  1. I straight up do not like this episode. It presents an interesting dilemma about the bats attacking AJ's orchard. That part I like. The writers like forgot who the Mane 6 are temporarily. After already learning that Zecora was not who they thought she was, I don't think they'd be so warlike in their disposition to the bats. Obviously it was a problem that needed to be solved but the Mane 6 seemed besides themselves with dislike for the bats. Also, they put way too much pressure on Fluttershy, totally disregarding her point of view and badgering her into doing something she clearly didn't want to do. They knew she doesn't like using the stare if possible. They knew she was an expert when it comes to other animals. So this is to say, given how much they had all learned about friendship already, their treatment of her in this episode seems wrong, just not quite right. And Twi turned her into a Vampire!
  2. Kind of a half-hearted send up of DC comics, eh. The powers the Mane 6 got were interesting, but they weren't used in interesting ways. This episode went too hard on Spike. His surge of insecurity somehow doesn't seem believeable. Just cause they got sucked into the comic didn't mean that he really was a lame side kick.
  3. Once again the CMC let Diamond Tiara walk all over them and push their buttons. By this point, wouldn't they begin to realize that everything DT is gonna say, it's always the same from her. Intractable. She never learns, no matter how many times her efforts to ruin the CMC lead to the opposite results. But you'd think they'd just ignore her. That's not always easy when your being bullied in school, but what message are they trying to send by having DT always wrecking the confidence of the CMC?
  4. I wouldn't have thought that Daring Do would need to literally be saved by RD to come around to her. I'm glad she did. RD had found a character to look up to, and it's no fun time when irl and who you were expecting are completely different.
  5. No matter how you feel about this Izzy always creates such amazingly interesting and balanced videos. And she has a ton of MLP videos, she just dropped a new one:

Pony Consciousness is always Magical Consciousness and Compassionate Consciousness. That is why the Pegasi earned the role of being the shepherds of the weather. That is why the crops grown by Earth Ponies seldom fail and keep everyone well fed and healthy. That is why Unicorns can actually use their magic to help others instead of oppress them. Of course even Ponies can fall. But the wisest Alicorn Princesses can coax even the Celestial bodies. That is why Princess Celestia is so named. Wise and experienced and compassionate Alicorn Princesses can keep the seasons predictable and steady. They can divert asteriods and comets away from Equestria, and keep it centered within the habitable band of their solar system. They can do that. So because they are kind and compassionate, the magic and power of Ponies protects them by working with the material nature and not against it. Thus Ponies are not hurting as much or in the same way as Human Beings hurt. Of course, they are still created beings and their struggles are only too real. They can serve as good exemplars for human beings. The have all the grace and attunement of the Elves, for example, but none of the pride or attachment to one past or another, all of which ended long ago. Elves linger and Human Beings grind, but Equestria and all the Ponies take Rebirth with more ease. So the spirit souls of the Ponies have both serenity and confidence. But their chief virtue is always Friendship. The innate tendecy to consider each other as much as they consider themselves.

  8. Welcome Friend! FNAF is also a magical abode of Friendship in its own way, I love hanging out there too! Inevitably the Ponies will visit Freddy's, it's only a matter of time.
  9. An interesting exploration of the role a cutie mark plays in the life of every pony. I didn't like the music in this episode so much. It felt like forced exposition.
  10. Every episode featuring the Crystal Empire is solid. I love the Crystal Empire. It always expands the horizons of Equestria and builds the world of FIM. That said, the premise and plot of this episode are also solid and well conceived. Having just reappeared after a 1000 years of being under a spell, and in honor of it's new Rulers Princess Cadence and Shining Armor, it was only fitting that The Crystal Empire should host the Equestria Games. But it had to go through the process too. Of course, once again, a bone which Rainbow Dash has to pick almost sinks the venture, but also saves it, and was saving it the entire time. Great episode.
  11. A two parter, even if not officially so. Spike was wholly absorbed with the jewel cake he was trying to bake. The jaunt to the Crystal Empire added to the stakes and made the proceedings more nail biting. Especially on the train. Effective use of movement and travel to keep the action fresh and enhance the drama.
  12. Fluttershy not only sets Discord onto a better path, she also stands her ground when the rest of the Mane 6 refuse to believe in him. It is true that at first his repentance was not sincere. But Fluttershy, by her example and actions led Discord to a place where he found reformation and sincereity within himself. She continued to stand by him in a subsequent episode, when the rest of the Mane 6 seemingly refused to believe he had reformed. Princess Celestia and Princess Luna had been forced to turn Discord to stone, because they could not reach him. Twilight Sparkle likewise could not reach him. And the rest of the Mane 6 did not really try. Almost to the point of Sandbagging the task Princess Celestia had given them. So Fluttershy really taught a complicated mystical entity that he too still had something less to learn, and she held off the rest of the Mane 6, who didn't believe in him. This is why Fluttershy, along with Rarity are my best non-Twi ponies. There is so much more to them than what we frequently see.
  13. Welcome from a fellow Newly Arrived Pony!
  14. I appreciate what this episode was trying to do. I think it was trying to explore the complex issue of how bullying can create bullies. That is a nuanced issue, and an important one. Still, Babs Seed is not very sympathetic, and by the end of the episode she has just barely begun to perceive the error of her earlier behavior. The other problem is that the adult ponies of Ponyville are seemingly asleep at the wheel as far as Diamond Tiara is concerned. They sort of are failing her. I understand her character serves to illustrate the timeless problem of bullying, but she is always seemingly getting away with abuse totally unchecked. The CMC show kindness and compassion towards her, and that is a nice thought. But Diamond Tiara is always rotten and always totally unrepentant up until this episode. So the CMC need to rise up to the task of setting boundaries with bullies, which they basically don't do. It's not what this episode is trying to talk about that I am not plused by, it's just how it's handled this time.
  15. Apple Jack certainly took responsibility for the reunion being a success, but she then turned her listening ears off. I can relate. If I'm feeling that pressure to get something right, I get my own ideas about how to do it and it is sometimes hard for me to let go and take other people's ideas onboard. It's called, not being able to delegate. So watching this episode was a special reminder for me.
  16. I wish you success. (Though if you ever figure out the secret to it, remember Apple Jack sayz it's important to share.)
  17. I don't like unreformed Trixie. Much like Dimond Tiara, she's just mean in a very venal way. I understand that her character develops more later on but she's just kind of annoying. I think that considering the troubke she caused this time she got off pretty easy. I marvel that Princess Celestia didn't take any action to see to it that she's not going around Equestria being an agressive bully.
  18. Pinkie Pie as the Borg. Exponential replication. Factorial replication. Thank goodness the real Pinkamena Diane Pie was able to watch that paint dry. Though I marvel that she was able to do it any better than all of her duplicates. Were they somehow missing something?
  19. This episode lind of gets it wrong. Princess or not, I can't quite see the other Mane 6 ever telling Twi to go home. And I can't really see her doing it. The artwork, the Harmony tree sure was beautiful though.
  20. This episode really reminded me of scary or haunted house episodes from all kinds of different cartoons from back in the 1990s. It isn't a rip off of any of them but it sure captures the essence of the old magic. In the old way, in the old style. The twist doesn't even ruin it because even though I love here Pinkie Pie can be downright scary.
  21. They are brightening my day first thing, even though I work 3rd shift.

  22. Wow! What a Haul, and by Luna am I done till next paycheck. I found a goldmine of a local comics shop. He must have every single issue of MLP comics, but I only buy in anthologies, and he has plenty of those too, and can get more. I stopped myself at two. This guy was exactly the Boof I've been hoping to connect with.

After that I headed over to an antique mall he recommended. Sweetie Drops is a no stranger, she is known, my first Gen 4 pony...alongside RD. For a Pony who told himself he wasn't ever gonna do plush toys. One glance, just one glance from RD fixed that right up. A gentle bath with a damp and a dry cloth has her 20% cooler and back to near mint.

I really was thinking I would get another Gen 1 pony to take over from the one I lost, she could never be replaced, but she wouldn't want me to be alone and from somewhere, she still doesn't. Dancing Butterflies is a "Twice As Fancy" mare Pegasus, and she is covered in Butterfly symbols. Quite the cutie markings you got there girl, whoa. It does surprise me that Dancing Butterflies doesn't seem to come up in the discussion about which ponies inspired Fluttershy. Several do, but not to my knowledge Dancing Butterflies. It was relevant to me to get at least one Gen 1 pony again.

I don't care about the packaging. I'll get nuts about that when I start going for Gen 4 Funko products, which is really the next phase of my collecting. Really, it's gonna be mainly Gen 4 Funko. At least until I finally get to browse the vendor section of a Con. Sure to be plenty of custom stuff there. My wallet is already groaning!

  23. Heading out to the rest of my local comics shops to see if I can support local businesses and get my Pony goodness. Wish me luck!

  24. Welcome! Nice to see so many new fellow Fluttershy fans arriving! My history with MLP is also long but on and off until 2017 when I really returned in earnest. This community is a source of light we all need. I'm glad I came here to take the first steps to not be so self contained. I wish you wellness and that you find what you're looking for here.
