spoiler What if Diamond Tiara is exactly what the CMC needed?

After the CMC helped contribute to DT's reformation, The crusaders got layered cutie marks, indicating not only their own individual talents, but their talent as a whole to help other ponies with cutie mark problems as shown by their crusading shields. I've been pondering why they chose this design for the CMC, and why they seemed to make special mention to the fact that Diamond Tiara's special talent was getting ponies to do what she wanted, and a thought came to my noggin. 

 

What if Diamond Tiara was meant to be the true Leader of the CMC? Think about it, she has been raised with a near pathological focus on cutie Marks and she is fascinated with them (albeit in really counter productive ways for the majority of the series). One of the Crusaders biggest issues has been their lack of direction, they don't have a leader among them per say, and so they move together like a unit. 

 

We've seen her be able to lead them in Ponyville Confidential, though that didn't end well since it was her pre reform days, but look at all she managed to accomplish in that episode. I could completely see her taking the reigns of the group and learning valuable leadership skills through their quests of helping other ponies figure out what their cutie mark are/mean.

 

Not to mention their cutie marks work aesthetically in this fashion as well, as her Tiara is reminiscent of royalty and leadership while the Crusaders shields are like the knights that protect and serve royalty. 

 

Such a character shift for DT wouldn't happen overnight, but It would be an interesting paradigm shift for their relationship with one another.

Plus, she's pretty much the reason the CMC got together in the first place. Her bullying helped them bond, didn't it?

Maybe, it is an interesting idea but while I know they are going to be friends, I don't really think she will be their leader. I think what will happen instead is she will be their friend as they work together to help DT figure herself out more and develop herself into the pony she wants to be!

I dunno if Diamond Tiara will be their leader, but we have seen for a second time that she has leadership skills

Diamond Tiara seemed to be important for motivation, but I think one of the most important things about cutie marks is that all that ponies need to discover their special talents is themselves, and they would've eventually found it, DT or no.

 

Now that I think about it though, that's kind of not possible, considering how RD's first Sonic Rainboom was directly responsible for all the Mane 6's cutie marks.   I wonder if there's a way that they could've gotten the same cutie marks without the Rainboom....
