Are the flim flam brothers members of the apple family?

I notice that the flim flam brothers have an apple-like cutie mark

and as we know all of the apple clan have an apple motif in their cutie marks ,

In both appearances the flim flam brothers used apples in their products,

they also share a color scheme with apple bloom, 

if anything , apple bloom looks more related to them than she does her own family.

 

I'm not sure about this and I can't seem to find anything online relating to this , so what do you guys think, Are the flim flam brothers members of the apple family?

I feel like AppleJack Granny Smith would know if they were part of their family.

I doubt that they are related.

 

Good point, with the apple family so tight knit, they would have pointed it out if they were,

but it's still a little strange to me how they never brought up their apple-like cutie marks or their "apple" products

perhaps their on a similar situation to pinkie pie but more related to the apple family. 

 

another thought is that they may be a diect apple

but they never have attended the apple family reunion ,

considering themselves outcasts, due to their "innovative" nature.

I find it hard to believe every pony with an apple cutie mark is a relative to the Apples. Or that everypony who shares the same or similar color scheme is related, when there are hundreds of thousands of ponies in the country of Equestria. It's completely unrealistic to even assume tht same cutie mark or color means same family.

have an apple motif in their cutie mark  design.

This trend seems to span throughout equestria,

as the apple family  reunion shows their family from all over equestria all have apple motifs in their design.

We have also yet to see an official apple-cutie mark that's not a member of the apple family.

It's not impossbile that flim and flam aren't apples but it's also not unrealistic to say they could be.

neither Aunt or Uncle Orange or Great Aunt Applesauce had apple cutie marks, and they were related. Some apple family members also had baked goods as thier marks.

The oranges aren't apples, I don't really know their exact relation,

but i'm going to assume it's applejack's family on her mother's side.

add to that, granny smith doesn't have an apple mark either,

maybe their apple-marks are implied rather than shown, like apple pies, tarts, and seedlings(or whatever you call apple sauce's mark). 

Despite not being all apple motifs , it's still a a strong enough trend that matches up with the flim flam brothers,

On a side note, if the flim flam brothers aren't apples, it would be interesting to see an anti-version of the apple family that the flim flam brothers would be a part of. Sort of like a dishonest, criminal , clan of swindlers.

They are referred to as relatives and they do attend the apple family reunion.

I never noticed, that. It's a little strange for me to think about them being oranges but also apples.

they could still be extended family members(applejack's mother's side) who are close enough to the family to attend

afterall , apple jack has been known to allow non-apples into the reunion. 

We haven't seen babs' cutie mark yet, though it is still possible for her to have an apple motif in her design.

Who knows. Just for the record just because they are related to one another they don't have to be good guys. Babs Seed for instance was a bad guy once.

The Episode "Pinkie apple pie",

would suggest that they may not know all the apples.

So it's possible that Granny smith and Apple jack

wouldn't know that flim and flam are related to the apple family.

It is possible though if they are they are probably distantly related, with that said it is likely that not every member of the Apple Family has an apple related cutie mark and that not everypony with an apple related cutie mark is a member of the Apple Family.
