Some more of that blackgaze that I hold so near and dear. @ will do nothing to stop me from enjoying this stuff more than first wave or anything like that.

I love Fen. I actually went to see them last year and they were amazing. I didn't realise they had a new album out, though. This song seems more Shoegaze-ish then their other stuff.

Who's heard the new Within The Ruins?  Spoiler alert, it's just as sick as you'd expect.  The guitar work is superb.  I even like the drum mixing more than the last album.

After listening to that one In Flames album I bought a while ago multiple times, I decided that I like these songs quite a bit. Take This Life is probably still my favorite though.

Dude have you listened to At the Gates? They're stuff is pretty rad.

U

And have some Carcass too. Because Carcass is like my favorite metal band ever!

Any bronies here into Slipknot, Asking Alexandria, or Alesana? I just want to see what other types of bronies there are out there and I want to meet you guys :D

I'm into Slipknot, I like their first three albums, especially Vol. 3

I am not into Asking Alexandria or Alesana, although I've never really listened to either of them.

There was about a page long discussion on Slipknot a few pages back.  Varying degrees of interest from most of us.

Asking Alexandria... not so much, but to each their own.

Haha, I kid. Welcome to the thread. Out of those three, I like Slipknot a bit, though I prefer System of a Down over them. Neutral about the other two, but I tend to gravitate towards not really liking them. Maybe you can convince me otherwise?

Septic Flesh because Septic Flesh.

Ditto.  But, since we're all here, we can toss music at the new guy instead of chairs.

So have this.

Required listening, amazing band.  Sad they aren't around anymore.

The only Slipknot song I actually liked was Snuff

Which was one of the most beautiful songs I've heard from a heavier band

And as for Asking Alexandria and Alesana......Don't keep your hopes up on meeting a fan of those types of bands around here

The kind of metal that most of us listen to is way off of that sort of stuff

But we won't judge you at all, you're free to listen to what you want to listen to

And I agree on throwing music at the new guy

I can't decide which vocalist I prefer, from Digital Veil or Nocturne. Both are so different, it's crazy that they both sang for the same band.

Fantastic guitar work though. Sure is a loss that they aren't making any music :/

Converge (Jane Doe)

How come every single Converge fan recommends Jane Doe?

I'm not saying that it's a terrible album, but to me it's not a good starting spot

Surely, Converge are a great band for someone who wants to step out of the more popularized bands

But I never was able to listen to Jane Doe when I first heard it

I just found it too hard to listen to, and I never did become a fan of converge until I heard

All We Love We Leave Behind and Axe To Fall, those two albums to me are a better starting place than Jane Doe

Again, I'm not saying that Jane Doe is a bad album, it's a damn masterpiece, but to me it just isn't a great starting spot

For someone wanting to get into Converge's music

Well when you put it that way, I think "You Fail Me" may be the best spot to start. It's like "Jane Doe" without that wall of sound that you get throughout that whole record.

I haven't listened to You Fail Me yet

Though it does sound like something that would be a better recommendation than Jane Doe
