gaming Childhood games?

Omega Centauri

Recommended Posts

I recently found a working, downloadable version of Turok Evolution, a game that came out in 2002 (i think)?. And I loved that game to death as a kid, and now that I've played it again, I still do!

Some of my other favorite childhood games include Pokemon Gens 2 and 3, The legend of zelda: Ocarina of time, twilight princess and wind waker, Super smash bros. melee, the spiderman games for ps1 and ps2, Timesplitters 2, star wars rebel strike: rougue squadron 3, Sonic adventure 2, Star wars: bounty hunter, and there's probably many I can't remember. My parents used to be gamers, so I've been gaming for as long as i can remember.

What are some of your favorite games that you played as a kid?

...But that's just my opinion.

To this day my favorite childhood game is Wild Arms 2. I'm still a massive Wild Arms fan and I just played Wild Arms 5 a couple weeks ago.

You could say it's influenced my life.

Obligatory NES/SNES post with all the big games of the era Mario, Zelda and Star Fox.

On PC, Doom is the obvious/awesome game. Loved playing all the arena style FPS games like Quake 1/2/3 and Unreal Tournament.

Spent an extraordinary amount of time playing PSO on my Dreamcast. Memories of the dialing/loading screen and the LOBBY MUSIC coming back to me. :squee:

Age of Empires 1 & 2. I spent countless hours playing that game.

Also there was this ww2 plane game I use to have, I don't remember the name though. The levels I played were mainly in the water (and I actually didn't know what war it was until years after I'd lost the disc and from memory I've learned it was ww2 out in the pacific). I also remember kamikaze-ing even though I'm sure I was an american fighter pilot.

Also Jurassic Park Operation Genesis, I use to have heaps of fun on that. I remember making a super awesome park and then getting bored and releasing all of the dinosaurs (or using the tourist jeep to drive around in their huge enclosures)

And I will never forget all the hard work I put into Roller-coaster Tycoon 1 & 2, hell I remember getting 2 expansion packs for RCT2, and I eventually got RCT3 but didn't play it as much as the others. I loved making custom parks in that game.

And last but not least, Carnivores. We got the disc from my dad's friend and I was young and I'd get scared at the ambient noise which was a t-rex roar.  That game terrified me when I played but I always loved to watch other people play.

I never played it until 2011, but I remember watching my brother play Diablo 2 a lot.

Edit:

Some I forgot, like on the gamecube. Played a ton of this monsters inc dodgeball game, I use to play the craaaaaaaap out of that with my sister. and lego star wars (1, 2, and the complete saga). I'd spend the night with my friend and we'd play it allllll the tiiiiiime.

Another one was Halo 1 and 2. I remember my dad would wait for me to get home and me and him would play the campaign in co-op, now THAT is a fond memory.

Toontown is another one I played, before you had to pay and crap I got really far with the sound gags and as far as I know I was one of the people with the most sound gags without ever spending money on the game but probably not (but I was out of the people I knew that played it)

Although it came a little later, during the summer between 4th and 5th grade, world of warcraft which has influenced me the most, in my art and definitely my creativity. I still play it today, I've been playing that damn game for 7 long years.

Counting out the Tales games (because I'm biased as hell) Wild Arms 2 is actually one of the last games I played through all the way to the end and loved all the way through. Timothy and Brad all the way! I remember renaming Irving to Sephiroth and that was hilarious as whenever my brother would walk in and watch me play for a while and seen irving, we would make jokes about him constantly.  I also renamed Ashely to Ash, but I think that's as far as I went with the renaming. And I made jokes about the dude with the key (chick I think Actually? I remember reading that it was suppose to be a guy in love with the main antagonist) about him being from kingdom Hearts. Ah, I love that game lol. I actaully owned Wild ARMs 3 before that and I did get into it, but for some reason I found that game incredibly hard. I dunno my friend said it was awesome but I didn't get to play it all the way through.

Cheria (right) is a small town girl who was afflicted with a terrible sickness when she was very young. Meeting Sophie changed that however. She recovered almost instantly from her illness due to Sophie's magic and gained an undeniable talent with her own, and what does she do with this magic? She acts as a healer for her small town and helps the militia keep the hostile border safe. Seven years later, she's started a nation-wide relief organization after her adventure with Sophie and Friends, a great connection to the element of generosity.

Blinx the time sweeper was my personal favorite. And even though I hammered the crap out of the levels for 5 years straight, I still haven't got the final sweeper. :(((((((((((((((((((((((((((((

I love going into topics like these and finding out about games I've never heard of before. Gives me more games to look into so I can play-all-the-games.jpg

The only characters I ever renamed were Ashley to Ash (because I thought Ashley as a guy's name was weird at the time, before I found out it was gender neutral), Altaecia to Ashley (because I found her name hard to pronounce) and Lilka to Lika (for the same reason as Altaecia).

Caina, the key wielder, is a woman in the English translation but is actually a guy in the original. They changed it so as not to offend their western readers, as localization teams had a tendency to do with games back then.

Wild Arms 3 can be difficult since berries are hard to come by at times and the damage mechanics are built in a way that make you have to really pay attention to your health and Vitality. Virginia's low health can be a major problem early in the game too but it eases up as you get farther and she gets more health. It helps that she's almost always the first to go thanks to her high speed though. She's a great item healer thanks to that and Mystic.

Wow... So many memories coming back to me.

I'm only 17 and my brother is 22 so my childhood games expand from the early 90s to 2006-8 so...

Most of them are from the PS1 and PS2 (we didn't care much for other consoles... I didn't even know what a N64 was :/)
To keep this list short, I'll only list my favorites of the ones I played and still play today:
Crash Bandicoot 3 (Seriously, what happened to Crash?)
Crash Bash

Crash Team Racing (My copy doesn't work for some reason anymore :( )
Spyro the Dragon
Croc Legend of the Gobbos
Worms
Tom and Jerry Game (Best. Multiplayer. Experience. I. Ever. Had!)

The Dog Island (Yes, the game Game Grumps played not that long ago...)

Dogz 2 (ON THE PS2! The game is different on PC and stuff...)
Dog's Life (So many dogs!!)
Shadow of the Colossus

GTA San Andreas
Bully: Canis Canem Edit or whatever
Some Eyetoy and Buzz games :P
Tony Hawk's American Wasteland

I'll also name Nintendogs on the DS because it was my first game on my first console :P That's why I bought my 3DS with Nintendogs + Cats... Felt right :D
