards that and other projects. More of my art ideas would become reality, but I'd also have less original stories circling my head. Perhaps one would have finally made it to paper by now. Would I have ever met my girlfriend through the job I saw advertised online 4+ years ago? It'd be an odd mix of being more productive but knowing so much less. Personality Different? The internet has certainly lowered my attention span significantly, and it bothers me knowing I'm typing out this long of a response, and that I wouldn't have the patience to read it if it were someone else's, short of being the creator of the topic. And although it may be easier to hold my attention, my interactions with people online have taught me to be much more patient towards others, and those two characteristics go a bit hand in hand in many situations. My best guess is that it would balance out and I'd be the same more or less. Struggle to Adjust? It would be an absolute struggle, but maybe not as much for myself as it would be for others. I relied on Wifi up until 2019 when I moved out and got my own phone plan. That's recent enough where i can easily recall trying to get online at a McDonald's out of desperation. Other Thoughts? I cant emphasize this enough, even though its just an opinion. One aspect that would make things not all that different from how they are, is how much the internet has benefited from Smart Phones. France introduced Milinet in 1982, and the World Wide Web was released in 1991. A simple majority of American households didn't have internet access until 2000. In my own experience, we didn't have it till 2003 when we subsequently set up a home computer. Even then, we predominantly used offline features more often until about 2010. Instead we were reading books, watching cable, playing CD Rom or offline consoles, using portable DVD and music players, ect. The first sign of change was the iPod, which allowed us to listen to music, audiobooks, and watch movies and shows. Rather than download these from online, they'd be copied/burned from a disk onto the computer, then put on the iPod via a cable. Combining these with a typing application and the ability to take pictures, call and text, tell time and a fricken calculator was naturally the next step. The usefulness of a device like this is nearly immeasurable, and that's without the internet! The touch screen aspect makes it a more personal experience because all of this isn't at the touch of a button, but at your finger tips! Not to mention you've theoretically done away with a need for paper if you can digitally draw and erase. Simply plug your device to a printer and you need only have the final draft physically in your possession. We may use the internet more now, near constantly, but without the smart phone, I honestly think it would be seen more as a tool than an essential part of life. But we'd all still be walking around with our faces glued to screens. You're watching the pre-recorded game or whatever instead of streaming is all.
  12. Puss In Boots: The last Wish Thought it was going to be a money grab made for 5 year Olds until I watched Saber Spark's review. Friend of mine invited me to go see it in Theaters, and I liked it so much that I went back a second time to watch with my girlfriend.
  13. My girlfriend has one but we haven't had cable since moving to our current place and it's just been stowed in a closet. I do so much on my phone these days that even when I saved up to buy a new laptop because my old one stopped working, I've barely used it. I even received a tablet and a smart watch as gifts over the holidays and I've never touched them because my phone just does everything! I do plan for us to get a decent sized TV when we live elsewhere that's better for having company over for movies and whatnot.
  14. There was a comedic song called "Lellow Lamp" on YouTube about a guy that loves his lamp only for it to be abusive towards him I think? It's weirdly specific and used to be easy to find but I think it's gone forever. Managed to find it posted on another site once but it couldn't play and had no additional information, piece of childhood gone. Another is my final project about the war in Afghanistan for my AP Government Class. I wasn't a very good student, but I stayed up for 3 nights straight to complete it, also had 30 something sources which was 3 times more than anyone else in class, not to mention another dozen from my partner. Even used some declassified documents for it and my teacher learned some things he hadn't known. Got an A and was so proud of it. It was all digital and when I graduated I hadn't saved it off of my school Google drive which was deleted.
  15. Crap, I'm outside at work! A nasty wet rug and a handful of snow. Basically one last cold drink I have to consume immediately, and something that'll keep me off the sand at night after I give it a soak in the ocean,,, great.
  16. After having already allocated a part of my earnings to savings and coming under budget in other areas, I'll buy myself MRE components and small plastic dinosaur toys that I'll find in random shops. Occasionally I'll get my girlfriend a dress or shirt as well.
  17. Plain bagels as is or toasted with peanut butter and banana slices, or a cheesy one with marinara sauce.
  18. It varies. I think it snows at least 4 times a year where I'm at in the Pacific NW, and averages 1.5 to 2 feet total. There's usually 2 big snow days with a half to to full foot of snow that hangs around for 2 weeks and then a few couple and half inchers that melt within a day or so. One year we had like 3 to 4 feet in one go and the roads were all closed.
  19. When making a PB&J sandwich, apply your choice of "J" to the bread slice first. Scrape off whatever extra there is in the rim of the container, then wipe clean on the second slice if bread, and reuse it for your peanut butter. Now you've only used one knife! Jams and Jellies have a higher moisture content than peanut butter, and bread is quite absorbent. When making a PB&J for later, make sure your peanut butter is on the bottom. This will prevent the bread from becoming soggy. Although it's lower, peanut butter does still contain moisture, and will dry out over time as the bread absorbs it. The peanut butter side of bread wont become soggy, but you can expect a non-refridgerated sandwich to have noticeably degraded after 24 hours. PB&Js are a relatively soft food, storing them in a reusable plastic container instead if a plastic bag, is both better for the environment, amd will prevent your sandwich from getting smushed. This will also allow you to pack it alongside items that might otherwise have damaged them. The next 3 will cover an exchange of ingredients or an adjustment to the recipe. Toasting your bread prior will add a satisfying crunch to your sandwich, and if you're an oddball like me, this will prevent your sandwich from falling apart so quickly from dipping it in milk. A good alternative to bread for PB&J is a flour tortilla. Simply apply the spreads on either side and roll it up like a burrito. Tortillas have a smoother surface, so things will attempt to squish their way out. Leave some space for them to spread, and use the peanut butter as a sealant to keep your burrito from unraveling. These are also less fragile than a sandwich, and are easier for packing on the go. However, the same rules apply for how the moisture content of the spreads will interact over a 24 hour period. There is already quite a variety of Jams and Jellies to choose from, and we should all be aware of the creamy, regular, and crunchy options for peanut butter. While no longer staying completely true to the PB&J formula, one may also use sliced fresh fruit, chocolate syrup, Nutella, honey, and I've even heard a good few like to add plain ol butter. For myself, Bananas are a personal favorite. Starting to think I should start a YouTube channel on this,,,
  20. Firstly, she's an Alicorn Princess, Starlight's not. She'll always have a naturally higher magical output. Honed technique and cunning are the only means around this. I'll refer to my military analogy from before. Second, I'm going to take two excerpts from Silver Quill's video, After the Fact: Two Worlds, regarding an alternate timeline from The Cutie Re-Mark. Nightmare Moon has been shown to be more than capable of taking out any and all opposition, and the only difference between her and Luna is personality. Between herself and Starlight, Luna is the more powerful of the two. Victory however, will be achieved by whomever is most determined, and whomever implements their abilities more effectively.
  21. I think it really depends on the situation. Luna is clearly far more powerful, but even an infantryman with an explosive can take out a tank. Starlight's advantage is that she's arguably the most pragmatic character on the show, and this is given a bonus that Luna is afraid of what her own powers are capable of, resulting in her being over confident, while also holding back. In an even setting where they both simply have the objective to defeat the other without moral obligations getting in the way, Luna wins without question.
  22. @abrony-mouse Did everything suggested prior, and ended up "dining in" with a heart shaped pizza.
  23. Split between two. The clock on the stove because you can't read it unless you're directly in front of it. That's just how it is, poor design. The other is our ceiling fans in the restrooms. They're designed to automatically turn on when moisture is detected to help with the humidity and splashed of the showers or whatever. Not the worst concept, except that there's always a form of sitting eater present with the toilets! So the fans have never been off in the nearly three years we've been here.
  24. Frasier, Alf, Eureka, Terra Nova, Land of the Lost, possibly Outer Limits? Been a long time since seeing any of these too. I'm sure there's a few more.
