7:30 in the morning doesn't sound too bad to me, even if I were partying the night before (when you work early mornings/graveyard, you learn how to moderate your drinking when you go out so you're not hungover, anyway). I'm tempted to mention this to a number of the people in the SoCal meetup group, as they, too, are looking for a place to get together during the con, but it's early in the morning and I'd feel rude for causing a potential hijack of a mlpforum meetip.

Oh yeah, the fandom is a hot mess, it always has been, especially when pitted against MLPs which, in most instances, seems to have some loose organization.

It seems that "troll" has become synonymous with "anyone who disagrees with you." (Think of accusing someone as "trolling" if they tell you they prefer oranges when you mention liking bananas). I always assumed a legitimate troll was someone who went out of their way to cause trouble/grief/drama. But this was in the before time, in the long, long ago.

If I recall correctly, Hussie has changed/deleted (or at least abandoned) several of his "official" social networking stuff. Occasionally, I get notices from the MSPA game kickstarter, but finding any updates usually involves going through everything with a fine toothed comb. There is a particular Homestuck cosplayer on tumblr that I remember, because his logic was ridiculous. I believe he usually cosplayed John, and maybe Jake (possibly Karkat, too). He was known to rip on people's cosplays constantly, as well as berate anyone who crossplayed (or at least, he berated all of the girls cosplaying male characters), or Rule 63 cosplays. Then he got into Attack on Titan and started cosplaying a female Titan and I think Annie Leonhardt. It was cray cray. I also went to a Rocky showing that was completely ruined by a bunch of obnoxious/rude Homestuck cosplayers. I was bumming a ride from someone on staff and they would not leave, which sucks since staff can't leave until everyone is gone.

Potential unpopular opinion, here: My advice to anyone new is to stay away from tumblr, save for the art/occasional ask blog, it's mostly just a bunch of people who need to check their privileges while checking others, and insisting their "headcanons" are better than everyone else's. Also, a lot of the cosplayers on tumblr are really, really rude/nasty. They have an unwarranted sense of self-importance and think they're ~the best~ at putting on a pair of glasses and a T-shirt. Admittedly, tumblr was probably the reason I became more of a closet Homestuck fan and was more open about being into My Little Pony, since this fandom (on and off tumblr), has a lot less unpleasant people. I'd say 50% of my experiences with Homestuck people were bad, while I've probably never had a particularly bad experience with bronies.

Likewise. Also, I'm pretty sure we're going to get Namco High 2 before the Homestuck game is released.

People who come on really, really strong, if only because I often find myself being pressured/caged and as a result, growing stressed just from being next to them. Anyone at work who says "It's not my job" are pretty obnoxious, too. Just because it's poor work ethic, and more often than not, it's these people who make me do a lot more work.

I actually did a double take when I was told about it at a meetup, since, as Simon had mentioned, there was supposed to be alcohol on the party floor.

I also might be going as Japanese Schoolgirl Twilight Sparkle. I kind of wanted to do meido Fluttershy, but I'd have to get a custom dress (most of the yellow made outfits I saw weren't a color I liked) and that would just take too long.
