technology I need computer help, please?

Actually, you can send it to any store not just the one which you bought it from.

Assuming the store "Budget PC" is not a chain, it may be worthwhile to take it back to the same store since we certainly don't want them to be paying for a repair that should be covered under a warranty of some sort...

I know it sounds really stereotypical and bad but I heard it was a really good store with good techs and they certainly were friendly and helpful.

And there's only that store or MediaMarkt nearby and MediaMarkt is a giant chain and I don't like their protocol service. They don't care about the people they help, just money they can cash in.

Then its most likely a hardware issue, :D.   The techs at the store should be able to diagnose the problem for you, :).  Yet, due keep us posted, b/c we're looking forward to hear wat it was.

Alright, it could be a hardware issue. Which is a shame considering the computer is new.

it probably has been badly installed.

Please do keep us posted.

I want to know :)

Okay so the shop I bought it from is on holiday for 3 weeks! So. I googled what a RAM stick looks like, opened my computer and had a look!

There's two sticks out of four slots. The right one wasn't fully secured and could be easily pulled out without pressing the white buttons on each side. So I put it back and secured it properly.

I hope that was it. Now just having issues with the language packs failing install because it froze in the middle of the first install.

This is testing me so much v.v

Alright.

So, first, two sticks means that each stick is 4 Go. Ok.

Now, the language packs. What's that  ? Is that an update or something else ?

Or did you download that manually ? Is there an error message ? Does it freeze everytime you try to install it ?

On a side note, I would recommend buying two extra sticks. No need to waste two slots, right ?

The language packs are for windows. Because it's in Dutch and I don't understand it. So I want it in English or Danish. And my keyboard is Danish but doesn't have the software so the buttons are all messed up.

But the install just keep failing. No freezing so far.

The loose stick could definitely have been the cause of your freezing issues. Fingers crossed that it was the culprit and that this language pack is a different issue.

And just before I'm headed to bed my pc freezes again. Gah so annoying. I just want to play my game. :/

Gonna mess around with the RAM sticks tomorrow I think.

I just left the language packs for now.

So I left the machine on in safe mode over night and there was no crash all night.

I took out one RAM stick (the one that was loose) and ran the pc with just one. But it froze after just ten minutes. So I put it back and took out the other and the same thing happened. So I put both in again.

I cleaned it completely, uninstalling windows and everything. Then installed it again and got the language packs to work.

Now I'm installing my game but it's freezing every ten-twenty minutes now.

I don't even know anything anymore.

Alright, Time to do some diagnostic tests.

First, the RAM.:

Download memtest86+

http://www.memtest.org/#downiso

Download the pre-compiled bootable ISO (.zip)

Extract the file to obtain the ISO

You, then need to burn the ISO file on a CD or DVD

Then, restart the computer and boot on the CD.

Run the test for at least 2 passes but no more than 4.

Take a photo and post back the results. Generally, if there are no red lines, this means that the RAM is OK and we can move onto the hardrive test.

I don't have a cd or dvd ready unfortunately. Is there anything else I can do?

Yep. Of course.

You can use a USB stick. First, you have to make sure that the USB stick is bootable and that using your motherboard, it is possible to boot on a USB stick (which I think it is).

Once you made sure that the stick was bootable, you will have to :

Download Memtest86+ Auto-installer for USB Key.

Extract the file and click on the installer.exe

Follow the instructions and then select your USB stick when instructed to do so. Make sure to select the correct letter.

Tick the (recommended) box to format the stick in FAT32. ALL FILES WILL BE DELETED.

Then, follow the instructions ("create", and "next", and "finish") .

Then, boot from the USB stick.

So I finally got my pc back from the repairshop :)

It was apparently something with the prossessor that was wrong. They put in a new one and it works perfectly now! (so far anyway :P)

Just thought I'd let you guys know :D

Thanks for all of your interest and trying to help :)
