Celestia and the other princesses might be slowly narrowing down qualified gaurds from their own staff to personally gove to Twilight when they believe she is ready to be a leader for those whom are actually there to try and make her life easier. We know she is perfectly capable of being a good level headed leader during the time when the princesses where MIA with the gaurds approaching her for orders on What to do. The Princesses wheren't there to witness this for obvious reasons (IE getting sent to hell) and Due to that They had no way of seeing her quickly get into action on what needed to be done. Hell While we are at it Shining Armor and Cadance really should be forcing this gaurd thing considering they are legitly her relatives and Shining is the captain of the gaurds so he should have a good idea on who is spareable to send to his sister on account of the crystal empire being peaceful. Either way this will probably be dealt with next season at some point since the main focus right now is her ajusting to her role as Princess with summets, meetings, etc. Spike Will still continue to be her assistant since she will never replace him since he is the one Twilight personally taught to be her assistant exactly so nobody can never take his place.
