  1. I don't even count the Sirens' appearance in Shadow Play as a reference because, even though they are the same characters, their appearance would've made just as much sense in-context if Equestria Girls never existed and it's not like Twilight ever mentions defeating the Sirens or something. I really don't know why they don't do something like that, or even something like Sunset appearing in a picture frame or something. It's not like people who don't watch EqG would be lost since it would just be a background extra. I wouldn't mind this, but they sure don't have any hesitation to directly reference the events of the movie within the show. Are they just worried about ticking off the EqG haters?
  2. Here's another thing I forgot about before - I think there's a pretty easy way to work around possible confusion, and that's what this artist did: have their manes be different to match their human hair, and have them keep one or two accessories. Problem solved. Anyway, any of you guys have an idea on what the plot of this would be like? I already have two different ideas in mind: -Twilight gets permission from a reluctant Sunset to explore for a few hours to satisfy her scientific curiosity. But Twilight becomes so eager that she ignores the warnings and gets herself in trouble. -Rainbow accidentally kicks her favorite soccer ball through the portal, and impulsively feels the need to run after it. Unfortunately, the ball ends up going much further than she could've expected and must cope with her new form to get it.
  3. Truthfully, I just want to see one or more of the born-humans to visit just because I think it'd be really great to see them be amazed at the fantastical environment unlike anything they've seen before, reacting to being in such a peculiar and different body, and adapting to their special abilities and walking on hooves. It feels like it writes itself.
  4. But see, that barely even counts because the occasion barely factors into the plot at all. In fact, it's basically forgotten about once the Anon-a-Miss stuff actually kicks in. Plus, it's not an animation. We need an proper EqG Christmas. It just feels wrong that FiM gets five while EqG has yet to get even one.
  5. I was referring more to winter holidays, like Christmas, but I can see them doing something like that.
  6. Mind describing some of those ideas you had in mind?
  7. Well, yeah (beyond the other issues with that comic, the fact it was Internet-related basically prevented them from actually making it about the holiday season) - but I'm curious to here from others what the plot could specifically be. Mostly so I can imagine it playing out in my head.
  8. By the end of this year, FiM will have had five holiday-related stories, while EqG has yet to have one (that we know of, anyway). The only one that technically counts is the infamous Anon-a-Miss comic back in 2014, and even that kind of forgets about the holiday rather early on and it barely factors into the plot at all. This realization has made me really hope EqG does get an official holiday story in animated form that actually takes proper advantage of the occasion. Doesn't matter the format, it could be shorts or a full special, but it just ought to happen sometime. However, I'm at a loss as to what it would be about, since I'm simply not creative with ideas. How do you think a EqG Christmas story would play out? I encourage details if you have them.
  9. Heck, this concept even trickles its way into modern cartoons from time to time (Samurai Jack comes to mind). But yeah, it'd be really interesting to see a fanfic or fan comic about that.
  10. Here's how I perceive it: EqG1 – Early Fall of Junior Year Rainbow Rocks – Early Spring of Junior Year Friendship Games – May of Junior Year Legend of Everfree – early Summer Magical Movie Night specials – mid Summer Summertime Shorts (barring the first three) – late Summer Really, for a series that has never really planned out a timeline like this, things stay pretty dang consistent and reasonable until you get to the digital shorts. I feel like a few of them take place at the very end of Junior year ("The Finals Countdown", "Queen of Clubs"), a handful take place in the Summer ("Star Crossed", "My Little Shop of Horrors"), and most of the CYOE episodes take place at the beginning of Senior year. Heck, Forgotten Friendship likely took place shortly after "Queen of Clubs", which would’ve been at the very tail end of Junior year. What I’m saying is the events seem kind of out of order from the digital series on but you can form a solid timeline if you try hard enough.
  11. I legit don't think I could do this special justice. Because this is one I had such high expectations and hopes for, especially after reading the book (I'm still feeling proud I called it being from an animated project BTW). And yet, somehow, it actually managed to be everything I hoped it would be, if not even more so. For one, the story is just great on all fronts. It's really difficult not to feel bad for Sunset, given what is established at the beginning and the sound design and vocal inflections do a fantastic job carrying them through. The pacing is also really good, constantly being on the move but never to the point where it feels rushed. There's a ton of meat to the plot, too. The scene of Sunset in Equestria was something I was so hoping we'd get more of after Mirror Magic, with her reunion with Princess Celestia being the icing on the cake. Wallflower makes for a rather interesting and sympathetic antagonist. Even Trixie gets a surprisingly deep and likable role, and keep in mind she hasn't had a Starlight like the pony one did (on a side note, we need a short that's just Trix, Star, and Sun bonding - they have the perfect opportunity for that now). The background music gave it their absolute all, as did the animators. There's all sorts of little touches with the visuals that we didn't get in earlier EqG installments, like the various beach outfits and Sunset kicking her slippers off. There's all these little things that I really love, too. The song in the beginning is basically a spiritual successor to "My Past is Not Today", the stuff at the beach is a little fanservice-y but still fun, the 'parking lot' line to Luna, and the sacrifice at the end was dang heartbreaking. Also, my favorite Celestia moment in the entire series - "Did you say I wasn't your best teacher?" I am not even exaggerating when I say this is dang near perfect, and one of my top 5 MLP stories period. There are a couple nitpicks, but everything else is so amazing I don't even care enough to criticize. It's easily my favorite EqG installment ever, and it will probably remain my favorite because - enjoyable as future installments may be - this is the kind of fantastic that simply can't be easily topped.
  12. For the most part, I'd say so, but the way the endings play out is... a little more confusing. Granted, most of them do lead to the same general results, but there are times when one episode explicitly shows one solution to another having just happened, and even one instance where TWO solutions from the same episode are shown at different points.
  13. The day the Friendship to Remember book came out, I definitely knew something was up with how high-stakes it felt for a junior novel, to the point where I was convinced it was taken from an animated project. Man oh man, did I call it... And yeah, I'm with everyone else in that this is what I was waiting for with the series.
  14. Easily the thing that disappointed me the most about the movie is something that really has next to nothing to do with the actual film - that being that it was clearly trying to appeal to newcomers as well as fans, and yet it seemed to fail in terms of the former. And while I do kind of see why looking at the film, the thing for me is, even before the film was announced I was particularly anticipated for a pony movie specifically because I felt like it would break the "it's for girls, so it must suck" mentality. Like, people who would go in skeptical would come out blown away by it. So, keeping the story and much of the specifics intact, what would you have changed about the movie that you think would have won more people over? I personally think the Mane 6 could've been introduced better (like, I feel their first moments in the film didn't encapsulate their personalities that well and were sort of drawn out), and Ponies Got the Beat just reeks of mainstream executive meddling.
  15. Y’know, as much as I like app releases, this is really making it hard for me to actually remain hyped for the digital series. Especially given that we literally have half of the episodes known already. I just want to be kept hyped and wondering what’s going to happen next. So to have this much be released at once, and this frequently, kind of throws a monkeywrench into that. Not to mention I just want MLP out of Discovery Family’s hair already.
  16. Just now, I came up with an even better idea than the one I had in mind months ago. I came up with the majority of this on the fly pretty much, and I'm amazed at how well it came out. So, this is what I would've changed, assuming the same run-time and basic story outline. This is what I would've changed in Mirror Magic: 1) Almost entirely get rid of the mirror scenes in limbo, since when you get down to it they're more or less pointless. Just showing an occasional image of the Humane 6 inside the mirror from Sunset/Starlight's perspective would really be enough to convey what is needed for the story. 2) Also trim Juniper's scenes. One or two were kind of redundant or dragged on. 3) Spend a few more minutes with Starlight and Sunset bonding, and make it clear that they're increasingly enjoying the other's company over time. 4) Along with the scene where Starlight tells Sunset to take things as they come, add in one where Sunset gives Starlight very similar advice after they encounter Juniper. Maybe something like, "It's okay to be afraid, but never let that stop you from doing the right thing." 5) Make the moral about bonding with people who seem very different from you, as even they may end up having something strong in common. This would happen with Starlight and Sunset, Juniper and Starlight, and that little 'quick confession' exchange.
  17. Problem is, that Equestria portion is in the middle of the story.
  18. I think it's safe to say we have our answer on how a Friendship to Remember will be animated.
  19. So, a little bit ago, the Discovery Family Go app has released FIVE episodes of the Choose Your Own Adventure series. The way they have it released is that each ep has three different "copies", with a different ending for each one. Consider this an early Christmas present of sorts. The episodes in question are as follows: Fluttershy's Butterflies Rarity Investigates Driving Miss Shimmer Stressed in Show Text Support I don't know if these are also available on Discovery Go's website for those of you who want to go all 1080p. I have yet to find a link for that; if someone does find it, please provide it here for convenience's sake. Me, I'll probably spread these out over time because I only have time tonight for one. Also note that "Best Trends Forever" isn't among these, meaning this may not even be all of them.
  20. That's the only valid theory I could come up with, too. I knew them releasing it on a Sunday was weird and unusual... It's not even the first time I recall this happening with this channel either.
  21. A lot of people seem to be claiming EqG will still live after FiM ends, but I'm not sure how much I believe that seeing as how it's a part of G4. Having it go on while G5 is being made would just be a little weird.
  22. No, I'm very sure it was one, since they all collectively added up to about 4 minutes of animation.
  23. I also have suspicious that this may end up being part of the digital series (particularly because of the beach minis, which an early chapter just so happens to take place at). But I'm curious as to how they even would, even assuming longer shorts. Because keep in mind, the book is about the same length as the 70-minute adaptations.
  24. From what I can tell, most of said original plots are either very low-stakes or hastily cobbling multiple unrelated elements together. This is neither of those.
