Opinions on FiM's Intro?

I've recently been curious to what the fandom thought of the show's intro. I personally think it's a decent intro. Lyrics aren't the best, but I mean the main reason I like it is more so for the instrumentals and ForOrchestra's remix of it. So I mean I suppose I'm not a huge fan, but overall I don't think it's a horrible intro.

Anyways, what do you all think of it?

I think most of us have heard it so many times now that we havn't really taken much notice of it, but when I first started watching the show about a year and a half ago, I would always cringe but after a while you get used to it, but this only occurred during my first few episodes.

My main complaint is that it doesn't introduce the show from the beginning. There's the episode teaser, then the theme. So if you're watching it live, you have to wait for the episode to properly begin. Otherwise, if you're on Dailymotion or Netflix, you have to skip it to get to the next part of the episode.

Apart from that, the theme is incredible. It starts with the familiar My Little Pony melody but then it goes to a more modern feel. The rock motif really lets you know it's not like the past generations.

I agree, it might just be that I got used to it. I also did find it cringey when I first got into the show though, haha.

I don't mind the episode teaser really, since normally it's just a silly gag they typically throw in, but it does sometimes start off the plot of the episode.

It was hard for me to get used to the "My little pony..." at the very begining, because I was always repelled by it in the past before I became a brony. I sort of had to condition myself to like it...and now...I absolutely love it. It always brings a smile to my face.

Well see then there's me....I'll start watching an episode and then.....the teaser...then the theme...GET ON WITH IT ALREADY.....and that's basically it.

That's fine, I can see where you're coming from. I think shows like Gravity Falls helped me get used to them and like them, since they typically help start off the plot. But again, I know how you feel :P.

I don't mind it. Sure, it may be a little too sugarcoated, but it's just takes 30 seconds. It's not like the intro has an impact on the show. The intro also doesn't seem as "girly" as what everybody makes it out to be. I mean, the other MLP generations have intros that are much "girly" than this one.

Agreed.

When I first saw it and heard the lyrics, "My Little Pony, My Little Pony," I thought the show was going to be as girly as that commercial for G3 toys I saw once on Nickelodeon. But to my pleasant surprise, that upbeat riff playing throughout the theme actually told me, it will have exciting moments and won't be chessy like I'd expect.

When it comes to music, my taste comes from a melodic ear mostly. Aside from the corny lyrics, I actually like the opening's chord choice. It's very recognizable and catchy. It sounds great in different music styles as well.

I don't think I heard chord progression like it unless I was to mention the Sugar Rush theme from Wreck-it-Ralph.

Not pointing fingers or anything (it seems like they might've been inspired by MLP perhaps) but if you sing the MLP theme to say the main melody, you're sure recognize what I'm saying. It's the only other case I could think of though, so the MLP opening gets a plus for originality.

Terrible. I absolutely HATE the intro song, it sounds terrible, and honestly is just hard on the ears. Additionally, the intro animation is pretty bland and not entertaining.
In comparison, the other songs of FIM and EQG are very enjoyable, and i will often listen to them while at my computer.

That being said, I understand that hasbro would NEVER part with the classic "my little pony" jingle sound no matter HOW horrible it is: its got an incredible recognition factor that IMMEDIATELY causes whoever hears it to know exactly what series it is, even without the words and just by the instrumental tune. That's hard to buy.
