I know this has absolutely nothing to do with your post, but Kyoko is my favorite Madoka Magica character.  And she's my current iPod wallpaper.

They're making a movie for it this year, ya know. She better be in it, especially since she's _____ again.

My iPod wallpaper, too (fuck I'm such a n00b to this stuff).

Uhhh, random Aegaeon song to make this metal-related.

I'm gonna head off to bed now, so I'm just gonna leave some songs here, starting off with an awesome one from the album that Converge had released last year

And also here's a Dark Tranquility song

(Once again, too much modern prog lately).

Listened to Amogh Symphony's The Quantam Hack Code. It was very interesting, to say the least. Not much more I could ask for musically, it's unique, it's proggy, it sounds almost flambouyant in it's playing, and it's produced pretty heavily and has all these neat little electronic tricks in there. Also, it has a really interesting and complex story narrated before each track. I'll listen to it again to try and fully grasp what was going on in it.

THE BEST THING ABOUT COWARDS IS NO MATTER WHAT THEIR STRENGTH IS, WHEN EVERYTHING GOES WRONG THEY WILL ALL TURN UPON THEMSELVES.

Gah, I'm getting into this band something fierce.

The magical harmony that Hendrix brought with his music still lives on these days. What does a legend's cover of a legend, but then covered by another legend equal? A totally badarse song. From Michael Angelo Batio's Hands with Shadows 2: Voices. All Along the Watchtower originally by Bob Dylan but then covered by Jimi Hendrix, where the song got its popularity from.

Can't find a good YouTube video with the right sounding tone, so I uploaded the track myself.

Just bought Kill Em' All by Metallica.

I think "The Four Horsemen" is probably my favorite.

I also like the song "Motorbreath" quite a bit too.

The album is undisputedly one of the most influential Thrash Metal albums of all time. Every track on the album is a classic in its own right.

That feel when you can still get down to half of those bands. Mostly nostalgia, but I still can thoroughly enjoy quite a few of those.

On the opposite side of the punk spectrum:

I actually didn't recognize a lot of those bands/songs, except for MCR, Green Day, Paramore, and Fall Out Boy.

MCR is still one of my favorite bands, honestly.

Also, I have to say this one thing...

Hayley Williams from Paramore is the hottest girl ever!!!!!!!!!!!!!! <3 <3 <3

Listened to this a few days ago. It was pretty good, though it could do without the excerpts from the play it's based on actually being spoken by actors. It just felt out of place.

This, because Metallica is for total thrash newbs.

Is this necessary? At all? To me it's pretty evident that this was more than a little joke considering you're done this several times.

Metallica is one of the major bands that created thrash. You by no means have to like them, but at least respect what they've done as musicians. The big four of thrash is and always will be Megadeth, Anthrax, Slayer, and Metallica. They've changed musically since then, but you still have no right to put someone or a band down, especially when we're all talking about a common thing: metal, and all of it's glory. You can not like something and explain why, cool, I encourage that. I can't encourage the mocking or putting down of others for liking music or the musicians themselves. Yeah, sure, I'm just a bitchy dude over the internet trying to stop you, take it as you want. Just be warned that nobody appreciates when anyone else does something like this, especially in a place like this.

Dude, it was a small joke, calm down. Besides, I think Lars is a legitimately good drummer. No really, I think he did a good job with AJFA. As for the "Big Four", I think you could add Exodus and make it the "Big Five". IMO Exodus is just as good as Metallica, Slayer, Megadeth and Anthrax.

I dunno man, I've seen you get pretty hostile about some bands and all.

Ah, whatever. I'm feeling particularly bitchy tonight. You are forgiven, and given a few respect points 'specially or mentioning Exodus.

Let's put this all behind us, baby.

Some people may not agree with me but I think Gary Holt is just as good a guitarist as Dave Mustaine and Kirk Hammett. He also toured with Slayer filling in for Jeff Hanneman for health reasons. And by health reasons, I mean he had a flesh eating disease.

Pffft, who can actually decide on favorite bands for more than a month?

I sure can't. Or am I all alone on that one?

+10 points for Pig Destroyer, though. Didn't know you were into 'em all that much.

Whoa whoa whoa slow the fuck down, man. Meshuggah? I think every single last one of us here likes Meshuggah to some extent. Fuckin' djent and shit, man.

And what do y'all think of Koloss? At first I thought it was boring and even annoying at first, but listening to it a second and third and fourth and fifth time (after that awful intro track) it's a really fun album that you can really just sit there and bop your head to.

almost everyone who frequents this thread loves pig destroyer, bruh.

I was listening to them on the school bus today praying that no one would ask me what I was listening to.  Last time someone did that I was listening to Richard D James and the Aphex Twins and everyone thought I was some weirdo sad.png

Didn't say that. Djent is NOT a genre, it's a way you toy with the strings to make that sexy noise.

How can you compare this:

To this?

Only thing in common is that guitar technique, really. Sure, they're all progressive but that label contains so much diversity within itself.

Meshuggah count as Djent, I thought that they were just a plain Progressive Metal band. Damn, I need to start doing more Metal homework, and is Djent really even a genre I hear so much about people saying that it's just a style of Progressive Metal.
