Should Shining Armor still call his sister Twiley?

I say he should because yes, Twilight is a princess now, but she's STILL his little sister, as well as his best friend. He still calls her Twiley in his and her Friends Forever comic which follows show canon.

Why not? Yeah, Twilight's a Princess now. He should probably call her by her title in public, to keep up appearances and all that, but in private, I see no reason not to use the old nickname. Princess or not, she's still the same pony she was before, and she's still his little sister.

 

 Same thing with her friends, or anypony else she's close to. Maybe act more "Professional" in public, but in private, there's really no good reason to not just act casual, like they usually would. Heck, even in public it doesn't seem to be that big a deal in Equestria.

Twilight's never been comfortable being referred to by her title amongst her close friends and family, so I think she would prefer if they just don't. Outside of keeping up any kind of public appearance, I see no reason why Shining wouldn't still call her "Twiley", especially if he it's in that sibling/close friend kind of mocking way. Like "You may be a princess now, but you'll always be 'Twiley' to me."

I don't see why not. Even in adulthood, some siblings still use nicknames for one another! I think it's sweet, and Twilight doesn't seem to mind.

The closest analogy I have to this is in my personal like was when I was at a black tie business function where I was being honored and my sister was in attendance. She routinely called me Joey during the function. (note that she is one of the only people in the world I allow to do that). So yes, I have no issues with Shining Armor calling her little sister by a nickname.

Of course he should, he's her big brother. Given the fluctuating amount of respect Twilight gets as a princess he could probably get away with calling her that at official occasions.

I don't see any issue with it.  A family member giving a nickname is something that should be able to last forever.  Plus, I think it's cute.
