Best deathcore bands that are doing work currently are The Contortionist, Veil of Maya, and Slice the Cake. StC specifically has a 20+ minute epic called "The Man With No Face" that I hold in high regard.

The Contortionist

Can we really consider them deathcore at this point?  They seem wayyyy too progressive for a core designation.  They sound more like a Dream Theater/Animals as Leaders lovechild.

Just out of curiosity, what genre is this album considered exactly?

<BTBAM>

Wikipedia says it's Progressive metal, technical death metal, and experimental rock.

Oh, Wikipedia, you're funny. "Colors" and after in BTBAM's work is progressive metal with heavy metalcore tendencies. "Colors" marks the complete change from metalcore to prog, and their newest album is their art truly perfected.

They've definitely come a long way.

Have a Cranberries cover from the band they were before they started Between the Buried and Me.

Yeah, just gonna post some Pantera.

They're cool man.  Pretty groovy too.   More groovy than Sepultura, who I've also been listening to lately.

Hardcore punk, with sludge and post metal influences.

le post-metal essentials

Might listen to Carpathian Forests or some other black metal if I want more meal. But probably Carpathian Forests.

And Dir En Grey....most likely the greatest Japanese Metal band ever

>not wormrot

edit: wormrot's from singapore, forgot. How about Boris?

Also, Axis Discordance because Djenty made me like them.

Yeah, just gonna post some Pantera.

Pantera is pretty damn groovy. I really loved Hollow from that album. This Love was one of the better ones from that album too.

I also kinda got pumped-up over a game. The Binding of Isaac, to be specific, since I got a really lucky roll on a character. This popped up into my head. I wrecked shit up as some demonic, floating, blood shooting baby.

I loved that song. This Love is my favorite Pantera song, however. I can't get enough of that shit man.

Same with Korpiklaani, who Id post if I wasn't on mobile.

Wow, just had the biggest blast from the past a few minutes ago. Rummaging through my closet for my old winter gloves (it's a fragging mess in there) I stumbled across the Down shirt I purchased back in 2009, when I saw them live in concert. I had totally forgotten about it, due to the fact when I bought it I was only 16 and didn't think my mother would be pleased with me wearing a shirt depicting Jesus puffing on a phat blunt. I had thrown it in the closet with promises to myself I'd wear it loudly and proudly on my 18th birthday. Well I'm 20 years old now and I'm gonna rock the shit out of it.

What a memory too, they toured with Voivod and Weedeater and my tow friends and I weren't even supposed to be there due to it being at a bar (and we were 16 at the time). Luckily my friend Levi knew the door girl so we got in! I forgot my love for Down until just a few minutes ago. Definately my favorite Phil Anselmo band.

Eh? Nandatte?

Alright guys, what's your opinion on super electronic oriented metal? Like, Attack-Attack and other stuff like that. I wanna hear a real opinion, not general Youtube "It fucking sux lolz" and "Stop h8ing fgt."

Personally, I don't like it very much, but I do think that there can be a way to do it right. It just has yet to be made.

Most of it just sounds so weird, messy, and unnecessary most of the time.

(Doesn't help that the band chooses a name for a song called "Turbo Swag."

The only band that I've heard that I really liked who did it was KoRn's Path of Totality with Skrillex. I just liked it for some reason

I don't like electronic music in general, so my opinion probably doesn't matter much.

About the Korn song, I hate Skrillex, but one of my friends said he likes that song, so i dunno.

Attack Attack, aren't a good example of the sort of really electronic metal bands

Get Up was an okay song, I didn't mind it

Maybe that's just me because I don't like Skrillex's style too much

For the second album yes. Intrinsic definitely surprised me when I received the CD. But Exoplanet is better of the two IMO, especially that ending... oh lawdy that ending...

There are definitely some bands that do it better than others.  Here, have two I like.

Genghis Tron is a lot more noise oriented, but both are great.

Leaving EP was some solid shit, but you have bad taste if you like anything else. ;)

Well, some metal bands use synths, if that counts. Though I don't think it does. And lol, Attack Attack! is using Odd Future's favorite font

Genghis Tron is a lot more noise oriented, but both are great.

But that's not noise at alll

noise

Again, cool screamo band, did a split with pig destroyer.

I actually can't believe that I forgot about these guys, they are not the most famous but Im pretty sure if you know them, it's because of the song "Beer!"

I have been listening to Pyschostick quite a lot and when you look past the pretty "meh" lyrics, I mean they are funny sure and clearly not the most professional band, but they have an amazing sound and in some cases I just think the sound to epic for their own good!

I mean if they did a serious song I'm pretty sure my mind would be blown.

This is the Official Video btw...

Oh...Psychostick it's been a while since I've heard that name

Heard of them from listening to Beer

Psychostick kind of make me think of a less Industrial and sexually inappropriate version of MSI

For some reason
