Hello, my crowd!  I can't seem to crunch the numbers fast enough~

 Not much happened over this previous week. No big events. My lawn mower is acting strange, so I need to get it serviced. But that shouldn't be too hard of a fix. 

 Pop culture stuff! First off; wow. An actually GOOD Superman trailer?! After the first two kept opening up with Superman beaten to a bloody pulp, I was wondering if we were gonna get something better or not. Ironheart was announced; and people hate it all ready. Personally, I think I want to watch these shows and make up my own mind.

 I recently saw the first season of The Mandalorian.  It's okay. It's hard to explain how I feel whenever I see any Star Wars project that isn't part of George's vision. All I can say is; while this show may have some minor corny moments, if I had seen this as a kid, I would have loved it. It's practically the show any Boba Fett fan would have wanted, even though this isn't actually about Boba Fett.

 Sonic Boom S2 45-48: Eggs Over Seasoned.  I think the funniest thing about Eggman turning into a cute little Pokémon is that he didn't even get to use it for its intended use, as a means to defeat Sonic. By the end of 46, I don't know what Amy was so upset about. They actually learned a lesson, and they didn't rely on the old trope of making the token female take care of the baby. In 47, does inventing a social media site that everyone loves then taking it down count as an evil supervillain plan? Some might think it does. I was expecting a battle scene from that! And we end this session with an Egg Family episode, with the only saving grace being the return of the Roboken heroes. Whoopie~

TOKUSATSU MUSIC HIGHLIGHT:

"Jounetsu ~We Are Brothers~" (Passion ~We Are Brothers~) by Hero Music All Stars.

We're not out of 2012 just yet, my crowd! 
"Super Hero Taisen" (Super Hero War) was the first, proper, and official crossover between Sentai and Rider. Well, there were other crossovers, but none like this. It came out in the middle of Fourze and Go-Buster's run on television, but Gokaiger was the previous year's TV show, so this was really the last hoorah for the anniversary series. More specifically, it was the 10th Anniversary of Super Hero Time, the programing block dedicated specifically to Super Sentai and Kamen Rider. And how did they celebrate it? By making history. And while Fourze and the Go-Busters did have a part in the story; make no mistake, this movie was about the Gokaigers VS Kamen Rider Decade, the two most recent anniversary shows for the two brother franchises.

Since this movie was the last outing for these anniversary shows (for a while at least), Toei studios decided to make it a multi-generational crossover. All the previous Sentai VS All the previous Riders, at least until they join forces at the end. Hard to believe it took this long. Kamen Rider started in 1971, and Super Sentai started in 1975. Both properties owned by Toei, yet it took them 37 years (give or take) to make this happen. And when they did, they didn't over market it with a bunch of new toys, new super forms, or anything. Mostly just this song; a ballad for fans of all generations that grew up together watching and loving both shows, fittingly sung by various artists who have made Sentai and Rider theme songs throughout the years. These two hero franchises have saved the world side by side, the various annual characters never knowing of each other's existence. They just coexisted as brothers in justice; meeting each other at last. And the ones who grew up loving them, making fond memories with them throughout the ages, are brothers in fandom. This movie was a celebration and a lifetime achievement for everyone. And if you're a fellow tokusatsu fan reading this right now (no matter what your gender is), then we are brothers too.

Hey there, my crowd!  Hopefully, the wait for this was worth it!

 I didn't just celebrate one holiday this past week, I celebrated two! My uncle's birthday and Mothers Day, which happened nearly on the same day. It's kind of hard to celebrate since we both put more emphasis on my uncle's birthday, and it wasn't long ago that my mother had hers. But I was able to do some things that made her happy as well. Simple things, but it's the thought that counts, and she likes the simple things just as much. 

 Sonic Boom S2 41-44: Comedy but Compelling.  In 41, I am not sure if I should find it weirdly fitting or strange that Eggman's fortress is somehow more dangerous than his actual plans. Didn't care for the episode where Eggman goes back to school, but I wonder if the song is free to use on YouTube... A multiverse episode in a comedy is strange; but it did sort of remind of SatAM, so I am sure some fans liked it for that. And in 44, was not expecting a tribute to The Fly, but on the upside, this episode was a way more compelling robotization story than whatever happened in Sonic Lost World.

 MOVIE TIME!  I recently saw Batman Ninja VS Yakuza League. Admittedly, I was skeptical since the first movie gave me mixed feelings. However, this movie was a thousand times better than the first! We got Justice League members reimagined in the best Japanese way, a classic anime moment, a traditional Japanese song moment, and so much more! I absolutely loved it. Furthermore, this movie shows a direction that DC superheroes are starting to go down. They'll be designed with a lot of suit details and stuff; like something you might see in the movies. They'll have their serious story moments and character moments too. Then out of nowhere, they'll have their goofy and silly moments, but it's never at a detriment to the plot. To me, this is the best way to leverage the serious stories many fans want with the goofier side of the source material. It can be tonal whiplash at times, and it it can be annoying to many; but I really think it's the best way to go. I've been seeing this style in more DC titles lately; and I think it really is for the best.
