  1. I don't recall mentioning Celestia's missing parents once or mentioning Celestia AT ALL for that matter. Your arguing that because Twilight's parents have been confirmed to exist they don't need to be mentioned. What about Rainbow Dash and Fluttershy's parents, they've never been seen or even mentioned to exist even when they were in Cloudsdale, are you going to call them shoehorned in when they do appear and claim the Pegasi were always orphans? I "justify" the fact that Shining Armor was never mentioned by Twilight the same way I justify her never talking about her parents, they were never relevant to the conversation. Do you bring your siblings (assuming you have any) up in casual conversation all the time when it's not relevant? I don't.
  2. You can make all the justifications you want, but your still cherry picking what you want to be canon. Applejack needed to have a relative in Appaloosa to justify the trip, Sweetie Belle was already a Hasbro property so they needed to shoehorn her in somewhere. I know the CMCs appeared in the first episode, so where was Sweetie Belle's parents? They weren't present either, if Sweetie Belle is from Ponyville, then it stands to reason that their parents are from Ponyville, so how come we don't see them outside of Sisterhooves Social? Aren't they shoehorned in too? What about Twilight's parents? They were only mentioned in Cutie Mark Chronicles and in A Canterlot Wedding, how come she never talks about visiting them? She never mentions them or Shining Armor because they are not relevant to the plot and the writers can't predict what the series is going to be like 2-3 seasons down the road. If you want to call it shoehorning fine, but don't act like they haven't been adding new characters all time or new locations or new concepts.
  3. What's your point? Sweetie Belle wasn't mentioned to be Rarity's sister until over halfway into Season 1 and she lives in the same town, I don't recall Braeburn appearing at the Apple Family Reunion either. Both of these characters have connections with members of the Mane 6 yet neither are mentioned by their relatives even once before they appear? It's almost as if they were "gasp" shoehorned in order to make the story work. Back on topic, can't stand Mmmmystery on the Friendship Express.
  4. 28 if you count that as old. I do feel like we've been getting a lot of younger fans lately and it's making me feel like a senior compared to everyone else.
  5. This The producer of a webcomic posted a link saying it was the only thing missing from his comic's punchline. I didn't understand what I was looking at until I checked the tags. I was more interested in the fact that MLP was still around (thought it had died out years ago) but quickly found out that it was being produced by the someone who worked on Foster's. So I watched the premier of Over a Barrel out of curiosity. Loved it and then found out many other guys love it too, the rest is history.
  6. I'm curious as to what you liked about the Aristocats, I thought it was the most unoriginal Disney movie I'd ever seen. O'Malley was just Baloo in a cats body (same VA and all) and the plot was 101 Dalmations rehashed with cats.
  7. That's not entirely true. She did script concepts for all of season 2, even going as far as to create Cadence (albeit, as a Unicorn). Her hand was in season 2 for every episode, season 3 will truly be the first season without her. I have confidence that Jayson, Wootie and Meghan are up to the challenge.

  9. It sounds like you've changed not Disney. I gave two you examples showing Disney hasn't given up on traditional animation and you brush them off as unimpressive. This one is a few years older, but perhaps it's more your style.: Found on The Little Mermaid DVD, if this one doesn't make you cry, you have no soul http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yUSzQBaWq0Q
  10. Well I'm living in a natural disaster right now. I posted on the last page on how my town was nearly hit by a wild fire 6 years ago, well it's happening again. There is a fire dangerously close to the town, evacuations are just on the outskirts but it's not looking good. It's 1 AM in the morning and I don't feel like going to bed anytime soon.
  11. To be honest I'd never heard of Lenore. Sorry if I came on a little strong, tt's just that judging an animated program based soley on the medium used to create it (which I guess you weren't doing) is something that easily sets me off. If you want to see what Disney has been doing with tradtional animation lately, take a look at these. Shown with Winnie the Pooh last year http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Eaf_NWTiMDM Shown with National Treasure 2 back in 2007 http-~~-//www.youtube.com/watch?v=3TYCVUtkwxw
  12. No originality? Bolt and Tangled relied heavily on backgrounds that were designed to look painted, the former going for a classic Americana look inspired by Edward Hoppers' painting, if that's not originality and dare I say, art, I don't know what is. As for story, you are aware that over half of all Disney animated films are based on pre existing material of somekind? You know what is cliche? Disney in general. The villian almost always falls off of something do his death, the guy always gets the girl and the girl is always (at least in the 90s) head strong and doesn't mesh with the role society thinks she needs to fill. But I don't care how cliche it is as long as the chararacters are interesting and resonate with me on some level. For me Disney has one thing going for it that I don't believe it has ever lost. Heart, of the 51 released films no Disney film has lacked that to me, and I watched every one over the past 8 months. Even a medicore film like Chicken Little or (for me) the worst of them all The Aristocats, which was nothing but a combination of the Jungle Book's Baloo in cat form (even the same VA) combined with a 101 Dalmations style story (that is what I call a lack of originality) had heart.
  13. A good is a good movie regardless of how it was made. I don't care if a movie is made using traditional hand drawn, CGI, Clamation or Flash, and all types have varying styles depending on the studios and animators making and even in the same studio. Does Ice Age look anything like Rio made by the same studio? Does Tangled look anything like Meet the Robinsons? My two favorite Disney movies are The Lion King and Bolt, one CG and one traditionally animated and I don't my base enjoyment of either on how they were made, I base it on the characters and stories being told
  14. John Lasseter has been the Executive Producer for every Disney animated movie since Meet the Robinsons and almost every Pixar movie since Toy Story 2.
  15. Different animators, different writters, different studios. Just because Pixar is owned by Disney doesn't mean they have the same people or philosphies for movies. The only thing thing they have in common is John Lasseter who strongly believes in Disney traditions.
  16. With all due respect, I don't like this solution at all. I had a great discussion going on a very specific subject and now it's lost in the middle of 600 posts.
  17. With all due respect Up is not Disney it is Pixar. They have entirely different storytelling styles. The last 4 Disney movies are quality movies and without the nostalgia goggles are comparable to anything from the 90s
  18. Did you see The Lion King and Beauty and the Beast in 3D? They looked incredible, I don't care for things jumping out at me but the way depth was added to these movies looked so amazing. Yeah it's a cheap way to get money, but even if they weren't in 3D I would have gone anyway and I'm sure many others would have. There is just something magical about seeing a classic Disney movie in theatres. And for the record Disney was rereleasing movies in theatres long before 3D came around particularly before it was possible to rent movies, it's not a new tactic.
  19. Your information is a bit outdated. Robert Iger has been trying to turn the company around since Micheal Isner was replaced in 2005. And with John Lasseter taking over as Chief Creative Officer for both Disney and Pixar the quality of the movies has been steadly on the rise. The TV side of things hasn't produced a lot of good things lately but I've heard good things about Gravity Falls (probably helps that former FiM story editor Rob Renzetti is working on the show) and Tron Uprising is turning out to be a fantastic series, probably the darkest and most dramatic series they've made since Gargoyles. Plus Craig McCraken and Lauren Faust's series Wander Over Younder starts next year
  20. This has been bugging the hell out of me for a while. This romantic view of classic Disney movies and constant shating on modern Disney films which to me is based soley on the fact that it is new (or worse CGI) and therefore not as good as the 90s films. I loved Bolt (it's what got me to start paying attention to Disney again), Tangled, Princess and the Frog and even Winnie the Pooh. I don't think Disney is any worse off now then it was 20 years ago. I still think Disney movies (and that doesn't include Pixar) have a unique style of storytelling that hasn't change since Snow White in 1937. I'm fully looking forward to Wreck-It Ralph and will be seeing it in theatres and not thinking the whole time ""I wish this more like classic Disney"
  21. I never said anything about spamming pony images just rule34, and that's is a given and has actually been a mixed blessing, allowing us to spread across the Internet very quickly but also earning us plenty of enemies. And we do marginalize cloppers (police may have been the wrong word). You yourself said you hate rule34 art and I've seen a large number of bronies say something similar. But I don't think I've ever heard many furries speakout against rule34. It seems to me that they just accept it as a part of the fandom and make no effort to speak out against it. You say camera crews work hard to make furries looks as bad as possible at conventions. We are very careful about who we allow at our conventions (the only reason Howard Stern got anything was because he talked to people outside the con). I would say we are more careful overall and are more conciounce of our image.
  22. I blame it on the fact that they make no effort to police their fandom. From what I've seen Bronies spend a lot of time running damage control on "unsavory aspects" of the fandom (no offense to anyone who is a clopper). A good public image never hurts.
  23. You do realize you are trying to apply real world physics to a world filled with magical, talking ponies right? To say that Rainbow Dash can not exceed the sound barrier is like saying Twilight can not use telekinesis or Fluttershy can not walk on clouds. We have observed them doing all these things and Rainbow Dash been confirmed to be breaking the sound barrier by in show dialoge. Pinkie: When a Pegasus like Rainbow Dash gets going soo fast... BOOM! A sonic boom and a rainbow can happen all at once! Since sonic booms can only occur when an object breaks the sound barrier we must conclude that Rainbow Dash is indeed doing just that. As to your statement that a mach cone appears before reaching mach 1, that is wrong. It occurs between .8 and Mach 1 at transonic speeds.
  24. I didn't even know bronies existed until after I watched the show. I only found out about the show when a guy who runs a web comic linked to a clip of Pinkie playing the trombone as an ending gag for his comic. I didn't even know what I was looking at until I saw the tags. I only knew of MLP from my youth and I didn't know it was even still around. A google search told me Lauren Faust worked on the show, that she'd worked on Foster's and the show was airing the Hub. I checked the tv schedual and found out the latest episode (Over a Barrel )was airing the next morning. So I recorded it out of curiosity. It wasn't till a Wikipedia search after I watched it that I found out about the rapidly growing fanbase.
  25. Well since everyone seems to be including Pixar movies now (which I don't consider Disney), I'll add mine. I've always considered Finding Nemo and Ratatouie to be the best. I'm probably in the minority for thinking Monsters Inc was boring and Wall-E is overrated
