Backstory (A little more about your character): Aspen was born in Phillydelphia, and grew up with no brothers or sisters. He was named after his grandfather, Aspen Limb. He did well in the school he was placed in. Growing up, Aspen always had wanted to be a comedian, because he always made his friends laugh at school. However, he went to his grandfather's orchard, which was a couple of miles outside the town of Ponyville, and immediately fell in love. He felt like he had really found his purpose, and received his cutie mark. His cutie mark, the trees behind a stream, is the view from his favorite tree, a gnarled old oak tree beside his grandfather's house. He went back to Phillydelphia to study agriculture (go beavers) and inherited the orchard when his grandfather passed.

 

Aspen does his best to preserve the orchard, trying to imitate the way that the place was run in previous generations, and his business has really grown. He goes into Ponyville every Saturday for the weekly market to sell his goods. People especially like his pears, which Aspen has bred a new type of called the Sunny Horizon pear. The Sunny Horizon is a soft, incredibly juicy pear, which has really put Aspen into the books as a master agriculturalist. He moved into his grandfather's old house, and tries not to renovate it too much, to keep the authenticity. The house is pretty big, as it's been in the family for generations, and takes a lot of energy to clean.

 

Aspen grows delicate fruit, like cherries, that need to be plucked, not shaken down. By climbing the trees to get the fruit, Aspen developed a skill for climbing trees and other things, such as rocks. He went on to practice rock climbing as a pastime, and still enjoys it, even going to a few tournaments for rock climbing held in Appleloosa. He made lots of friends when he moved to Ponyville, and has them over for lighthearted poker games weekly. Aspen usually loses, but they don't play for much, so he has a good time. Aspen had a marefriend at the Agricultural School he went to, but had to leave her when he moved. He hasn't been interested in mares since, mostly focusing on expanding his business. His parents don't visit often, which is okay with Aspen. He loves his parents, but is glad to be away from them most of the time. Aspen really loves foals, and will sometimes volunteer at nurseries and preschools. He really wants to have a foal of his own someday.

I just read through the thread again, and I realized that, given there's been no mention of Rarity yet, she has no suitable way to know where everyone is meeting up. I can either make up a reason or just have Rarity stay put and have the story catch up to her. Which would you rather I do?

Anyway, I wasn't sure we'd get Rarity so soon, so...

 

Perhaps Rarity was putting the finishing touches on a large order for a VIP client, and had to focus on completing it before meeting up with the others at Sugarcube Corner. Weak scenario idea is weak.

 

She can know about the news of the search for the humans if you want, or one of her friends can tell her!

Anyhow, I just want to let everyone know that starting Monday, and for the next month, I'll be going into work extra early, and will than likely be completely out of it, as I am most definitely not a morning person!

It seems that Cuddlefish pulled a disappearing act on us, so they're teacherless, but I might've thought of a solution...

I've originally planned on the humans to arrive in Canterlot, where I planned on having the portal as well. I was also planning to have them meet their teacher, Blindspot, but perhaps Wilhelm could be their teacher/guide?

 

He goes to investigate as you planned, gets caught, and is forced to guide them as a sort of punishment. He, along with the Equestrian Guard, escort them back to Ponyville, where the others can gawk at the newcomers!

Oh, I can only imagine. Actually, I'll type the post right now. (If you couldn't tell, I accept your idea!) However, came to Ponyville both to investigate and to interact with the other role players, so I suspect I'll attempt to sneak in along with Twilight, the rest of the Six, and Cadance, probably most of whom have reasons for being there, and then I'll end up with the guard at the entrance asking himself why in the name of Celestia on an bicycle is the Royal Astronomer doing at the site of the portal instead of where he belongs, way back at the Canterlot Observatory. Considering that they need someone to show him around, the guards decide that they'll bundle him with the annoying humans and save themselves the trouble.

Sorry for not being able to respond right away, most of my time is being eaten up by work!

 

You can still have Wilhelm interact with the others, if that's what you wanna do. I'm just letting you know on what I plan on doing once everyone is finally together...

 

I was also thinking the Mane6 and Cadance would remain behind in Ponyville, as I don't see them having a reason to go investigate the portal, unlike Wilhelm. In other words, they go on with their lives until the humans arrive.

 

I was also under the impression that Wilhelm will be able to sneak past the guards, as while he's a scientist, thaumatology is not his field of expertise, therefore, there's no reason for him to be directly involved -- so yes, you are right when you said they'd turn him away!

 

I was also thinking that because Wilhelm will sneak in and get caught, the Thaumotologists mete out punishment by forcing him to be the humans' guide and teacher, as it would serve multiple purposes: it would force Wilhelm out of his shell by direct interaction with the humans, and give, and by extension them, some invaluable insight to human life.

 

They will make him report back to them.

 

Thirdly, inserting the guards would provide a means to safely escort Wilhelm and the humans back to Ponyville, as assurance that the locals don't panic over seeing Colette and Alex, and vice versa. Once that's done, they'll be heading back to Canterlot.

 

If the need arises however, then I'll see if I can create a guard character...

Other distinctive features (if any): Always carries a F.A.K (first aid kit) and morphine. Personality wise, Swiggie is one to take any opportunity to make a joke, even bad puns. He is physically caring and WILL help those injured, with late night shifts Swiggie is always sleepy but quick to regain composure when needed. Swiggie is quick to love all those he meets and is quick to become acquainted with anyone.

Backstory (A little more about your character): 

Swiggie was born raised and schooled overseas. After finishing school, Swiggie moved to Equestria and became a citizen and pursued further education in the medical field. Graduating from Uni, Swiggie used his qualifications to become a nurse and paramedic at various hospitals and cities.

 

Swiggie worked at many hospitals all over Equestria but recently settled in Canterlot.
He first started his career as a paramedic but eventually became a nurse at Canterlot Hospital.
Swiggie is the assistant nurse during operations and a general caretaker and ER nurse during normal days.

Well, it looks like Nurse Swiggie will more than likely be hit on by other stallions, as well as get the chance to be amongst the first to see the Humans, provided he's not on duty at the time...

 

Most everypony else is in Ponyville, which is where the humans will head once they arrive...

Sorry, I can't take either character as they are now.

 

For starters, I don't mind if you submit more than one character, but submitting one application for both is confusing. Add to that, it's incomplete.

 

I took a look at both links to your characters' backstories to help discern the two, and neither would make a good fit for the RP, as it sounds like both of them are from Earth, and this RP takes place in Equestria.

I'm sorry, I didn't realize it would be so confusing. I've edited the apps. By incomplete, did you mean the height and weight? I just have no reference point for ponies, especially on the weight, and I didn't see how that was very important.

 

As for their backstories, The reason they are like that is because they are meant to be human characters. But when I tried to translate them into pony versions I had trouble, so I just left them the way they originally were. Just... pretend they are pony stories. I provided necessary information for pony RPs.

 

[EDIT] I apologize, I at least thought I edited my first post, twice actually. Derned thing doesn't seem to want to remember. Give me a minute or two, or three.

I saw you've edited their height and weight, but their backstories are way too human for the type of ponies I'm looking for in my RP. They should know about Equestria, and nothing about earth or its inhabitants until the humans arrive.

 

There's also the fact that River Serene is WAY too overpowered, if she has the potential to split the planet...
