Is the CMC a "no boys allowed" thing?

Well, remember that MLP:FiM is made for girls, and thus it really isn't that big of a surprise that the CMC are all girls.

 

But I don't think that's the point. I don't think that there is a "no boys allowed" kind of deal, I just think that the CMC are three tightly-knit friends that ended up having the same issue, and thus stuck together. I don't think there's anything more to it than that.

I don't think it is. I don't remember quite well but I think everypony in their class have their cutie marks except them. Because it's a show for girls By pure coincidence, it happened that the 3 left were girls.

The only true members of the CMC are Sweetie Bell, Apple Bloon, and Scootaloo; and that will likely remain so.

 

Now, we have had honorary members like Babs Seed and...MAYBE Discord from the comics (I'll have to recehck that), but as it stands, I doubt it is a 'no boys' policy.

 

Granted, the male fillies to get the most screentime have been Snips & Snails. If there was a 'no boys' policy...kinda hard to blame them.

Ha! This topic reminds me of a panelist I saw on YT that made a comment about the subjugation of males in Equestria.

 

And yep, watch them add a colt, only to have him get his cutie mark at the end of the episode, which leads Applebloom to declare officially, "No Boys Allowed!"

The simple answer is that Hasbro only intended to market this show towards girls, thus in their strategy all main characters save for Spike had to be female. They actually did try to work males into the franchise in previous generations, but it never took off the way they expected.

 

In terms of headcanon, I guess they just don't understand colts or never bothered making friends with any.

 

A colt attempting to join the CMC but failing to connect with the rest of them does sound like a good idea for an episode, however.

In the show, there isn't a lot of interest to make a role such as the one suggested but even if there was, I would wish for the Cutie Mark Crusaders social club to be for fillies only as a personal preference.

well, in "One Bad Seed", the three CMC take Babs into their clubhouse, and introduce themselves as the CMC, and that the club's purpose is to help ponies get their cutie parks, and that they're always looking to expand

 

so, I'd assume that meant them taking in fellow blank flank fillies and colts.

though it would be nice being given an episode where we actually try to see them trying to recruit (maybe a blank flank transfer student, or some new family with a kid without a cutie mark, who moves into their town)

Im pretty sure Colts would be allowed in the CMC back in S1 it was a secret organization according to Applebloom now they have there own theme and dance thanks to the talent show episode plus none of them made it clear that Colts aren't allowed and in S4 Pip wanted to join the CMC but then the topic was changed but i can see Pip joining in S5 plus it would be great to see him in more episodes he is awesome

With the CMC, it's all about helping ponies find their cutie mark, so it probably doesn't have any type of rules against gender.

It always could be the colts don't want to hang out in a group full of fillies even when it's helping them, however if a colt wanted to the CMC might let them in, I don't get where there would be any problem.
