Alright, I've came to a conclusion. I don't think Luna's going to win.

 

I agree that Rarity's the favorite to win it, but I think it's a little early to call it.  Luna's still only down 8 votes at the moment.  There's still something like 10 days left.

 

We haven't even begun to lose.

Thing is, there is no fathomable way we could've created duplicate accounts to boost vote count

 

Every new account begins in the Blank Flanks group. Accounts don't have the ability to vote in any poll on this entire site unless they're out of the blank flanks group, meaning they need at least 5 posts in places where posts count. The places that would be easy to rack up posts quickly, the Welcoming Plaza and the Forum Games, don't add to your count total whenever you post there, so you have to make 5 posts in other areas of the forums.

 

What brought this on was the belief that Rarity's vote count shot up abnormally quick, but the truth of the matter is it's just entirely impossible due to the way this site regulates new accounts. It wouldn't be possible to make 5 posts with 5 different accounts at the speed her vote count shot up It not only did it not happen (Like Deflategate! ), but it couldn't have happened due to the way the forums are run

 

Ah well. I still am all in for Rarebear to win it all, accusations or not

Alright, I've came to a conclusion.

I don't think Luna's going to win.

Just think about it people.

We're going up against one of the most popular characters on the forums, who happens to have the largest fan club.

Rarity has about 3x more fans on this site than Luna does.

So yes, this poll will be extremely bias.

Rarity could beat anypony in this poll on this site.

I am sure of it.

But is this because more people find her more attractive?

I doubt it.

I understand there are sincere folk here casting their vote for Rarity who legit find her attractive.

But I can't just help feeling like people cast their vote for her just because it's their favorite pony.

What has lead me to this conclusion is the type of posts I've seen by most of the people who are for Rarity and a few that were for Luna.

While I admire some of the excellent and well drawn out posts on why Rarity is attractive and the actual fan art posted once and a while that's a bit cute, I can't help but notice the folks who post "Yay! Go Rarity" and then post a bit of fan art that's not even remotely attractive.

And then this whole "Most Attractive Pony Tournament" turns into a "Who's your favorite pony?" thread.

But to be honest, this is how every single poll seems to end when there's two left.

Attractiveness doesn't necessarily mean desirable. I know that I myself along with probably a lot of others voted on the design and style of the characters rather than who we find *ahem* more "appealing". I myself simply find Rarity's white/purple contrast more aesthetically pleasing than the dark blues of Luna. When I post a picture of Rarity it's not because I find it alluring or attractive in the way that others do, but because I think it is a good picture that accentuates what I like about Rairty's design.

 

That said you do have a point about people voting purely on which pony they like more regardless of appearance, but I can assure you that if Luna had the larger fanbase on the forums you would undoubtedly see a lot more of that on her side. It's unfair to say that there are fewer sincere Rarity fans than Luna fans when in fact the ratios are probably very similar, Rarity only seems to have more because she has more fans in this community. Compared to other polls I've seen covering similar matters, this is actually one of the least biased.

And to me, Luna's color scheme seems dark and majestic.

But that all boils down to just what you're into.

I was referring to the fact that DeflateGate is/was stupid as bricks and more of baseless accusations being thrown around. LOL! You're right, that stuff is unfathomable.

Well given Rarity's obsession for being seen as attractive being such a big part of her personality I think it's pretty understandable that her biggest fans also are rather concerned with the concept of her being attractive. I'd say other favorites are less likely to be concerned with their pony actually winning the title, so they are more likely to be more flexible in their considerations.

Well, they do say that "imitation is the sincerest form of flattery." I guess that means Luna admires Rarity enough to copy her. Rarity might still be ahead, but Luna isn't far behind. Seeing as these ponies arguably have the two biggest fanbases, there's no telling who will win.

What you see as attractive may not be attractive to another.

In no way do I find Rarity attractive.
