why not make an thing that works the same but would say [hide] for instances like images that are large so that spoiler tag was used for spoiler things just and idea.

Or you can just simply use a spoiler and put a title above it. I don't see the point of having two features with different names that do the same thing.

For what purpose? Is this motivated by a desire to improve load times or data useage?

Um no just to make spoilers for well spoilers and hide for everything else there has to of been times when someone has opened a spoiler and spoiled it if there was hide and spoiler it would remove such problems, so I guess it's for load times?

There is also no rule indicating someone has to use spoilers for images ... And if you open it and there is text ... I would suggest not reading it

Doesn't this basically work the same as the spoiler we already have? As @Jeric stated above me, there is no rule saying they have to spoiler images. Usually threads with "spoilers" are tagged spoilers, which you can see before you open the thread.
