I do! I love Death, they're definitely my favorite out of all the bands you listed. I have Scream Bloody Gore on vinyl. They were my favorite band for the longest time. Death metal and black metal are my two favorite metal subgenres, but for the longest time thrash was. In 8th grade I was obsessed with Slayer.

But a good place to seek metal recommendations is the metal thread. I'm pretty sure mods want to keep metal discussion in there :/

So anyway, with black metal, I'd recommend Emperor. They keep their sound raw, and the guitar work isn't bad either.

With thrash, assuming your already good with the Big 4, you might wanna check out Aspid, but they are very rare. There's also Testament, or the first Meshuggah album (Contradictions Collapse). Though they are relatively new, there is a nice thrash band called Evile who's worth listening to.

Eh, I don't dive into black metal that much. Personally, I'm turned away by the low recording quality. But I've heard a little Mayhem, and from what I heard, it isn't bad at all.

Hey don't mind me just popping into this thread and answering this.

I LOVE MAYHEM. De Mysteriis Dom Sathanas and Deathcrush are my favorite albums from them. As for Burzum, even though I despise Varg as a person, I've been listening to his music a lot lately. I can't get over the greatness of Jesus' Tod, and I like A Lost Forgotten Sad Spirit as well. Too bad all my metalhead friends hate Burzum because of Varg.

As much as it pains me to say it, that is the proper correction I am not well trained in Doom AT ALL

While I don't praise any Death album as much as The Sound of Perseverance, Individual Thought Patterns as some nice tracks, too.

But one of the best bands I have ever had the honor of listening to is Blind Guardian. I believe they are a Power Metal band, but they have some soft songs as well. I am not an expert in this genre, so if you guys could explain to me exactly what it is, it would be much appreciated! I guess I should post some of their music right quick:

Forgive me, I have just joined, and am kind of worried to make anyone hate me within moments of joining! I've posted some Blind Guardian before on other forums, and I was actually rediculed for my tastes. Nice to see such diversity on this forum however! I wish I was into more types of metal, which is why I am now following this thread!

I think my favorite album from them would have to be A Night at the Opera. A really solid album from start to finish, but I'm also a big fan of Tales From the Twilight World and At the Edge of Time. I really like the direction they're going with their music. If I had to name a favorite song, it tends to change from week to week, but I've always really liked "The Soulforged".
