music Songs that you can relate to?

So, it's not that I don't relate to songs, but there are few where I go "wow, that is EXACTLY how I feel". My favorite one is called Growing Up by Andrew Jackson Jihad. Do you have any songs you relate to on this level?

I'm afraid to say that you've barely touched the most infinite tip of the proverbial berg.

By that I mean that music has a side largely unexplored and as known about as some species of animals. Lemme explain;

A few years back I was at a concert festival in a neighboring city. There was an emergency fr one of the artists and they had to change up the schedule a bit making the band before the headliner the new headliner. An artist previous to that was on stage when music once again intervened in my life. The singer was playing one of his originals and in the middle he burst into the opening notes of enter sandman. Everyone in the crowd lost it, toddlers all the way to seniors, in recognition of a song. At that moment I felt a wave pass over me, coming from everyone else in the crowd. This isn't the first instance of such an event. There was a song from a movie that also struck me hard enough to help me fight a current as a kid.

What I'm trying to say is that music is more than just notes and emotions. Relating to a song is only the bare minimum of the relationship. The subject itself is so vast and amazing. The best part is in the middle of either a concert or playing rb/gh, or even listening to the radeo (cd/youtube/mp3/myspace/etc) and you get that near zen meditative feeling of energy flowing through you during a song or that adren pumping riff while trying to get a good charge during a gaming session or fight, pure undescribable awesomeness.

Anywho I've ran in to several songs that are somewhat descriptive of my life; I was wrong by social distortion, perfect by simple plan, Monster by skillet, animal I have become by three days grace, a few love songs, pretty much most of the songs I bond (still looking for a term for connecting energy wise with a song) have some bit of truth or connection to my life.

Hello ,

Since this is a topic about the discussion of music, I have moved it to a section meant for that sort of stuff -- Media Discussion.

I totally get what you are saying, but don't think that I didn't understand this before posting. I am a musician. I write songs. I perform. I collaborate with other musicians. I get how complex music is, and I get that there is "more than just notes and emotions". Music is the most important thing in my life. It is what keeps me going. Don't think I don't get it. With this topic, however, I was just referring to relating to lyrics. I understand there is more than that, but there is nothing wrong with just focusing on one aspect of this beautiful art.

Sorry for my rant, but you'r post came across to me as you claiming I don't understand the most important thing in my life. I value your comments, and they are relevant ones.

I apologize for that but I kinda have that problem with my words, but you can't really blame me, you've probably started on that same topic with people and got the same empty confused stares I get all the time. Had I known I might have approached the "energy" subject with a bit more of an inquiring approach.

Anywho the closest I get to being a musician is gh/rb. I play bass on those games. I do own an accoustic guitar but the neck glue came apart and it's held together by it's strings. I dream of having a electric bass.

I have to confess I've been having a rough year and a7x's seize the day, almost easy, and so far away have been "did I just hear a song written about me" spot on emotionally.

That's cool. Amazing what music can do for people. I don't think we will ever FULLY understand why we react the way we do to music. You don't need to play music to understand it and enjoy it. Guitar hero is good enough. You should totally get a cheap bass sometime and try it out! Even if you don't really learn how to play much, it is still a good experience. Also, more people should learn bass. It's a great instrument. Also, I don't blame you at all. I never get upset AT people for what they say, because I respect anyone who is willing to open their mouth and share their thoughts. I just get really passionate about music. My bad for reacting the way I did.

You're telling me, though I believe it's an energy transfer of some kind.  For now the guitar controllers will have to suffice but I can scarcely wait until I have my hands on the real thing, in fact between the near unexplainable happenings and the controllers that's what inspired me to want to learn to play.

Don't sweat it dude, it's totally understandable, I myself try my best to save the proverbial venom and offensiveness as a last resort.  Seems as were are of the same mind.
