What about Twilight in Lesson Zero, or Rarity in Sonic Rainboom, or Pinkie Pie in Party Of One, Or Fluttershy in The Best Night Ever, or Rainbow Dash in Dragonshy? In all those episodes the mane 6 acted against their element, but the difference is that AJ had a reason that was kinda valid. It's not like the mane 6 are supposed to be perfect in all the circumstances.

You only bolded half of my sentence. I was talking about Applejack specifically in this case. I also listed The Best Night Ever as my least favorite episode because of that bit with Fluttershy.

That said, I do have issues with any of them going against their element. They aren't supposed to be perfect in all circumstances, no, but they are supposed to be perfect in that particular area- perfect enough that they are said to represent that element. Meaning that even if they aren't perfect in that area, they are supposed to be better in that area than anypony else. The problem is that the writers are trying to play it down, and show that they have their own flaws, and aren't any better than anypony else. I agree with that idea. They should have flaws. But it becomes an issue when suddenly, they're not better than anypony else in those particular areas, either. If they aren't noticably better in those areas, even to the point of perfection, then how is it that they're said to represent those elements?

I actually think we aren't hard enough on "Trade Ya!". So much of it felt forced for the sake of comedy, and especially Twilight's subplot, whose message was forced and delivered through questionable means with the sole purpose of building up the emotional weight of Twilight's castle being destroyed.

As terrible as "Dragon Quest" is, I always commend it for actually doing something different with Spike's character, which seems to be too much to ask of an episode these days, especially during Season 4.

I enjoyed Pinkie Pride but it probably wouldn't crack my top 10, probably because I've never listened to weird al until recently. Flight to the Finish I also struggle to really enjoy for some reason.

As far as loving it, coming from an analyst perspective, I have to say Apple Family Reunion. A lot of people from the analysis community really don't like this episode, and I quite don't understand it. Applejack was in character, likeable, and justified in trying to make the reunion grander than before. When she saw things were going awry, she tried to fix it. It's obvious she had great intentions, and it's quite a memorable, if not tame, episode.

From the opposite end, I must go with Bats! There are WAY too many flaws. The first is the obvious: Fluttershy's nonsensical perspective in keeping the vampire fruit bats was treated as the correct solution, while Applejack's urgency to remove them (albeit extreme) was completely justified. Even worse is how it's handled; Twilight was just as in fault as the rest of her friends, but the narrative didn't put her at any responsibility. The gag at the end opens up way too many implications with both the bat spell as well as Fluttershy's soul. The more you think about it, the more disturbing it becomes.

Hmm, well, I actually really liked Look Before You Sleep.

Episodes others liked that I didn't see the appeal? God, that's a tough one. I honestly don't have one. :P

I like all the episodes to an extent. I mean, I'm not some mindless fan that ignores glaring flaws, but no episode has really pissed me off.

I haven't been on the forums long enough to know which episodes are popular and which aren't, but I listed a few of my favorites and least favorites that I haven't heard a lot of positive or negative vibes about.

Not-so-popular favorites:

1. Hearts and Hooves Day

- This episode was so stinking cute. It probably was popular when it first aired, but has been forgotten by now.

2. Somepony to Watch Over Me

- I'm surprised this episode gets so much hate. Growing up in the south, I know it's engrained in us especially to be protective of our younger siblings, so I think Applejack was completely in character. Plus, we have seen several times that she thinks herself the strongest pony in the group, and that she needs to take all the responsibility.

3. Filli Vanilli

- I don't know the feelings about this episode, but I had to post it for the best song in the series.

I know a lot of people don't like Equestria Girls, but Rainbow Rocks has really changed my mind about them.

Popular not-so-favorites:

1. It's Not Easy Being Breezies

- It wasn't easy watching this awful episode. Four words: German accent, pink afro.

2. Twilight Time

- I don't necessarily have a good explanation for why I didn't like this, I just didn't. Something about the whole episode just seemed like a filler until the finale.

3. Cutie Map (1&2, but I guess no opener can beat the Return of Harmony!)

- I didn't really like the plot idea or its execution in general.

Generally, I don't like Pinkie Pie episodes (Too Many Pinkie Pies, Baby Cakes, etc.), and I know for sure that those are popular.

For me it was "Magical Mystery Cure." I didn't hate the episode, but I felt that the episode should have been split into two parts. The songs felt too packed together in my opinion, unlike in "Pinkie Pride" where the songs felt evenly spaced out. I felt that Twilight getting the book and casting the spell without realizing it would have been a better introduction to the beginning of the episode. That way when trying to find the cause of the problem we could get a flashback as to what was the main cause of what made her friends the way they were. I also felt that when Twilight disappeared we could have gotten some flashback moments with the rest of the mane 6 and Spike. This would help show them what they thought of Twilight and tell the others how they were able to change since meeting Twilight back in the beginning of the series. I still like the episode, but if the episode was done a little differently I feel as though it might have been a much better ending to the season.
