movies/tv Inside Out (Pixar)

Wind Chaser

Recommended Posts

I've seen it. It's a very, very good Pixar movie, on par with the old ones such as Toy Story (3) and Finding Nemo. It's funny, original, and heartbreaking in two particular scenes near the end. Disney/Pixar certainly knows how to tug on my heartstrings properly.

Anyone who hasn't seen it yet, I really do encourage you to give it a whirl.

I'm very disconnected from today's entertainment scene, so I never knew about this movie until I checked on Tim Brayton's site and read his great review. But it wasn't the critical reception that made me check this out, it was the concept. One person's distinct emotions being depicted as characters, living in the complex world of her mind? And in a "family-friendly" summer movie? Now that's ambitious. I wanted to see if Pixar could pull it off, so I walked into a theater today for the first time in years to find out.

I was blown away. Inside Out is an incredible film that has not only returned Pixar to creative prominence, but has the potential to change how people think about their own feelings and those of others. It absolutely should not be missed.

I will be looking into that merchandise as well.  ^_^

This is the theory I've been waiting to see on Inside Out: tumblr_nqrm4ujQ3Z1tgkt79o1_1280.png

I was trying to formulate a similar theory on combined emotions based on

the resolution to Joy & Sadness' conflict

, however I could not get it to be as thorough. The only one I feel is truly missing, however, is jealousy/envy. I think self-loathing can play into that, if motivated by anger as well.

There are also articles saying that more emotions should have been portrayed in the film. If you were to add any to the film, which would they be? My choices would be Curiosity, Boredom, and Envy.

Pixar movies just give objects feelings.

Toy Story = Toys with feelings

Ratatoullie = Rats with feelings

Cars = Cars with feelings

A Bug's Life = Bugs with feelings

Inside Out = Feelings with feelings

In all seriousness, Inside Out was an awesome movie like I thought it would be. It had great jokes, great characters, but also some sadness towards the end and I loved it.

I just thought of the sad question what would happen to the emotions if the person dies? :o

I'm rather surprised Disney didn't think of jealousy/envy or boredom. I guess Anger can play into jealousy but it would be cool to see a jealous emotion on their own and a boredom one. Curiosity would be cool to see.

I also think Disney could have added annoyance as a another emotion character. Anger can add to annoyance as well as disgust but I think it would be cool to see annoyance.

I read somewhere there were basically 27 emotions, but it would have been too complicated so they retained only 5 of them.

And maybe Joy + Anger + Disgust = Envy

I don't see how Joy adds to envy. You usually don't feel happy if you're jealous of someone. Only if you're like "I'm happy for you even though I'm jealous!" though I guess.

I was using the chart that says Joy + Disgust = Intrigue

So Intrigue + Anger = Envy...

Ah, that makes more sense. :D

I agree that could equal envy maybe.

I would rather have put Sadness rather than Joy, as in sadness that others have things you don't, disgust towards a perceived disadvantage, and the anger to act on it.

Animation was superb, the finest I've seen in all Pixar's history to be honest :pinkie: The story was engaging and quite appealing to both an older and younger generation :) All the emotions were portrayed quite humorously and I really enjoyed their scenes as a group ^_^ While I personally didn't shed a tear during the more sad moments I did get hit in all the feels. THE FEELS WERE STRONG WITH THIS ONE! :( :( :(

It would be really interesting to see how both the emotions and Riley develop as the years pass, I can only imagine how they would all react to puberty ^_^ But overall this was just a great movie that was really worth the popcorn money :D Great job Pixar!

Also I'll remember this movie fondly because I went to see it as a school special event with all my classmates and other grades, and it finally gave me something to talk about with some of them :) Their reactions after the movie were priceless :P

Saw IO last weekend.  As expected of Pixar, this movie did not disappoint.  All the characters were awesome and colorful, and I appreciated the dramatic storyline.  I can't wait to buy this once it's out on blu-ray.

I'm seeing this movie soon, and I can't wait! I've seen many reviews, and it seems amazing, so I really cannot wait to watch it. But it seems like Disgust will really annoy me. She seems just like the kind of person I wold now get along with very well at all. Except in the one ad where she says "ew olives... No thank you,". I can relate to that.

I absolutely loved it, although it did reuse a few cliches. Basically, Joy is a well-intended, if selfish leader who basically loves everyone but sadness. The same way Woody and Buzz worked in Toy Story.

And then there were these little memory orbs, that reminded me of the eggs in Wreck It Ralph and Finding Nemo.

And here are a few questions, what happens to someone's emotions when they die? And also, if Dad's Mind's control centre is a war room, then what is Mom's mind supposed to be, a talk show, a newsroom? Also, I have a theory, although their names are slightly different.

I believe Riley's mom is married to Bonnie's divorced husbands brother, hence their surname, and why she looks like Bonnie's mom. And Bonnie's mom must be Riley's aunt. Just because the surname is ''Andersen'', not ''Anderson'', doesn't mean they aren't related. Because if it's a related name, chances are you are related. Also, are the Emotions really pilots or guides, or both? And also, how come that bus driver only has anger? Also, do Riley's parents go on holiday to Minnesota from time to time?

Final two questions, is there going to be a sequel? What was with that boy? Was he anxious and shy because he didn't know what to say to Riley. And do the Cars in the film Cars have the same humanoid emotions?

I LOVED that movie! To me, it was a perfect lesson is teaching adults and children that it's okay to be sad. Sometimes, we have to be sad in order to feel better and be happy in the end. And what a great way to show it in a way kids could understand! I cried several times though. I grew so attatched to all the emotions that it was throwing all of mine out of wack. <3

To me, it's the best Pixar movie to date (yes, even better than Up). Everything about it was amazing and it was so clever with how they portrayed the inside of a young tween's mind. Bing Bong's death made me cry so much  :(

Out of all the Pixar films that I have seen, personally its my most favorite beside Finding Nemo because of how different it is and emotional it is plus the colors make it really attractive to the eye. I don't think I'd like a sequel to Inside Out because I just feel like it would be ruined

I finally got around to watching this movie, but I didn't like it at all -_-. I thought the movie was too annoying and I didn't feel any emotion (except annoyance :P) while watching it.

I guess something is wrong with me? I dunno; the movie had a good idea, but the characters just didn't "click" with me.
