i became a brony within seconds

I started liking the show after a couple of episodes, but it was the fact I  would not call myself a Brony because I didn't watch the entire thing so I could keep up with recent discussion.

I was never an anti brony, I was always neutral and really didn't care but I have a friend who is an anti brony, he knows but since we've been together for a long time he decided it's not worth losing me as a friend over.

I wasn't an anti-brony but when I wasn't brony it was kinda weird for me, that older men than me are watching this show, but I think it's normal reaction on this for the most of 12-13 years old boys.

I definitely disapproved of bronies at first. I wasn't actively insulting them or anything, but I was very much against the idea of a girl over the age of twelve liking My Little Pony, let alone male teenagers and adults. I had no problem with people liking unusual things considering their gender and age group; I just thought bronies were pushing it a little. That all changed when curiosity overtook my mind and I decided to check out season one on Bin Weevils. I decided it wasn't so bad, but a couple of years later I completely fell in love with the show when me and my friend (who introduced me to this amazing fandom) watched it together.

Nooope. I was never anti, I loved MLP from the start and never judged a soul for what they liked either. Gender doesn't matter. I always loved cartoon and anime, so I was already weird to begin with.

Before watching, I just thought "ew, there's no way I'm watching that". A few of my friends liked it at the time and I thought it was strange, but I didn't insult them like a lot of anti-bronies do today. I didn't distance myself from them because they liked a TV show either.

I used to be an anti brony. Do you want a reason why? It was simple, I was a stupid 11-12 year old on the internet doing what stupid 11-12 year olds do best, write pointless hate comments at things for no reason. I think that's how most anti bronies are. Anyway, after a while I realised "It's literally just a group of people who like a show. I am a whovian. Whovians are the bronies of Doctor Who. There is no difference.", and after that, I watched the series on youtube "Doctor Whooves and Assistant", and after seeing the fandom had such a large Doctor Who part of it, I really had to join.

(I'm not saying all 11 year olds are annoying and stupid, But I was, and so are a large amount of them. Then again, I'm a 9th grader, and there's lots of us that are annoying, too.)

I used to be an anti-brony. When I first signed up for this forum a few years ago I admittedly signed up just to troll. I used to make anti-brony Youtube vids. Then I actually watched an episode and loved it.

As time has gone by I'm not a brony anymore but I still understand the appeal of the show and why people like it and definitely regret not watching the show before flinging shit at it and the fanbase.

I don't think I've ever been "anti-brony", but at first I was a little confused as to why people seemed so hyped up over a show about ponies.

Then again, when I first learned about MLP, I had never actually heard of it anywhere. I just saw someone on an old forum I used to visit use pony pictures all the time when she posted, but I wasn't even aware what it was, so yeah, couldn't have been anti-brony at that point.

I didn't really learn about bronies until after I started watching it.

Edit: Just reading that back, it made it sound like I've never heard of MLP. I grew up knowing of the old MLP and I never liked it, so yeah. xD

I would definitely never have called myself 'anti-brony', but I was sort of against the show for a few years, sub-consciously. It took me from about November 2014 to February 2015 to start to identify as a brony. One of my friends would occasionally take a light jab at the fandom every so often (like equating bronies to brownies, for some reason). Early this year, he was saying something along the lines of all bronies being whiny ten-year-olds, when I came out and told him I was a brony. He was slightly taken aback, and asked "Really?" I just nodded, and he immediatly dropped the topic. He has never made a mean-spirited joke about bronies since. Now he only makes fun of me. ^_^

I'm still sort of a way an anti-brony. With all the misanthropy and pony superiority complex quite a few member of this fandom preaches. That all humans are evil scum and need to be converted into ponies.

I don't care if we are doomed to die on this finite world. Alien horses coming to Earth to commit 'soft' xenocide on humanity makes me angry.

From what I've seen, the whole 'misanthropy ideal' is rather outmoded in the fandom, being most popular from about 2012-13. I've never seen anyone who seriously believes that humans deserve to be forcibly turned into ponies. If we're talking fanfiction here, then some of the best (good story and high-quality writing), in my opinion, are the ones where humans and ponies are equally fascinated by each other.

If you're referring to The Conversion Bureau, then I think that there are far more who are more who are fascinated by the idea than actually subscribe to it. It's like a "you love to hate it" sort of thing, like Fall of- uh... something or other.

Im surprised that so many Bronys were anti Bronies.

For me, i never was. Why would i? Im not the Guy to hate on someone else. I would never do that.

Even in my time as a Troll on Youtube, i was always joking. ( and again, sorry if you know my Trollself, its gone now forever. )

I mean, even as a Troll, when someone got upset at me, i always posted, that i liked the stuff i was shortly hating on. I simply said Mlp was better, but i never really hated on anything.

Not massivly, but i did hear about them one day when i was younger and found it weired, which made me react in a manner i regret now. But it was one of those 'forget it the next day' moments and the time i heared about them next i was watching the show in person!

I was not against it or anything but I was some what opposed to the idea of the fandom, until there was a time where I had to babysit my niece and she was watching MLP episodes on the TV and since I had nothing to do I might as well watch it with her and see why people liked watching it, then it was after that moment when I slowly liked the show and watch it every now and then and eventually found this forums and yeah. :D :D

  • 2 weeks later...

Well I never hated bronies but, I still feel very guilty about being one of those "fake bronies" before I actually checked the show out :( . It was really uncool but I wanted to see the reaction of one of my brony friends on WhatsApp, thus became a "fake brony". So I started chatting with my Friend who is a brony about mlp, replying about information from the mlp wikia. He was really happy to meet another one from the herd and when he knew I was faking, we just pretend nothing had happened.

Now of course I am actually a brony and love the show legit. Haven't talked to him about the incident but he now really knows I'm not faking :)

To be honest, yeah. When I first discovered the show back in 2011 from a different forum where everyone had changed their avatars to ponies randomly, I thought it was stupid and they were crazy. Now, they were my buddies so I didn't legit hate them for it, but I definitely clowned on them for a long time.

Then of course a year later I got into the show and got why they liked it. But even then... I admit, I still have a little anti-Brony left in me because I love to mess with other Bronies, but hey, it's all in good fun.

Eenope. Never wasted time hating on things I didn't care and wasn't interested in. :P

Of course, I did find bronies quite odd when I first heard about 'em, and also found it a bit odd that MLP was almost everywhere.

I really want to get this off my chest but... I used to be an anti-brony and quite a big one. I was in a school where there were groups of friends that acted like a rank almost. I was at the bottom of the bottom and I was kicked out of that group and was alone so much that I bought a tamagotchi for company. They were bronies and I didn't share their views because I hadn't seen it. I thought it wasn't natural and I was just angry at them because, MLP aside, they were bad friends in the first place but the only ones that I had. I watched a tiny bit of secret of my excess at some point in 2012 and slammed the lid of my laptop because I was in denial about liking it. That made me be even more anti-brony because I guess I didn't want to like it and that was the only way. I feel horrible for what I was and are soooooooooo superly hugely sorry for everything. I realise now that I don't have to be in denial now. Those views I had were stupid and it pains me to think that I used to be that person. I became a brony about two to three months ago now. I am so sorry.

I have felt like this too. I was anti and wanted nothing to do with the fans or the show. That was in 2011. Fast forward four years to when I started watching it and became a huge fan of it, and now I regret my past views. I should have been more open-minded and less judgmental.

I never was. Back when i was a tiny little lad, i found some obscure game of it. even though it was for my sister, i played it more than she did. i eventually grew out of it. years later in 2013, i heard about a thing called a brony and a whole different version of MLP So, i decided to try the show. It was slow at first, but i later got hooked.
