To be honest, I'm just getting back into it. I haven't played it in a while because I lost interest, but I wanted to give it a chance again, and am glad I did! I really like New Leaf so far :P. I mean I even set the town tune as the MLP theme, so if that doesn't show I plan to get more into AC, I don't know what will.

Funny thing is, I'm playing it as I type this.

Animal Crossing was my favorite game ever about a decade and three years ago... Geez, that makes me feel old. o.O However, Wild World did not quite meet my expectations (although it did a lot of really good things) and City Folk made me very cynical. Lol. That game was neither good as a sequel nor as a standalone title.

New Leaf is a great game, and restored my hope in the series, as they finally made a game worthy of being called a sequel to the GCN version. It's not perfect, and there still is so much to be built upon. However, it was a step in the right direction.

...But in the end, I didn't play it much longer than I did City Folk. I guess I'll attribute that to generally growing up. Video games just don't amuse me like they did prior to a decade ago. New Leaf was a shining example of this, a purely good sequel that didn't make me addicted again.

Anyway... Sorry about that. Lol. Happy Home Designer is really fun, too. A nice spin-off title for the series. At first it didn't look like it was going to be much, but in the end it ended up being a fantastic stand-alone AC spin-off. I hope the improvements made to building (and outdoor designing, as well!) are implemented into the next AC. Even still, it still has limitations which are odd to me, some things are even more limited than in the mainline AC titles, believe it or not. (objects can not be placed as close to trees)

Honestly, I wouldn't mind a Happy Home Designer sequel, as well.

Well Animal Crossing has been my favorite since GCN days so I'm pretty sure I liked the GCN Animal Crossing since you can play NES games and use the right colors for the patterns. At a Longest time, I haven't played Wild World and City Folk. They may be boring, but there's not much to offer to go around in those 2 games aside from keep updating my turnip prices. As for new leaf, I'm pretty sure it's a good game to go around even though you can do island tours. The Toughest parts are filling up bug & fish collection and making money. Usually Making money should be easy, but not easy to get a high turnip price although the good side is that you can store turnips in the storage and the basement so it's easier just to make money at another town that fast.

A game I have sunk far too many hours into since Wild World on the DS. I love the world and its characters, even love the slow grind each day just to build a better home. :adorkable: New Leaf has been especially addicting thanks to its whole "city builder" element, and a number of quality of life changes just to make certain things in old games less frustrating. (You're never getting your job back, Resetti!  :icwudt:)

Not sure about the Spin-off's like Happy Home Designer, I'll admit I'd forgotten about them. From the sounds of a couple of the comments above though it might be something worth checking out in the future, maybe.

Show meeeeee.....

I really like this game, too. I wish I had more friends who played it, though, since that seems to be an important part of the game.

I've only had the game for a little while, so my town is pretty barren. My favourite part of the game is making custom designs.

It's not really my cup of tea. It's incredibly repetitive, which begets boredom, absolutely 100% reliant on cheap Skinnerbox tactics to make you keep playing, it punishes you for not playing by having people move out (and the people that are still there yell at you), and while the characters each have their own sort of personality, it's not nearly deep enough to carry the game. The characters are all flat, never changing, and typically only have one or two quirks that completely describe them (i.e. this guy is a pink mudpuppy that is trying to be a stand-up comedian... that's it, nothing else, there is nothing more to him and there never will be).

The only winning move in Animal crossing is not to play as they say, and according to my brother, I'm the only one that won the game after playing it... I'll tell the story, but it gets pretty dark... If you don't want to know, or are really sensitive to any dark topics of conversation, I advise you to not read what's behind the spoiler tag... but if you like creepypasta, I'm pretty sure this would be right up your alley. tl;dr I have a really really messed up sense of humor...

I never actually owned an animal crossing game, I simply played my own profile on my brother's New Leaf game. When I realized how dull the game was, and how I had already done everything there is to do, I sort of made my own goal... to go out with a bang...

A month or two later, my brother was commenting on how all of the villagers were wondering where I went, and how they hadn't seen me in such a long time. I advised him to check out my house, and he'll know where my character went. Curious, as you can't really "go" anywhere else once you create a profile, he entered my house to see what I meant. The wallpaper and floor was the ramshackle design, so it looked like nobody had taken care of the place in a long time. A sad song played on the music box in the corner of the room. The furniture was mostly unchanged from when he last saw the house other than in the center of the room, there was a wooden platform with a post extending out of the middle of it, before it arched off at a 90 degree angle to one side. I forgot the actual name of the decoration, but I remember thinking it looked something like an execution platform, and right next to the wooden platform was a pile of bones (hooray for the Halloween event! I also dressed my character as a skeleton in case anyone saw him when visiting my brother's village in a dream)... Yes, I hung myself in animal crossing, and as long as I never play it again, it's pretty much cannon that my villager committed suicide.

Animal Crossing is one of my favorite gaming series! ^___^ The games are so relaxing, fun and easygoing, I consider them to be a very positive experience in video games which is nice considering how many games nowadays focus on negatives things. The whole real time aspect is really cool even to this day though my only gripe is that is makes night time very boring or in the case of New Leaf, it makes at least half of the day boring with very little to do in that downtime.

Still, this is a series I love deeply and I really hope a Wii U game is made eventually, a full-fledged AC title. :3 When I got my New 3DS I had to start a new file on New Leaf but I am enjoying it immensely. My 3DS code is on my profile if anyone wants to add me. For the record New Leaf is my favorite in the series, with the original close behind it. Wild Word was really good too for its time, though it felt much slower paced.

WHAT! Night time is probably one of the best times in ACNL, you got the island and bug hunt. You can easily make 300k a night because the best and most expensive beetles come out at night. c: Definitely has become my nightly ritual.
