Did Starlight Glimmer Have Friends Growing Up?

I get the feeling Party Favour, Sugar Belle, Double Diamond and Night Glider were Starlight's friends ever since they were fillies and have followed her belief in equality until they learned she had kept her own cutie mark.

 

Do you think this is true? Please don't post any possible spoilers from the season five finale (particularly from one of G.M. Berrow's upcoming books).

We don't know enough about Starlight Glimmer to know what her life was like. And Party Favor, Sugar Belle, Double Diamond and Night Glider were friends with each other, but I doubt they were with Starlight(otherwise they would have tried to help her rather than go after her)

 

It's possible that she had friends, but she probably broke away from them down the line

My theory is that she did have friends when she was younger, but her ideals probably pushed them away and that made her resent them. She seems like a pony that had social issues growing up. I can sure relate to that aspect at least.

I don't think they were. Like Double Diamond seemed to be one of Starlight's most faithful followers, and he found his skis where he first met Starlight. I'm pretty sure the implication there is that he got equalized when he first met her, left his skis behind, and became one of her first followers. From there they started creating Our Town near those mountains. Night Glider, Sugar Belle, and Party Favor also joined later, falling under the belief that giving up their cutie marks is a good thing for harmony and to become close friends with Starlight and the rest of the villagers.

It didn't seem like any of the Our Town ponies knew each other prior to their equalization.  

 

As @Marimo said, Double Diamond was Starlight's right-hoof pony, going along with her scheme and even keeping watch on the activities of the other ponies.  Sugar Belle and Party Favor seemed almost desperate to recover their cutie marks and were making clandestine moves to do so.  If they'd been friends in the past, I don't think there'd be such a separation between them.

 

Plus, none of the ponies in Our Town spoke directly to Starlight about their troubles.  If she'd been a good friend to them in the past, I'd think they'd have been more comfortable bringing the matter up with her directly.

These characters( Sunset Shimmer and Starlight Glimmer) are just basically what Twilight could have been... No friends=a sociopath. Sunset Shimmer actually became her own unique character though... Seems Glimmer might just be a repeat.
