  1. It's not a criticism of your beliefs. Like I said, it's not a personal attack. Actually, it does upset me that people are making comments about your non-religious orientation. And I can sympathize with the latter part of you original post, honestly. But when you implied that science and religion are somehow at odds, of course I'm gonna call that out!
  2. Please don't take this as a personal attack, but I'm really tired of hearing this. To say that one must choose religion or science is a false dichotomy. I believe in both. Many do. Sure, there are religious people that reject parts of science in favor of very specific interpretations of their religious texts, but I honestly think they have to do a lot more mental gymnastics than those who simply accept what we've learned from the scientific method (and it's really not in conflict with the religious literature I can think of).
  3. As a guy; yes, definitely! I have many female friends (mainly because I've worked at T.J. Maxx for almost 4 years, and the demographics of my coworkers are at least 75% female, if not more). Sometimes, we'll hang out outside work (as a group or even just the two of us), but it's nothing more than that. Now, the downside to that attitude is this... I've been hiking and sharing breakfasts with one of my classmates before work each week. I like her, but since our culture is so used to just "hanging out", as opposed to "going out", I guess I need to go beyond simply asking her out, as I already technically have. One of my friends told me I actually have to ask her to be my girlfriend at some point. That sounds kinda silly to me... What do you all think about that?
  4. Very interesting. So, assuming you have a community, what do you think is the majority view? Because I've heard some describe it as pantheistic, some describe it as dualistic, and some describe it as monotheistic. No! You must join us; the "Others"! I did hear that once. Super nifty!
  5. I am curious if you consider yourself a Zoroastrian, or if you just appreciate some of its teachings. If you are, that would make you quite a rarity, indeed! As I'm sure you know, there are not a lot of Zoroastrians left today (fewer than 200,000, probably), but it's a religion that's impacted the world immensely, which is a really interesting dichotomy! One of my favorite passages was Yasna 60:5 - "May Sraosha (Obedience) conquer disobedience within this house, and may peace triumph over discord here, and generous giving over avarice, reverence over contempt, speech with truthful words over lying utterance. May the Righteous Order gain the victory over the Demon of the Lie." I also find it really absolutely fascinating that Zoroastrians and Jews seemed to have a strong relationship, notably beginning after Cyrus the Great (possibly a Zoroastrian) freed the Jews from Babylonian captivity. Zoroastrian Magi played a significant role in the story of Jesus' birth. Followers are, in my opinion, referenced in the Qur'án as People of the Book. And lastly, the prophet Bahá'u'lláh wrote a Tablet to the Zoroastrians. It's just peculiar that the faith is so evident in other religions, yet very few know it even exits! Anyway, I'm really getting overexcited. ...Like when Fluttershy first met "A BABY DRAGON!!!" lol
  6. As touching as the worldwide support for Paris has been, it does highlight the selective grief of the world. There was hardly a peep about the similar attacks in Lebanon, for instance. I don't mean to downsize the seriousness France's situation, but it is a good learning opportunity.

The Middle East doesn't get as much media coverage because 1) that stuff is normal there and 2) they aren't as connected with the rest of the world like France and other first-world countries are. I imagine if the media picked up that stuff as much, we'd hear about it every day. Things like what happened in Paris came as more of a shock because no one expected it.

  7. Native English speaker. I learned Italian in school, but I honestly know more Spanish than Italian, due to living in Arizona. I would love to become fluent in Spanish, but I'm too busy to start practicing as of today. "Mañana..." ¡Jajajaja!
  8. 6.5/10 Not a big fan of her voice, but the hook is catchy.
  9. So apparently, I'm becoming a brony again... Lots of catching up to do! :)

Got busy with life, and couldn't really bring myself to watch the show. It's not been the same since Twilicorn. But I found some spare time recently, and there have been several good episodes lately. :)

I became a Brony in between Seasons 3 and 4, so I didn't mind Twilicorn at all.

I guess you could say I'm one of the old-school kids. Started watching during season 2.

  10. I'm surprised I drew as much as I did... Draw SUPERMAN!
  11. Do you know how many times I tried to get that same song captured on Shazam? I actually do have it saved in the app several times, but I kept forgetting its name... Haha! 8.5/10
  12. Dude... I really like your mane! How long have you been growing it out?
  13. I voted Pinkie, but only if she were allowed to use the Apple Family's apples...
  14. I sincerely hope I picked the right job! Still stressing about my decision, even though most would be lucky to even have such a choice.

      What's the job?

Sales Associate at T.J. Maxx. I've worked for the company in the past before I left to work at Cedar Point. I had their job offer, an offer from HomeGoods, and another HomeGoods wanted to interview me.

      Ah right, that sounds good.

  15. I RAN OUT OF TIME!!! So sad... Nothing heroic about it. Draw Michael Jackson!
  16. Hmm... It leaves much to be desired... Now, draw Spike in 10 seconds flat!
  17. I found these maps pretty interesting. We all know Christianity dominates the United States, but it's not all too clear what is second to this religion in adherents. Buddhism dominates the West, which makes sense because there are a lot of Asians here compared to the rest of the country. Whereas, the Northeast appears to be a stronghold for Jews and the South for Muslims. As an Arizonan, I find it very interesting how my state stands out with a larger Hindu population (Deleware is the only other "red" state. Why?). I can't figure out the correlation. And as a Bahá'í, I was really excited to see that we were represented in at least one state; South Carolina. This second map show a more diversified picture, and is also intriguing. Looking at this one, I can see that neither Islam nor Buddhism have quite the strongholds they appeared to have in the first map. Yet, Judaism still seems pretty strong in the Northeast. Bahá'í and Hinduism also have a greater showing across the board in this view. Zoroastrianism doesn't color any states, but I'd guess it could be #3 in several counties. The same with Pagans, if I had to guess.
  18. Hate to break it to you, but Ron Paul isn't running this election cycle. In 2012, when Ron Paul dropped out, I voted for Gary Johnson. It was a compromise... I am a pro-life libertarian. As for this election cycle, I will likely vote for a third party again. If I had to pick a D or R, I'd vote for Carly Fiorina. She's not perfect, but I wouldn't be upset if she were running our country.
  19. 7. I need more upper body muscle. Definitely would say growing my hair out has been a great decision! I'm a little below average male height, but that may be considered cute by some; there's a niche market. ...or so I tell myself.
  20. What is that supposed to mean? "Unfortunately"?
  21. Nice! Where at? This was my first summer, and I'm back home in Arizona now. I was sooooo nervous, but once I got my first rescue out of the way, it was smooth sailing.
  22. "The earth is but one country, and mankind its citizens" -Bahá'u'lláh

  23. This is me when a little over a month ago at Cedar Point's Soak City. No, that's not a mullet, but I used the hat to keep all the rest of the hair out of my face. That's probably the one thing that saved me from cutting it (they have fairly strict appearance policy at Cedar Fair). Well, that, and the fact that I was a good guard! I also worked at Castaway Bay, so maybe I kinda fit in with the whole Islander atmosphere.
  24. Hey, dude! Happy birthday! We're the same age... Wow! Wonder who popped out first though? :P

  25. Happy birthday! ...And say, you aren't as old as that other guy called "Methuselah" are ya? ;)

    1. Methuselah

      Methuselah

Thanks for the well-wishing =) And no, I'm a bit young.
