Renaissance polyphonic choral music is what, back when I was religious, I described as 'heavenly'. Although now I know that's just because I've been conditioned to think that way, just take a listen.

 

 

Impressionistic orchestral music also first gave me that impression:

 

 

These two genres are the most surreal I know of. I can't really explain it, because no other genre (not even other classical genres) has these qualities... They're just somehow there in these two, and they make me feel like my mind has gone off somewhere else.

I have posted this in so many threads, I must continue to do so! This might be a bit heavy in certain parts for a 'heavenly' sound but that is the word that can describe it, heavenly. As well as amazing, godlike, powerful, the balance of the cosmos, I could go on. It has the right mix of beauty, peace, and intensity.
