I too see no practical use of re-dubbing older episodes. Like other users have said, it would be a waste of time and money, and I think it makes perfect sense that the Crusaders would grow over the course of time.

If anything, they haven't grown enough in (what I assume is) 3 or so years.

Oh just zip it OK? They should redub the older episodes from seasons 1 to 3, I mean, it's a brilliant, but even better idea for syndications or re-airings!

No, I will not.

And how is it supposed to be a brilliant idea for re-airings? This show has already been working in more and more continuity and changes to the status quo that almost every season gets a new, updated intro. People will not be put off and stop watching a show by the CMC's voices of all things. It's not like Hasbro wastes its money making the animators go back and fix animation errors, so they shouldn't waste money to have the VAs re-record lines that originally sounded (rightfully) younger.

It's not like if they have a child actor grow up on a sitcom they go back and reshoot episodes or re-record lines for syndication.

Technically, for some of you were paying attention to the new CMC episode, their voices sounded differently now...But still it would be nice if they redub the past episodes from seasons 1, 2, and 3 for reairings or syndications. Hell, like they did it with Sailor Moon, but it was Viz Media anyhow.

I mean, I really want to hear the redubbed dialogue so bad IF they gonna do it or not.

I seriously doubt if they are going to waste all the time and money just to have the same people redo the same dialog, because they grew older, like their characters.

Why even use that as an example? The lines for Viz's dub of Sailor Moon would've had to be redone regardless, not because they ended up having to get different voice actors, but because Viz was listening to fan response by giving them an uncensored version of the script, meaning it was the content of the lines and not just the sound of the voices that they needed to take into account, plus Saban was probably the ones who still had rights over the lines they recorded when they covered Sailor Moon. Also while speaking about Sailor Moon, they had two different voice actors for the main character Serena when Saban was dubbing the show. They didn't go back to redub those episodes when they switched to a second voice actor.

The CMC were young kids at the start of the show, and they've grown a lot. If anything, their maturing voices help reinforce that image. I don't think redubbing them would do their characters a service.

Don't get me wrong, but FUNimation did actually redub DBZ Kai to update the DBZ fanbase, I mean why NOT just redub them to update the fanbase instead?

The CMC's voices have changed? Maybe I'm not listening hard enough, but I haven't noticed the difference, except that Sweetiebelle doesn't seem to squeak as much. I don't see any reason why the past episodes would need to be redubbed even if the change in voice tone was that noticeable though. It's not like the characters themselves haven't matured over the course of the series too.

Well maybe they should do it anyhow.

Do you know how much it would cost to redub it? DHX or Hasbro would get nothing out of it, just a big minus in their pockets.

Look at the redub of Dragon Ball Z Kai, it didn't give actors waste and time updating their dialogues and plus, they DID cut all out the filler in favor for more action too!

What kind of example is this? You didn't even try to counter my argument.

This costs way too much money and dosen't make sense.

I don't think there's a huge demand for the CMC to be dubbed-over in earlier seasons.  And, even if there was a significant demand (would have to be exclusively among Bronies), I doubt they'd bother.

Possibly, but why do it? The CMC's story has always been about them growing up and finding out who they are. Since their voice actors grew up with them the subtle changes in their voices add an extra dimension to their growth. Redubbing the voices would lose that little detail.

As an aside, DBZ Kai was made years after the original DBZ ended so redubbing was to be expected. Redubbing existing episodes for no reason at all is a waste of time and money for most companies, and I don't think Hasbro is any different.

That has nothing to do with the voice actors aging and more to do with it being a new cut and them redoing lines to be closer to the source material.

The DBZ redub was because of copyrights on the original dub. As KatonRyu mentioned, the original dub is YEARS old. The original actors may not have been available, even if there was no copyright issue. It wasn't someone just deciding "Hey, it would be fun to spend a fortune to redub the dialog for no reason."

Let's face it, they did it with Frosty The Snowman in the 70s, why NOT do the same with the CMC? Hell, I wish the pre-cutie mark episodes from seasons 1 to 3 were re-dubbed...it's called updating the dialogues!

If they have no interest in updating simple animation errors and potentially contradictory dialog, it makes little sense for them to undertake an even greater project with a more dramatic opportunity cost.

I also suspect that there would be a reason why updating VA work in a Japanese IP would involve less headache than a US or Canadian IP. Unions and legal junk and all that differ depending on the country of origin.

The voice actors are growing older at a comparable rate to their characters. Frankly, I think the idea of redubbing the CMC just to keep them sounding the same when their characters are obviously maturing doesn't make sense. The redub for Frosty the Snowman has little to do with this discussion. June Foray originally voiced Karin. Her dialog was redubbed after the first airing. All subsequent airings feature an uncredited and unknown replacement voice actress. Oddly, they left the songs alone. June can be heard there. As far as I could research it, nobody knows why this change was made or who the replacement was.

One last thing. Replacing and redubbing the CMC dialog would be a slap in the face to the original actresses. Who among us would be willing to line them up and knock them down like this? Wouldn't it be better just to leave it as it stands now, with the CMC actually maturing...Like the show is depicting anyway?

Eh, not really - I mean, the voices changed gradually over time for most of the cast. Look, for example, at Applejack in the first season. She sounds a lot more high-pitched at first than later.

It's not like they changed voice actresses. They just got older because the CMC are voiced by young girls. So going back and redubbing the old episodes would be pointless.

I don't see a reason for them to redo the voices .

I see no upside to this at all, on the contrary, the loss of Squeaky Belle would be a travesty of the highest order.

YEAH, WE SHOULD KEEP SQUEAKY BELLE RECORDED FOR HISTORY BOOKS

Actually, there wouldn't be any replacing, as the idea is for the same VAs to redub the CMCs episodes :icwudt: . still, it's ratter pointless, with the aforementioned (several times  ) reasons, plus they gradually maturing goes hand to hand with their actresses maturing too

Dunno the story behind that show, as I don't even know it, but if they decided to redub older episodes, that was their problem and they had their reasons for it

@MAIKUN

Stop forcing your opinion on everyone and telling them that they are wrong. You asked this as a  community question, so you should be reading the responses of the fellow bronies and pegasisters.

Not being. You're totally wrong, and then forcing your point down peoples throats.

I have plenty of evidence in this topic to show you doing this.

No way. That would be pointless indeed. Waste of time, waste of money. The fillies are getting older and so are the voice actors. Not too weird, huh!
