Any Pro-Wrestling Fans Around?

So, NXT: Wargames and Survivor Series happened. Brief recap.

Spoiler

Cons:

  • Too damn long ( after skipping entrances, backstage segments and ads saved me an hour)
  • Commentary sucked
  • Miz Vs. Corbin was meh.
  • Women's match had too many quick eliminations and a few botches.
  • Main event devolved from SDL v. Raw to HHH vs. Shane. Pretty much everyone who was in NXT were the first to loose. Nakamura and Rhoode were the first to go by Strowman in back to back pins. Cena was wasted. The point was to make HHH, Shane & Braun look strong.
  • Owens & Zayne made to look weak. Again.

Pros:

  • Shield/New Day was a great match.
  • Tag champs match was entertaining.
  • Alexa Bliss looked strong against Charlotte.
  • Styles/ Lesnar delivered. First singles meeting between 2 former IWGP champs in WWE. Both guys came out looking strong.

Alverez said it best. Solid mid-card. Sloppy main event. Old guys standing tall. It was a WCW PPV.

NXT: War games was the superior show. Fair length. Decent commentary. Better women's match than both women's contests on Survivor series combined. War games itself was a fun mess. But Alester Black vs. The Velveteen Dream was the surprise hit. Built very well. Well paced. Impressively executed. A rare showing of the mental game between two wrestlers as well.

Now that that's out of the way, we can focus on what matters: The G1 World Tag League tournament! Now running through the rest of this month.

Oh and ROH ran head to head against NXT in San Antonio. Not sure how good their show was, but I may have to check it out.

Also, RPW was running a show this weekend too. Also got rave reviews apparently.

A little late, but in light of the recent survivor series, how would you have done a 5 v 5 raw vs SD match in 03, when the brand split was at it's height. No injured stars, no Champs (exluding cruzerweight and womens).

For me it'd be:

Raw: hhh, hbk, booker t, y2j, and christian

Vs

SD: angle, taker, benoit, gurrero, mysterio

Your turn

How do you figure out that information?

I'll try anyway,

Raw

  1. Kane
  2. Shawn Michaels
  3. Bradshaw
  4. Jeff Hardy
  5. Christian

SmackDown

  1. Kurt Angle
  2. John Cena
  3. Big Show
  4. Eddie Guerrero
  5. Edge

Pretty much by remembering when they came back. Edge for example, was out w/ neck injury. Didn't return until backlash 04. Also, hardy was gone from wwe by November and would be in TNA the next year. And bradshaw was on SD. Made the jump as part of the apa.

On this week's Raw, Jason Jordan provided quite some unintentional comedy:

He got re-injured in a match with Braun Strowman, thus leading Jordan to admit that Strowman really is "The Monster Among Men"; however, not only was said re-injury Jordan's own fault instead of Strowman's, but said admission happened right after Strowman was himself injured by Kane.

I can barely remember what happens week to week in Present Day WWE so, going back to November 2003 WWE in particular

was difficult to look back on, IMO.

I saw this topic on another forum & thought it was a good question to ask here.

"Which match stipulations do you dislike in WWE?"*     *I'll count all wrestling though to make it more interesting.

I think my least favorite match stipulation is the "King of the Mountain" match from Impact Wrestling

due to how ridiculous the rules are.

Punjabi prison was pretty dumb. Also was not a fan of the classic strap match. Touching turnbuckles was a dumb rule. Kennel from hell had potential. Old school blue cage in a cell. But the story and dogs ruined it.

You wanna talk about dumb rules?

Wrestler's used to get disqualifed for throwing their oppponents over the top rope in the old days of WCW &

the National Wrestling Alliance.

Dusty finish. They did that once in ROH. Brent Albright v. Danielson title for title. Corino mentions that stip whenever he could back in the day.

Speaking of dumb rules, that disappointing and pointless "Triple H will lose his title if he gets disqualified" rule for his match with Randy Orton at WrestleMania 25.

IRL, even HHH and Orton themselves felt that it should've just been a No DQ match altogether.

They did the same thing with Randy Orton vs Christian for the World Heavyweight Championship

at Money in the Bank 2011.

Would've given them a fighting chance against hbk/taker at least. But then again, 09 wasn't one of wwe's brightest years.

It's not the dumbest rule. In that scenario, I think it worked well.

WWE wise, i'd have to say my least favorite stip is definately the Punjabi Prison Match. I just don't get the object of having two wrestlers climb bamboo covered metal.

Outside of WWE, it's Impact Wrestling's Reverse Battle Royal.
