I am not a girl, but my daughter is. And she loves MLP.

As a guy, my 2 cents worth.  Women who do "guy stuff" like being a tomboy or being in the military often have their sexuality questioned. (Who mentioned Rainbow Dash? Not me)

 

This is the guy's side of it.   The Elvis Costello song "What's So Funny About Peace, Love, and Understanding?"  Well, they are considered girl things & if a guy does it, people question his sexuality.  You see a woman on a bench in a park talking to little kids, nobody considers she might be a kidnapper or a child molester.  Guys who do the same thing take their life in their hands doing it (I concede there are reasons for this)

 

Bronies behavior is part of the same thing.  Their behavior is considered unacceptable.  Guys tend to respond to this by acting out & getting in your face about it.  One of the previous posters mentioned having positive reactions to having MLP stuff on her purse.  Get one of the guys in your life to put some on his backpack or belt pouch & see what happens.

I would assume that the term "girl" refers to female members of the unconventional fanbase because the target audience is still the overwhelming majority of fans. Even in the unconventional fanbase, females are a sizable portion.

I'd say girls are more likely to like MLP, but as others have mentioned, not all members on the forum are girls. ^^

Yes.  I'm a girl myself, and have a lot of girlfriends who also enjoy and like the show as much as guys.

 

I do think there are more guys who are interested in the show, but not too much more than girls.

I think the actual show stats would show that the vast majority of viewers are girls. The Brony community is very vocal, but actually only a fraction of the overall viewership. Besides, as others have said, this forum is not all guys!

Yes, there are older female fans of My Little Pony and also produce high quality fanmade content.

 

Just a few more prominent ones off the top of my head; there is pixelkitties who creates awesome and funny artwork.

 

ILoveKimPossibleAlot, Ink Rose, and PoetessMLP do episode reviews, character analysis, and a few animations.

 

Rina-Chan and Nowhacking both do voice work for fan animations.

Yes! in fact I am personally female, MLP is enjoyed by both males and females (bronies and pegasisters) though males are considered more commonly fans of the show us pegasisters tend to enjoy too...
