Here's a little piece of morbid history. The lamentations of Joan of Arc, before she was burned at the stake, and the breaking of a French lord's heart and mind. Gille De Rais, who was later revealed to be a cereal killer, and was the inspiration for the fairytale Bluebeard. He was one of Joan's companions until she was killed. Afterwards he went insane and began dabbling in occult practices.

I've always liked that song but it never occurred to me that it was a Joan of Arc song. Dark Moor also does a song for her.

Though this seems to have more to do with her time in the military more than her burning.

Just barely discovered these guys but I love what I hear. <3

This is my current musical crack. :P

@@Discordian,

That's why I love Cradle, their lyrics are very well written, and poetic, on top of having very interesting historical references. One of my favorites being English Fire.

@@Midnight Scribbler, I've only heard a handfull of their songs but I definitely agree. They always have a way to make things sound dark and melodic but very beautiful at the same time. I've yet to hear a song I didn't like but the song that got me into them was Nymphetamine.

@@Discordian,

That's off the same album as English Fire. :D

I bought the special edition set with the bonus tracks, they do a couple covers and there's about 3 different versions of Nymphetamine. :P

Overall, it's an amazing album. If you liked it though, you'll probably like Midian and Damnation and a day. Both of those are my top picks for this band. Also, another band you'd like if you enjoy Cradle, is called Illnath. (Side note, their new vocalist sucks compared to their old one though) This is one their best.

@@EpiPony,

Damn dude. Those guys are pretty good. They're a bit comedic in terms of their name, but technically, they're brilliant. Awesome stuff.

@@Woohoo,

Free wheel burning is amazing. Judas Priest remains one of the most metal bands out there. Who else sings about a living metal angel riding a beast motorcycle with sawblades for wheels, and saves mankind from the brink of destruction? Seriously, that's the most metal thing I can think of! XD

On that note. Time to kick it old school. :D

Do metal bands sing about that kind of stuff anymore? Maybe in Europe...

More Priest

I fucking adore these guys.

They define exactly how spastic, aggressive deathcore should be: not taken too seriously, but got the shit to back itself up.

Exactly what you would expect from a pissed off marine.

Seems I'm a couple days late, but we have a tragic loss in the metal community  :( RIP Biquette.

Feelin' down with stuff like Gaza today.

Gotta love the chaos of hardcore, you know?

Also, Snailking is the only sludge band you'll ever need to listen to.

You're welcome.

Ah yeah, heard about that badassery. Apparently she ate cigarettes; not too surprising, but still.

Cailban's back with another face-crushing record.

I love how these guys are always changing up their sound to match with what the current trends and styles of metalcore are.... they don't sound much like they do on their debut, but then again they totally do. This band is pretty much a reflection of metalcore throughout the years, which is pretty damn cool.

Good song, but I'm wondering what the hell the drummer's doing during the verses. The kick hits seem to be in this off-beat, quarter note triplet rhythm. It's weird, but I kinda like it.
