I haven't really kept up to date with Eurovision lately, the music they choose doesn't really appeal to me. Although, I'll never forget 2006 and Lordi's entry. That was amazing, I'm glad they won

I remember I was like 6 years old and they scared me so much but I liked their music so I'm glad they won. Now looking back it's so funny that they won

I voted for Australia, Sweden, Norway and Lithuania while watching Austria's attempt of Riverdance. What did you guys vote if you did?

It seems like a lot of people are upset that he won cause they say it's a copy of David Guetta's Lovers on the Sun, but come on that's stupid. Yes, it they both have "western" instruments. Yes, the intro is similar. But the rest of the song is completely different, it's not even the same genre. I think it's ridiculous that people blame him for plagiarism when the song is not even close to being the same. Really, most songs you'll hear today are inspired by other songs. You're not going all butthurt on Madonna's Hung Up because she uses the background music from ABBA's "Gimme", neither are people doing so for other popular songs as much as when someone gets inspired by something else and wins a competition.

 

Anyway, I think it's sad that people are hating on Russia because they're anti-gay, I mean really this is a music competition and politics shouldn't be involved. I did a several facepalms when everyone was shouting "sweden, sweden!" when we passed Russia with points.

 

Although I am happy that my country won, I didn't have him as my favorite. My favorites were the following:

2 points - Italy

3 points - Georgia

4 points - Russia

5 points - Cyprus

6 points - Austria

7 points - UK

8 points - Norway

10 points - Estonia

Yes, Australia was in fact a part of the Eurovision Song Contest this year because it's a really big thing there to watch it for some reason, even though they are on the other side of the earth. So to celebrate Eurovision's 60th anniversary Australia was asked if they wanted to compete! Their song was fantastic and clearly the best imo.

I don't know why the UK's song was so unpopular - I think it was really clever to fuse those music genres, and it was about 20% more catchy than quite a few of the other songs. I mean, there was a weird bit at one part but the rest of it was really good.

I say it was unpopular because of comments like one from an Austrian commentator saying it was "like a three minute long cry for help" XD

 

But I'm glad Sweden won, the animation was genius and the song had a really cool feel to it
