I'm just wondering if there are any construction workers on here just for the heck of it. :)

As for me, I am currently working with my dad in the Drywall Finishing and Plaster Trade (basically, a Drywaller). My dad needs my help this summer and I still get good pay from it (only on the days he needs me though).

I've had 7+ months of Drywall working experience so far.

Now I'd like to know which trades do the rest of you work for? I'll have a poll up, but I'd also like to see your posts explaining what and why you are working in that particular trade.

Post away!

I work on our small family ranch. We raise cows and chickens and grow hay. It's a bit of a "jack of all trades, master of none" type job. I've had to do most of those poll options at one time or another.

If you needed it, I have updated the poll for multiple choice options instead of restricting it to one option only. ;)

I work for a concrete flooring/finishing/coatings company. Most of my time working there is spent griding the corners of halls and parking lots while somebody else uses the "Rhino," "Terrco" or "Shotblaster" to clean the concrete until it's smooth and ready for priming and coating to be done by another somebody else.

Working at Ikea this week sucked because it's super hot in Vancouver right now. But at least we get those nice $1 bottomless refill cups at the cafeteria inside.

I work as a Commercial Diver in underwater construction, salvage, potable water cleaning, and ships husbandry. It's an interesting job to say the least. :P

"I could have been happy above if I'd never donned the copper carapace and dipped my head beneath the waves to hear the muddled man-made sounds. Distorted and dreamlike droning. The whir and thrashing of a distant propeller, the tumultuous thundering thud of fogbound freighters. Mud underfoot, no sights, except the grasp of a diver's trained hand, dreaming of distant lands knowing all the while this is what I love, not the blue skies and wondering faces above. Canvas, rubber, brass, copper, and glass. Leather and lead, mud and sweat, heaving around in dark, damp depths seldom seen by most yet talked about by all. As if a sunny, happy place where mermaids and seahorses play and chests of gold are lain bare, untarnished by salt and time for all to grasp who are bold enough to go below..." -"Deep Sea Diver", Steven L. Ships husbandry.

I for years have been under the naive impression that ships were constructed by wrights in drydocks, not bred.

Such backwards thinking! But now you know the truth! When a male and a female ship fall in love...*rambleramble*
