Which character was the most redeemable in the show

People might think im insane for saying this since she was SO OFTEN portrayed as terrible and incredibly mean but: Diamond Tiara. Ultimately she's still just a kid, so I could buy "her attitude is a product of her enviroment" pretty easily and that under better influence she could turn out far better, even if the actual turn around was very fast.

RARITY IS THE BEST PONY EVER

Gilda was one of the very, very, very few believable ones. She became the way she did due to having somewhat of a hard life living in a rundown town, she lost a childhood friend after a terrible falling out but she still had feelings for her and was still willing to save her when she was in trouble

They're not perfect, but I'd say Gilda and Diamond Tiara worked the best because they were the most down to earth redemptions, no bullshit "we tried to destroy the world/enslave everyone but we're sorry we're good now" and then montage of them dancing happily with the Mane 6. Just two characters who became bullies because of unfortunate circumstances and then tried to change when they realized what their problems were

Honorable mention goes to Sunset because, despite her initial redemption in the first movie being so rushed and so poorly handled, they more than made up for it in RR by having her actually having to earn everyone's good will and trust

Diamond Tiara and Gilda - Probably the best ones. Diamond Tiara was forced by her parents to be the way she was and her actions were taught to her by her mother who is controlling and cares only of status, power, wealth and influence. Why they are even in ponyville I have no idea thought. As for Gilda, where she grew up in the slums of equestria-it makes sense that she would end up like that.

Trixie - She was not really redeemed per se. She wanted some degree of revenge against Twilight by beating her in a magic duel, but her actions were mostly the fault of the evil alicorn amulet. She probably never would had done any of what she did if it were not for the amulet corrupting her. I have head cannon that her mother was the great and powerful Insert name. And after she died or whatever and left trixie the hat and cape as the only possessions she had, she got into stage magic and adopted the name. so, anypony who tries to make her seem lesser than great is almost like an attack on her mother. Which would explain why she got so upset at twilight for making a fool of her. Not to mention how she could not find any work after what happend and her lively hood was tarnished.

Discord - I don't think he should had been reformed. I like the episode it was done in, but it was done far too easily. He would had made a far better reoccuring villain.

Starlight - This really was a rush job. I really felt like she should had at least 1-2 other episodes of her returning to do bad things. More character development before the cutie remark.

I'll agree with everyone else, I think it's Diamond Tiara & Gilda as well, the former more so than the latter. She's a kid who was bullying others, while the latter's an adult who was bullying others. It's much more believable & goes smoother when they are redeemed, compared to when someone who tried to destroy and/or conquer the world is redeemed. :P

Got to go with Gilda and Discord. The performance of Fluttershy and Discord nailed it, Discord betrayed by Tirek cemented it. Gilda's reformation came out good too. When her only friend was at the brink of death Gilda sacrifices the Griffon idol to save Rainbow Dash.

Tie between Diamond Tiara and Gilda for me. Like M'gann said, DT IS still just a filly. And Gilda...was one of those characters who, after her first appearance, just made me think "There has to be more to her than this." And I'm glad they showed more of her life and backstory. I think her second appearance was a very well written episode that brought out some character development in her, with a heartwarming hug to boot.

Agreed. Lots of bullies in real life grew up in abusive homes and it's realistic. I actually do not like Diamond Tiara as a character, but it's an understandable excuse.
