gaming Oh you loved Tomb Raider? Well sorry you lose.

So I hope Crystal Dynamics fails and Rise of The Tomb Raider bombs. Why you ask? Well CD basically sweet talked everyone who can't play the game on PS4/PC because Microsoft gave them billions( most likely) to make Rise of The Tomb Raider exclusive to the Irrelevant 900p Xbox One. I loved the reboot of Tomb Raider and many other people who played it on PC/360/PS3 did as well. So basically if you were hyped for the sequel... Sorry, go buy an X1 for one game and enjoy kinect and "the power of the cloud"

I saw ReviewTechUSA's video on this as well. I never played the Tomb Raider series, but this is an extremely stupid move to make. It's an even more dickish move when you remember that the latest entry, despite selling 4 million copies, was a financial failure.

What idiots...  >_>

10 million is not going happen in sales units. Games today are not selling like they did in the 90s. CD should be happy that people purchased 6 million units and it was critically acclaimed.

PS4 also selling 10 million units is pathetic. Back over a decade ago, Sony racked in nearly 200 million unit sales from the PS1/PS2 combined. So Sony would have been guilty if they pulled this off. I am in favor of supporting third party companies only. I can't trust Nintendo and Sony anymore. I never trusted Microsoft from the start.

I wouldn't really blame MS. The head of Crystal Dynamics, which is making Tomb Raider said;

"This doesn’t mean that we’re walking away from our fans who only play on PlayStation or on PC. Those are great systems, with great partners, and amazing communities. We have Lara Croft and the Temple of Osiris coming to those platforms this December, and Tomb Raider: The Definitive Edition is available on PS4."

Which is a bunch of BS because he totally is. Darrell Gallagher (head of Crystal Dynamics) wants this game only on the Xbone because he knows that when a game is exclusive the company it's exclusive to works their ass off to market it super hard. Crystal Dynamics will probably make more money this way, by saving money on marketing, and that seems to be all they care about anyway.

Yeah and what about people on PC? Those people who have Microsoft's unstable OS that sadly is the only OS to use for practically everything. The OS franchise that grossed hundreds of billions of dollars since the corporation's inception. PC gamers again, get screwed over.

While I'm a bit disappointed I can't say I'm very angry. I lived through the SNES/Genesis and PS1/N64 eras where 3rd party exclusives were a common thing. I have to agree that business wise it is a good decision as exclusives are a deciding factor when it comes to consoles and it is a way to bring some real competition back to the gaming industry.

Despite having only an Xbox, I think this is a dumb move. It doesn't make sense seeing as the Tomb Raider 2013 was on both consoles, it seems fair that Rise of the Tomb Raider should've also been on both consoles. This is why I hate exclusivity. Not only does it alienate an audience, it also means not everyone can experience game and instead have to fork out money to get the required console.

Microsoft hates gaming. They don't make revenue off the xbox brand. They almost sold the brand to Google or Amazon. Microsoft knows PC gaming would ruin them, because anyone can use a computer or give companies like ASUS, IBM, Intel or AMD more cash. Microsoft doesn't even want to fully support the hardware industry. They know they can give you an overpriced welfare box and overcharge you on games.

I don't care about Tomb Raider, but I HATE console exclusives. I understand it to a certain extend with franchises like Mario or Halo, because companies need a reason for you to buy their console over the competition. But the Tomb Raider remake was on every console, wasn't it? It doesn't make any sense at all for its sequel to be an xbone exclusive. The only thing that is going to accomplish is to piss off the fans.

I am a Xbox One user, and I am on a budget. Xbox has just as fair pricing as any other console, you are saying things with 0 backing

1440p at 120fps will not happen. But as a PC gamer, I'm not supporting Crystal Dynamics anymore.

Wow. Just wow.

Despite having zero interest in the Tomb Raider reboot, even I can see that's a dick move.

Well, stuff like this just makes me hate MS even more, not that I haven't already hated them for years, so that really doesn't mean much. I doubt the new Tomb Raider will be a lifetime exclusive. I haven't cared about Tomb Raider since Naughty Dog started the Uncharted series, mind you. I heard the latest reboot revived the Tomb Raider franchise, but I never bothered to check it out, since the series has been dead to me for years. I was thinking of trying to get back into the series, but now I don't think I will. In other news, No Man's Sky won't be coming to the XB1 and it looks amazing.

This is why it's best to own all gaming platforms if you're a gamer, and also because Square Enix are terrible at making buisness decisions.  It's a good move by Microsoft though, considering they now have their own "Uncharted", unless it's just a timed exclusive.

Also, I think the Xbox One is good.  The Kinect doesn't get in the away like the 360's did and it's completely optional now, so you don't have to own one.  The 900p issue will be sorted out in the next year or two most likely, so I don't consider it a problem.

Back during the SNES and PS1/Saturn/N64 eras, console exclusives had a legitimate reason to exist. It was usually different fanbases, different hardware (for example, the Nintendo 64 infamously used cartridges when the Saturn and PlayStation used CD-ROMs, and the SNES and Genesis/Mega Drive were based on two different CPU architectures) or different developers only having the resources to develop for that one platform. Nowadays, the only reason why they exist is to sell consoles. Without them, the PS4 and Xbox One would be irrelevant by now. There is absolutely nothing about the PS4 or PC that can't handle Rise of the Tomb Raider.

Have you heard of the Asus ROG PG278Q Swift? That's a 1440p/144Hz monitor.

You can pull it off (barely) with SLI Titan Blacks on games that are properly optimized/old, but even then there's no real point since the human eye can rarely see the difference between 1080p and 1440p, and 90fps and 120fps.

Yeah and we also need A 780TI to enable HDMI 2 to even work. People are just now affording native 1080p and 1080p is over 20 years old.

So is 1440p. Back in the 1980s it was expected for 1440p to become the standard resolution for HDTV as it's exactly 4 times the width and 3 times the height of 640x480. Also, the PG278Q only has DisplayPort for input, so no HDMI, DVI or even VGA.
