I don't think we're in ponyville anymore

I have a theory that Season Five is probably going to start branching out from Ponyville in the future. If you have seen the animatic sneak peak then you know there is a certain plot device that will remain unspecified that tells the mane six trouble is afoot someplace else.

 

I have a feeling said plot device is going to be the segway into going to places like Sadle Arabia and other places mentioned but never shown in the seasons prior. With it they will be able to explore beyond the boundries of Equestria without too much Lengthy Exposition needed.

 

How would you feel about Season five branching beyond ponyville? How do you think the show would be different? Would this take away from the slice of life episodes?

Twilight has her own castle and I think that there will be a lot of episodes that have to do with that castle.

I think that's a safe assumption. The show's scope has been slowly expanding over the seasons, and with the whole "my job is to spread friendship throughout Equestia" thing Twilight has going on I'd say it's fairly likely we'll see more episodes outside of Ponyville than in previous seasons.

Yes, I certainly believe they will be travelling all over Equestria. I don't think it will necessarily take away from the slice of life-ness of the show. Remember Care Bears? They always travelled to a different place on Earth on that show and it stayed grounded.

 

Come to think of it, this new plot device could make FIM very Care Bearsy.

yeah maybe but hey that animatic was for a season premiere, they usually do things like this. Heck, Ponyville didn't appear AT ALL in the season 3 premiere two-parter.

We've seen a small amount of the other places, but thanks to S5 animatics, I have a feeling there's going to be an actual story arc with adventures and whatnot. Anyhow, I don't think the mane 6 are going to go too far away from ponyville.

It's not like they're going to travel across the world, but who knows.

I believe it would be cool to see the mane 6 travel to different places in Equestria and even beyond that. It would keep the show fresh. I just hope the show doesn't go too far in that direction.

 

During the S5 animatic, Spike says that the map in Twilight's castle shows "all of Equestria and a whole bunch more!" That means they could be going even beyond Equestria during S5.

Those who paid attention to Magic Duel probably are familiar with this. We've seen the delegates from Saddle Arabia, and if memory serves well at the Season 4 finale the fellow ponies greeted the duke and duchess of Maretonia.

 

So here's the thing, do you think there's a possibility that the later seasons would cover other countries/kingdoms outside of Equestria? Maybe episodes in which the mane six adventures into Saddle Arabia or somewhere else?

I think it will happen, I really liked the design of the Duke and Duchess of Maretonia, and I don't think they took time to draw them like this just for 2 episodes where they are in the background. Actually, I hope they'll become important characters.

 

Same goes for the 2 horses/ponies from Saddle Arabia.

FOR THE LOVE OF LUNA PLEASE YES!!! Er uh... *Ahem*  I would very much enjoy seeing them branch out, they need to expand their options some. Canterlot and Ponyville are nice but... We have seen sooooooooo much of it! We haven't even really seen much of Everfree, let alone all these other places they keep talking about. It would be nice to color in that map a bit

Yes, the castle seems to be able to show trouble (or at least interesting things) in Equestria  They seem to be aiming for a more Rescue Heroes look.  I hope not, because, to me, the relationship issues are more interesting than the straight super adventures.  I want to watch Teen Titans, I'll watch TT. MLP is way better. 

 

Still, we might see where Zecora comes from, or see the Griffons homeland.
