gaming Pokemon Gen 7- Astra & Lalune?

Frankly, I've been dying for more celestial, star based or type pokemon for a long time now. Starmie and Staryu started it, with their Pokedex entries on how they are rumored to have come from outer space, and have we some kind of connection with the stars, and a core that seems to communicate. Same with Deoxys, Solrock, Lunatone, and Clefairy.

The space frontier of Pokemon isn't really explored, though we were able to ride Rayquaza into space, in ORAS, to battle with Deoxys. It's been theorized, even in Pokedex entries, that some pokemon do have origins in outerspace. So why not have a game where we discover some parallel spatial dimension exists and where such Pokemon, like Deoxys, Clefairy, Staryu, Starmie, Lunatone, and a whole undiscovered "Astra" type of Pokemon exist? Oh man, I would flip over a whole new typeing of Astra pokemon exist, and a whole region to be explored in the endless cosmos.

What do you guys think?

This might be "a bit too much" for Pokémon, but I really dig the idea.

That would be great for a mini-quest, involving some Pokémons, but not a whole game.

I'd rather not muck up Pokémon anymore than it already is

First we had Mew

Then along came Groudon and Kyogre, making the sea and continents

Which were apparently towed around by teams of Regigigas

And then we have Lugia as the Guardian of the Sea, Manaphy as Prince of the Sea and Kyogre as Lord of the Sea

And then along came Arceus and its six children

GAAAAAAAAAH!

which part of the idea was a bit too much, if you don't mind my inquiring? Personally, I don't see what was wrong about the idea as a whole, but I'm always for varying opinions.

We just got Fairy typing, and though I highly support its inclusion, I don't believe there's any need for another brand new type. I also feel like adding that sort of type wouldn't do so well. I can't begin to imagine how Astral('astra' sounds kinda silly) type would match up against other types, and I don't feel like it'd be a suitable categorisation for Pokemon. That's why we have Egg Types.

The idea of parallel spatial dimension and exploring the cosmos.

That's not what we usually see in Pokémon, the other games are more "realistic".

But at the same time I like these ideas and I'd totally buy that. It's just that it would be...different.

but wasn't exploring an AU done in diamond and pearl, in the distortion world or whatever, that Dialga (or was it Giratina?) created? (And travelling through space to catch Mew was done in Pokemn Snap), and, again in ORAS, riding through space on Rayquaza. So it's not like the possibility of the player going to space or venturing through an AU distortion world -even encountering Pokemon there- hasn't been done before

It was just on too small a scale, and limited to a single Pokemon encounter, rather than an entire region (though as for the distortion world, I'm sure it far surpasses a region, in size, so it's still possible)

Oops, because I haven't played Platinum I forgot about it, but yeah you're right. :)

With that in mind, I fully support your idea now.

It was only in Platinum, and it was Giratina, but still, you have a point.

I'm not sure I'd want an entire region, but maybe a fairly large quest, maybe after defeating the Elite Four, something like another Delta Episode but it all takes place in an AU similar to the distortion world and there are Pokemon you can't get in the main region there. (And you'd be able to visit anytime you want after) I think that would be cool.

I think you mean "Astral" type.

GEN 7 BABY

It's been 3 years since Gen 6, the same amount of time in between Gens 5 and 6. Or we're getting X&Y 2. Either or! Also, is it just me, or do the Sun&Moon symbols look a lot like the symbols for FEF Conquest and Birthright? Probably just me.

I think Pokemon Day and Night sounds cooler though, mostly because we're now going to have to abbreviate it Pokemon S/M and I dunno how to feel about that.

man, does time fly! I'm ready for some new Pokès. My wallet isn't, because pony binge. I'll just be late to the party if gen 7 comes out at any time next month.

Awkward abbreviation is awkward....I think Astra and Lalune sound much more elegant than boring ol sun and moon

Hmmm Pokemon Celestia and Luna?

Sorry, had to make the joke.

I like the idea of that. Granted, it's a supposed leak so I don't know if it's legit yet, but if it is, I'm not complaining. I can imagine the whole game having some day and night lore similar to Celestia and Luna's backstory. Like, maybe one version takes place in day and one at night. Or one half of the region likes the day, and the other the night. And of course, the version legendaries would probably center around this theme.

Also, would the version be Pokemon Dawn then?

I have only just considered that... I sense many a joke about it. :sunbutt:

Still, I'm quite looking forward to what tomorrow's Pokemon Direct has in store for us. The only downside is I just started playing Super Mystery Dungeon a few days ago and this announcement may very well have me trying to rush the game to completion in time for whenever we see these released (Probably late autumn/early winter).

All I know is the two poor mascots won't have much of a chance at keeping their original names.  :comeatus:
