  1. The definition of "anime" depends on your own interpretation. In Japan, as someone mentioned before, anime refers to any kind of animation, whether Japanese, western, or otherwise. In fact, the word "anime" is just a short form of the word "animation", just as Japanese use "terebi" as the short form of "television". Outside of Japan, or at least in the English speaking world, anime is generally referred to as Japanese or Japanese style animation only. Personally, when I think of anime, I think of any Japanese or asian style animation in general, whether it is actually produced in Japan or not. What annoys me is when people say an anime isn't a cartoon. If you go by the Japanese definition of anime, they are the exact same thing. In fact, even if you go by the western definition of anime, it still falls under the definition of a cartoon according to the Merriam Webster dictionary: "a film or television show made by photographing a series of drawings : an animated film or television show"
  2. I'm planning on going to the September 27th (11am) showing and hopefully meeting up with some bronies from the North Florida Bronies Facebook group. If anyone is in the South Georgia/North Florida area and wants to join us, here's the theater's address: Carmike 12 1820 Town Center Blvd. Fleming Island, FL 32003 I merged your thread with an existing one since it's essentially the same topic.
  3. The subject of this topic has little potential to spark discussion between many members and, as such, would be better suited to a status update or a blog. When creating a thread, please remember that the goal is to start a conversation with room for many people to chime in and give their own viewpoints on, and that sharing events of an anecdotal nature would be better done elsewhere.

  5. Fashems! I found these at Dollar General in the US. I've seen reviews of the Fashems before and they usually come in little containers, but this is the first time I've seen them in plain packaging. Also, these are the first Fashems I've seen with accessories. I've been curious about the regular ones, so when I saw these, I had to get them. Here they are out of the package and all dressed up. I had a little trouble getting Twilight's crown thingy positioned correctly because of the way her hair is moulded and Rainbow Dash doesn't stand correctly with her cape on. I also noticed some kind of numbers and markings on their hair and ears and the paint job could have been better, but regardless of all the flaws, I still think they're really cute. Also, just a minor thing, but I thought it was strange enough to mention. Rainbow Dash's wings are attached to her body, but Twilight's are only attached to her hair for some reason. Also, I was kind of expecting these to be "super squishy" like those stress balls that you can squish almost flat, but these seem more solid. You may be able to squish them out of proportion, but I'm afraid to try it. The hair piece seems to be separate, or partially separate, so I don't want to risk tearing it off.
  6. Nice find! Personally, I'm not very interested in the dolls, but I may get one of the fully jointed ones, if I can find any. I wonder if the dolls will fit in the car. I know the non-jointed ones won't because they would be stuck standing up, but it would be cool if the jointed ones would. Also, I have the Octavia plushie, but I still need a few others to complete my collection, including Derpy and Cheerilee.
  7. Oh my gosh! I already love the Aurora plushies and these accessories are so cute! I'm definitely getting these if I can. By the way, they appear to be on ToyWiz as well and they're going for $18.99 USD.
  8. Hello fellow original member! :D (Just wanted to say hi since I saw one of your old posts)

  9. I have an Apple Bloom and a Diamond Tiara blind bag figure on my shelf that I have displayed in a certain position, pointed toward each other as if they're talking. Every day Apple Bloom seems to change her position so she's looking away from Diamond Tiara. I've told my family and no one claims to be moving them. I don't believe in the paranormal, but it's starting to creep me out. None of my other figures have been moved.

  10. Personally, I love Vocaloid, so I would rather hear that, but of course, that's just my opinion. You have to do what works best for you and the song you're trying to produce. So, which would you actually prefer using? If you prefer a human voice, you may be able to ask around the brony community. There are a lot of talented brony vocalists and they often collaborate on different songs. You may be able to get someone to do it for free if you ask nicely enough. (and get lucky) Though there are drawbacks with that as well. Most brony vocalists aren't professionals and as a result, they don't sound quite as good as professionals.
  11. So uh... I was going to post this in the "Post Your Collection" thread, but it's not really about my entire collection and it kind of turned into a crafting tutorial of sorts, so I think it fits better as a blog entry. Anywho, I've posted my current collection in the above mentioned thread, and if you've seen the pictures, you may have seen some MLP beach towels laying on a table. Well, that's not where I wanted them to be. I wanted to display them properly, but towels aren't like posters. You can't just hang them up on a wall, so I came up with a solution. For anyone else who has any of the MLP beach towels, if you've wondered how to display them, here is what I did. Basically, I have them attached to clips and hanging from wooden rods on my doors, kind of like tapestries. If you're interested in how I did it, see the instructions below: Things You Will Need (and where I got them) Small wooden dowel rod - $0.50~$1- Jo-Ann Fabrics and Crafts Medium size binder clips - $1~$2 - Walmart Clothes hanger - $0 - My closet (or over-the-door hangers if you can find some that are the proper shape) Tools You May Need Needle-nose pliers Wire cutting pliers Razor knife Instructions Bend the clothes hanger straight. Start at one end and using a pair of needle-nose pliers, bend the hanger into the shape of a hook. Make sure it fits snugly over the top of the door and has a loop on the end just big enough to hold the wooden rod. Cut the hanger with the pliers (or wire cutters) once you have the desired length. Bend a tiny loop in the very end of the hook (opposite of the rod) so it won't scratch your door when you put it on or remove it. When you're done, it should look something like the the picture below. You'll need to make two hooks for each door. Measure the width of the door and cut the wooden rod just a bit shorter so if it slides a little, it won't catch the door frame. To cut the rod, lay it on a flat surface and using the razor knife, press the blade against it while rotating the rod to create a scoring line. After going all the way around, press deeper and rotate a few more times. Now, depending on the diameter of the rod, you should be able to break it off. Cut off any remaining splinters to make it smooth. Sand the edges if desired. When done, you should be able to hang the rod on the hooks like so, and you should be able to open and close your door. Attach binder clips to the towel and slide them onto the rod. Hang the rod on the hooks, and you're done! You can also use this same method to hang them on a wall. You'll just have to find a way to hang the rod, possibly by attaching a string to both ends and hanging it on a hook or nail.
  12. I'd say anyone who sticks around for more than a year or two is a veteran. In that case, anyone from 2011-2012 would be a veteran, in my opinion, which would make you one.
  13. Every time I go to make a simple YouTube comment, it ends up looking like an essay. I think I need to stick to forums. http://prntscr.com/4j38j3

  15. If you go by the generally accepted definition that bronies and pegasisters are anyone outside of the target demographic who likes the show, then I'd say they're not really. They might qualify if they were boys because from what I've seen, especially with the toys, the target demographic is young girls from something like 5-10 years old. Then again, as Envy said, the terms 'brony' and 'pegasister' are just labels. They can call themselves that if they want to, but since they're pretty much within the target demographic, I doubt anyone else would call them that. Also, if they choose to use those labels, it doesn't matter which one they use. Some girls call themselves bronies and others prefer pegasister. It doesn't matter, really.

  17. I suppose I qualify as a veteran member. I was the 37th member to join, so you could say I'm one of the oldest active posters. Finesthour! I haven't seen you in forever!
  18. This intrigues me. I could create something like this, but I'll need to make a thread for it so people can submit locations and what they sell. I don't have time right now, but I'll be thinking about it and I may come up with something.
  19. @, We already have a Minecraft general discussion thread that you can post servers in. We would rather all servers be posted in this thread rather than individual threads, so I have merged yours with it.
  20. Please do not post a thread unless you have a subject to discuss. If you must express the fact that you don't have anything to discuss, please post it as a status update.
  21. There are plenty of things you can do, such as: Discuss stuffEpisodes, music, fandom stuff Maybe play some games like trivia or charades using your knowledge of the show Find a good cause and have a fundraiserIt will make your club look good and will get the word out to potential recruits You can sell donuts or other snacks, or just ask for donations to a good cause Donate funds to a local charity or give it to Bronies For Good. Take some pictures of your work. If you donate a large enough amount, you may be able to get some publicity on Equestria Daily. Do some craftingBuy some pony figures, some paint, clay, etc. and make some custom ponies Plan some outingsGo to a local park, restaurant, etc. Try LARPing (Live Action Role Play) Have CCG (Collectable Card Game) tournamentsHave prizes for the winners Have a cosplay contestObviously you don't want to or can't walk around school in cosplay, but you can bring an outfit and put it on in the clubroom That's all I can think of off the top of my head. Whatever you do, if you do anything in public, PLEASE be courteous to other people. I'm just saying that because I've seen too many videos of groups of bronies being obnoxious in public and no one likes obnoxious bronies. I think most of all, if you do some kind of fundraiser or public service it can make your club look good and inviting to others. Anyway, my school doesn't have any clubs, let alone a brony club, so I wish you the best of luck with yours.
  22. There was already an existing thread on favourite pony songs/brony songs, so while your introduction is great, I had to merge yours with the existing one. Please be sure to use the search function in the future to check for existing threads before starting new ones. As for my favourite songs, that's difficult. There are so many, I'm not sure anymore. I know my favourite show song used to be Smile Smile Smile, but there are so many other good ones now, I just don't know. Same with brony music. My favourite artist used to be MandoPony, but now I don't have a favourite. I guess if there's any that come to mind, though, I'd have to say BlackGryphon, Aviators, Alex S, The Living Tombstone, Silva Hound, Sim Gretina. Most anything by those guys is good.
  23. I haven't posted here in a while because I had to move about a year ago and I just got around to getting everything set up again. I still haven't put all of my posters up, so you'll see some sitting around, but all of my other merchandise is set up, so I went ahead and took some pictures. So this is the current state of my MLP collection. Closet door: dog tags, keychains Top of shelf: boxed ponies, custom ponies, rare trading cards, mini figure sets Top and middle shelves: plushies! Bottom shelf: colouring books, activity books, other books, trading cards, CCG cards, Activity sets Top of shelf: play sets, princess ponies, various other ponies, couple of mini figure sets, pins Top shelf: custom merch, McDonald's ponies, other ponies 2nd from top shelf: various merchandise, Design-a-Pony's 3rd from top shelf: Memory game, trading card tins/boxes, lunch boxes Bottom shelf: puzzles, BronyCon photo album, accessory drawers Top shelf: Fashion Style ponies Other shelves: standard brushable ponies, IDW comics Table: beach towels Wall: lanyards, convention badges, Christmas stocking Wall: WeLoveFine.com bags Lamp: bag from Hot-Topic Wall: Posters, mostly from BronyCon. Some signed by artist Random blind bag ponies, Littlest Pet Shop figures Top shelf: MLP DVDs, mane six blind bags and brushables (my first pony merch ever) Other shelves: blind bags. Each shelf contains one wave of blind bags in the order they are numbered in the set. If I don't have one, I leave the space empty until it is filled. Another towel, coin banks, Baltimore shot glass, mini-fridge covered with MLP/WeLoveFine stickers. That's about it for now. I also have two more plushies and a plush throw, but I keep them on my bed. I just got a job, so I should be able to start expanding my collection again soon.
  24. @@jreidsma, My house from the old Brohoof server is still on there! It's ponyhome7 and it's for sale. And that Sugarcube Corner I helped build. Oh gosh, this brings back memories...
