It's a habit you have to form when you're awake. If you keep doing "reality checks" when you're awake, it'll become a habit that carries over into your dreams. I've had dreams where I couldn't control myself, too. One that was extremely realistic, but odd, was the one where I was in Walmart eating a blue plastic plate. I was afraid of what it would do to my insides, but I couldn't stop myself. I had to fold the plate back and forth to break it, and the...

and that dream sounds painfull :/ I have many weird dreams, one caused me to become afraid of killerwhales because I dreamed that I went to get my little brother from the childrens pool and the water came to our knees and then there was a killerwhale that tried to kill us both and he almost ate my little brother... it was so hyper realistic and yet so strange...
