  1. The hardest lesson I've ever had to learn was that my marriage was doomed to begin with. It has taken me 7 years to come to grips with it. That's the short version, there's a lot to unpack there, obviously. And obviously, we're not going to go into any of it. This has also involved some more specific hard lessons I've had to learn about myself. Some of them have been bitter pills to swallow indeed, but clearly they would be. It's more a matter of it being very hard to sort this all out and my probability of doing so was never high. And of course, I am still very much a work in progress.
  2. I've written a couple songs, none of which are extant anymore, unfortunately. I've written more poetry, and only a couple of those are still around. They're morose bummers. I wouldn't care to share them. But I've tried my hand at it. Generally, I am a visual artist. I've done a lot more better work there. Several writers have told me that I have talent, but I lack skills. I agree. I do have a fan novel I am VERY SLOWLY writing and I wonder if I will ever finish it.
  3. I put 8 am cause that's when I usually go to bed at this time in my life. When I get to sleep is just a matter of when I get off of work, how long it takes me to get home from work, and how much time I end up needing to unwind. It's totally dictated by work and totally unhealthy.
  4. Sometimes yes, sometimes no. It depends and it is hard to predict and hard for me to explain why that is.
  5. The last hotel I was at was a mixed experience. The room was perfectly fine, so was the hotel's location. The Price was not quite right and the staff were tricky to communicate with. I like hotels, especially if I'm not traveling alone, but especially if I'm traveling with friends. We can have fun in hotel rooms. I never travel with my folks anymore. Evar.
  6. I get to say three cause I dod my Yoga, drank my tea, sat in meditation, did my self care and chanted my chants. Soon I'm gonna read my books. That's the only reason I get to award myself a 3 today. If I hadn't done ALL of the above my number would have been much higher.
  7. Right now, the only thing I can say that I like about my job is that I get to work alone most of the time, I don't have to give it my entire attention constantly for 8 to 12 to 16 hours as the case may be, and it's a quiet place. The hours, pay and benefits are decent, but we all deserve that from any job. But it's boring, and a dead end. There's nowhere to go. So in three months I am requesting a transfer. I have to feel like I'm doing something, to not hsve a bad conscience.
  8. Vaping. And I have good reason to feel that way beyond what most people might be aware of. Let's leave it at that.
  9. I struggled to learn but my parents stayed on me at a young age, so yes. If they are there I use them. If not, sometimes I ask, but it depends. I don't like to make a big show of asking for them.
  10. Rarity and Fluttershy is more interesting to me personally than the more well known Fluttershy and RD. I also think Twi and Fluttershy would be totally Desert Hearts. Cheese Sandwich with Mr. Cake or Shinning armor would be delightful, though would require drama for for some of them to be available. Cheese Sandwich with either Flim or Flam would be a grand olde tyme! Nurse Redheart and Sweetie Drops would be pretty Electric!
  11. My avatars are always very important to me. Maybe too important. I get picky and perfectionistic. It has to be just right. Once established, I seldom change them, though it can happen. Generally, I try to craft them myself as opposed to using ones someone else made. I imagine that when my first commissions are done I will create a new avatar based on what Night Sky properly looks like. The AI kitsch I have now is just a stop gap measure.
  12. All my walls are decorated with paintings I made specifically for my room. It's kind of a mural in panels.
  13. SNAPS. If you aren't a kid of the 80s and 90s, you won't remember those. They tasted like black licorice with the texture of thin wall brown cardboard. So absolutely delicious. Menards has a big bag of colored licorice bites that taste somewhat like snaps did, but not quite.
  14. Coffee, though only from a mug, not in an IV like normal.
  15. Here's one: I swear, my brother showed me this and then we went out shopping. We stopped at V-Stock and what awaited us there? We were ambushed by a Masked Mutant Funko Pop. Geeeeeee....Funko is scraping the bottom of the barrel at this point, why not bring the entire Gen 4 line back to the shelves instead?
  16. S2E3 Lesson Zero - It's hilarious, lands close to home but still teaches a nuanced, important lesson about Friendship. I feel better about some of my own anxieties and OCD watching this episode. Twi went entirely off the rails. S3E1,E2 The Crystal Empire - Another cherished episode. This is arguably the first truly epic episode of FIM, a real outing into the larger world of Equestria and beyond. The Crystal Empire is beautiful, an interesting idea and it's interesting how the show implements it. Ruling there makes sure that Princess Cadence and Shining Armor have something to do. The reappearance of the CE just ups the ante, even after King Sombra is repelled. The world is getting bigger, more is at stake now. The scene where Princess Celestia and Luna are talking about what to do just broke the seal of Ponyville, and now we're into first order fantasy here. I know some ponies prefer to keep it in Ponyville and take it just one episode after another. Myself I like a balance of that and some larger world building too. S4E9 Pinkie Apple Pie - Again, this episode is just hilarious. The scene when Apple Bloom spectacularly looses the map and is then berated by AJ through smiling clenched teeth makes me laugh no matter how many times I rewatch it. So I guess this is kind of like a Top 3, but there it is.
  17. PLEASE, ASK AWAY... ...Except any question/s to which you do not want an answer. This pony is something of an unrolled scroll, and no questions are off limits. I might not be able to answer EVERY SINGLE question a pony might ask, but I can answer most of them. Send It!
  18. Eating chili, with shredded cheddar.
  19. Good to meet you. I too was hooked after one episode and, in truth that would be my short version. I am loving Canterlot Avenue. It's a very friendly place just like this one is.
  20. Same. I'm on a one day at a time schedule myself, and my folks are keeping close tabs on me. They should. It does comfort me. I really think you're not alone here right now.
  21. A great many things scare me, but we can't really go into too much detail so what's the point. There are a lot of angry violent people out there. That's tangible. Something I can clearly identify and that could easily harm me. I'm afraid of that.
  22. I was just thinking this same thought.
  23. This is an interesting prompt for a thread. Narrowing down my favorite songs to just three is difficult. I think it is for the best if I answer this prompt as Night Sky the Pegasus, and not as the human I am in this world. I'm keeping in mind the younger and gentler ears that may listen to these. That does not mean that I won't seriously be showing my age with my selections. Night Sky is 40 years old, which means he's only 2.5 years younger than me. On the other hand, answering as a Pony, sometimes Ponies are cute and charming. But it's important to note that Ponies also have a great sense of right and wrong. And they have the moral fiber to look serious matters in the eye. So my selections will reflect that. Blah, blah, blah. I know I've written two paragraphs in response to a thread that is asking for lists, but I think the prompt rasied this interesting issue, and I wanted to say a word (or a ton of words about it). 1. Bad - U2 (specifically this live version) The first song I heard on the first cassette tape I ever purchased with my own money. Contains references to skies, lights and a sense of flight. 2. Song To The Siren - Tim Buckley Elizabeth Fraser's cover version for the This Mortal Coil project really is the best, but Tim Buckley's original is also great, and a little less overwhelming. The 12-string guitar adds quite a touch. 3. Running In The Night - FM-84 And now for something completely different, more recent and more diverse, even if Outrun is a backwards looking retro micro genre, at least this one isn't 30 years old or more. When I'm up in the clouds out on patrol, I'm not supposed to have headphones on, bad for my situational awareness. But "if" I were going to be naughty and listen to some tunes while patroling the night skies of Equestria, this is certainly something I'd be listening to. Again, this does not present a "wrong" view of my tastes in music, but it isn't exactly a balanced view of it either. If I went undercover among the unreformed changelings or the dragons or the diamond dogs, this list would look very different.
  24. I am reading: '365 Tao' by Deng Ming-Dao 'Wherever You Go, There You Are' by Jon Kabat Zinn 'The Yoga Sutras' by Sri Patanjali and translated by Sri Swami Satchidanada I'm also ready a book about vampires but I don't have it in front of me atm and I can't remember the author's name. I'm also reading through an illustrated edition of Aesop's Fables There's that Archetypal Imagery textbook, I do one entry a day. I am supposed to be reading two histories of the goth subculture but I am stalled out on those. So, too many. Seriously, don't be doing this, it's not that I'm not retaining what I am reading. More, it literally is too much literal jugging of the books of literature.
