How common do you think cybernetic/magi-tek prosthetics are?

so here's a question. How common do you think fully functional prosthetics are in MLP?

Dash in the cutie remark timeline had a fully functional metal wing, which shows that, at least in that timeline, its possible to create metal prosthetics that are controllable by the pony they are attached to.

 

So, do you think that's a magically enchanted prosthetic, or a mechanical prosthetic? Do you think that Its a technology or magecraft developed SOLELY in the Sombra timeline and not available in the Prime timeline? Do you think its incredibly expensive, slightly expensive or common?


We've never seen any pony besides Dash have a functional part after all, even though ponies with non-functional limbs are shown to exist (like the wheelchair pony from rainbow falls), so its probably that there's a reason for them not being common.

 

 

Also, how good do you think such wings are? Auto-mail like quality from FMA so they're 100% as good as normal flesh and blood ones? Clumsy and awkward and its only because dash is so good that she can fly with it?

The prothetic was likely exclusive to the Sombra future. Much like in real life (and in Fallout: Equestria), the war effort would cause every industry to make drastic leaps and bounds in order to contribute. Loss of limbs would be a more common occurrence in a war-torn nation than in a peaceful Equestria and so medical advancements like prosthetics would need to adapt to compensate.

 

It's unclear though if the wing was nothing more than a glorified glider in order to help her fly or if she can still feel anything through it. Dash could probably make up any imbalances by pure skill anyway.

The setting's tech level is all "old-timey" - While this runs the gamut from ancient Roman stuff, to medieval stuff, to some bits and pieces of 19th century stuff (like the train, but Faust didn't even want a train in Over a Barrel), they don't have anything really "modern", let alone anything more advanced than what we actually have in real life.

 

So yeah. Assuming that was an actual prosthetic and not just wing armor..

Anyways, for my views on it:

Its magical technology like Tanks helicopter. In that it relies on scientific principals in how its motions work (like how tanks uses a helicopter blade instead of just levitating) but its power source is purely magical.

 

its 100% just as useable as a normal wing like automail in the full metal alchemist universe is just as dextrous as normal limbs once you've gotten acustomed to them.

It exists in the MLP universe normally, but its INCREDIBLY expensive. You need a high level unicorn on par with Twilight or celestia to make it.

 

As such, Dash in her universe is only allowed it due to being a high ranked member in the army (She was saluted by pinkie and maud after all, implying rank)

 

 

 

 

I kind of like to think you could even have far more technical stuff added onto mechanical parts (like how some auto-mail had guns or other gadgets hidden in them in FMA), but due to the rarity of Ponies able to craft such things its not something you'll see often.

I think that they were just only in the sombra alternate timeline.

I don't think that level of technology is commonplace or exists in the universe the show takes place in.  Or at least normally.

Not sure about that but Sombra's mind controlling helmets are likely magitech because all of Sombra's traps and locks are magic oriented.
