If FiM's creative team were all bronies

How do you think FiM would've turned out if the show's creative team and writers were all bronies? What stuff could it have that the show today doesn't? For all I know we'd see more stallions, more places in Equestria to explore, a bit more adventure oriented moments, as well as more dramatic moments. The characters would have more depth, like knowing what happened to Applejack's parents, Cadence would be a unicorn instead of an alicorn, and Twilicorn would not exist (even though Lauren Faust intended it to happen at some point in the future). Also, we would've gotten a full length movie sooner, just replace the EQG movies with good pony movies.

Wait, but bronies wouldn't exist until the show is created. This is a paradox.

Anyhow, I think the people who make the show are already basically bronies at this point. They really love and care about the show and actually geek out about it if you read the stuff they say. There are just practical limitations on what they can or can not do with the show.

Now if we could somehow go back in time, and allow the lunatics to run the asylum from the beginning? The show probably wouldn't make it past the pilot. A certain amount of distance from the fandom and the creative process is a good thing, otherwise you'd just have really predictable episodes dictated by brony group-think and with lots of really esoteric fandom references that would drive casual fans away.

I'm pretty sure, like Anda already said, they are already bronies, but with better limits on their fanboy-ism than most  Least, let's hope it stays that way. I'm still waiting for them to do something really terrible, like do some real shipping, like making Twilight and Flash actually hook up or Flutters and Discord or Big Mac, or just something really dumb like that. In the meantime though, for the most part I like their decisions, and I hope they keep up the good work!

I don't agree with most of your changes so I guess I'm not a Brony. ;) Other than being more consistent and giving us more back story I'm pretty happy with the show. Princess Twilight Sparkle long may she reign!

Everything burns.

Now, assuming that we're avoiding all these paradoxes and the likes, and assuming that(somehow) the show was run by modern bronies(perhaps, as a scenario, we could apply this to Season 5 specifically), EVERYTHING BURNS.

No, really. There'd be in-fighting out the wazoo. Every episode would be about attempting to prove who is "best pony". The animation would be filled to the brim with every reference and self-insert under the sun. Plot would be completely removed, in order to make room for the copious amounts of plot.

It'd be a disaster. I'm sure Twilight would eventually lose her wings in some weird Mane 6 intimate time episode.

Are you saying it isn't?

I'm going to assume you meant "What if the show was suddenly run by some random inexperienced bronies who don't know what they're doing?"

We'd probably get this:

Ignoring the terrible animation, this is what happens when you don't know how proper pacing, story structure, three-dimensional characters, believable dialogue, and worldbuilding works.

Wouldn't the FIM staff technically all be bronies seeing as they would have to be fans of their own show to enjoy making it?

In all seriousness, it depends on the type of bronies you get. If you get the ones who can write fairly decent pony fanfiction and not let their silly headcannons get in the way of the show's quality, then that could work.

However, that's only a small portion of the fandom. Too many do we see fan animations that are poorly written like Double Rainboom and Fall of the Crystal Empire. Most likely, the bronies would get the mentality that they're headcannons would be perfect for the show, no matter how far fetched they are. Here's probably what would happen if this were the case. They would:

Remove Twilight's wings

Establish that anything passed season 2 never happend

Have Derpy appear every second

Make Rainbow Dash come out of the closet

Have every character be the personality they are given by the fandom (ex. Pinkie making Dash into Cupcakes).

Have a background pony appear just to make a fandom joke every second.

Which would leave us with nothing of substance. So basically, they would make the equivalent to Double Rainboom.

I dunno. I don't think I'd want the Brony fanbase to be on the inside track and help work on the show (I don't want FoE or fan headcanon taking over MLP as it currently is)  But as far as product development? Hasbro needs to fire their current team, and hire  some artsy Bronies. Guarantee we'd have more characters as merch, and of much better quality than Hasbro's (and Funrise) making them.

I wouldn't know firsthand, but I'm pretty sure the relationship the show's staff have with FiM would be different than we would as fans. I would hope they enjoy what they do, and I am positive they do because if they didn't it would probably show in the final product, but as the ones behind the show it's highly doubtful they look at it the same way we do. They should be satisfied with their finished product, and they may even be required to review past episodes at times when creating new ones, but it will never be just entertainment or just a hobby to them, and I'm sure their ability to sit back and simply be fans of what they've made has some limits.

That's not to say they can't enjoy the products of their labour in their own spare time, but they would look at everything from a different perspective. That could explain why they have a different opinion on things like when staff say what their favorite season is, they often go with 1 or 2 while 2 and 4, especially 4, are bigger among fans.

As for whether Bronies could make a better show, I think not. Even the best fanfic writers have biases about certain plot points and towards certain headcanons. Besides, the writers the show does have are able to make a series that we all appreciate, and inspires all these fanworks. I'm all for the show's staff being open to fan input, but I think in this case I'm glad the reins of this series are out of our hands.

I'm pretty sure most of the staff aren't bronies; they just work for Hasbro/DHX. I think that's a good thing. If they were bronies they'd either over-pander the fans, write whatever strikes their fancy (which would be highly unprofessional), and steer the show away from it's target/core audience. The show's made to get little girls to puppy-eye their parents into buying the toy line. I don't think bronies will have enough money to keep Hasbro satisfied like parents' wallets can, so eventually the show would come to a stop. No more MLP, eventually bronies get bored and the fandom dies out. The anti-bronies will laugh over the fandom's grave. I'd rather they not.

There are a ton of bronies out there who have great ideas for episodes and good headcannons, but I don't think they would make a better show. There would be fandom jokes all the time (even if the current staff does this already sometimes, it's still limited), and it would be better to be surprised by the staff instead of seeing what we want all the time.

Plus have you seen some of the fandom's fanmade episodes? Yeah.. I'm just thankful the show is the way it is today.

Given how many mistakes/oversights they have done and how carelessly they treat background ponies, I think most of them are not bronies or at least less brony than common bronies.

e.g. There were two Amethyst Star in Sisterhooves Social, She was watching herself racing!

I guess they didn't even know her name. :okiedokielokie:

But as noted, it's probably a good thing that they are not bronies.

The only evil is ignorance.

It would be weird calling the creators of something the same name as the fans. But I bet a lot of the creative team like the show and the Universe they are creating, so that makes them fans.

I'm pretty sure Katie Cook and Andy Price are fans, that doesn't mean that they like sticking sterotypical brony ideas into their comics.

What you just described is but a few shades from a wide variety of colorful creativity, within the brony community.

It's little bit mixed up, in terms of personal taste, when it comes to bronies. So, it would be something. Something indeed!

There would be so much diversity all over the place, I don't really know what might be end up happening.

I think you're pretty spot-on. The good that would come out of it would be that the show would be more gender-balanced to reflect the changing audience, it would be more adventure-oriented, and it would have more depth and development. However, we don't know how this would reflect on the slice-of-life stories that make up the bulk of the series, nor do we know how it would connect to the original target audience. There is also the likelihood that there would be more pop culture references in the show. While that would be fun and amusing if done right, you don't want to throw in too much humor that could go over the audience's heads, and you don't want it to slow down and detract from the plot.

Wait, wait, wait.

So you're saying that if the writers were bronies, which didn't exist until the show was creative...

Were bronies and then pretty much created bronies...

Did they go forward in time to see what happened and then go back in time to decide to be a brony and change the show which was already a brony show?

Or maybe...

Okay, time to be serious: It would be Double Rainboom and Dusk's Dawn times ogre 9000.

I'm all for waiting longer for quality pony movies then having to tolerate EQ.

I really think they should implement more Zecoraesque characters A cause she's awesome and B because it's good to have a multicultural nod in a show like this

I don't think good fan is the correct term to use. That implies that there is a correct way to be a fan.

I think the word should be good writer. The fans could want things that could bring more depth to the show, but the question is can they write it to be good? It's like how with fanfiction they add things they want to be in the show, but the story isn't executed well.

True, even fewer fans are good writers.

I agree with this, sadly. I don't think most bronies would be very good at making episodes of the show without overdosing it on all the fandom favorites. Don't get me wrong, many bronies are amazingly creative and write superb fiction/make superb fanart, but for the most part I'm afraid the show's overall quality would plummet.
