movies/tv A General Question About Abridged Animes

So I've been trying to look at other people's abridged anime series on Youtube and I've been seeing a recurring pattern.

Why do I feel like Team Four Star got it right with DBZ? I wanted to see if there was one for JoJo's Bizarre Adventure and sure enough, there it was. However it had poor audio, bad voice acting, a black frame around it and it just wasn't funny. That also occurred in the One Punch Man Abridged series too. Three iterations of the same anime and none of them were funny. Granted most of the DBZ abridged wasn't funny to me either but the pacing feels perfect to me.

That must be another problem too. The pacing. Team Dai-Gurren's version of One Punch Man had the first three done somewhat right, but it wasn't funny and the pacing was way too fast.

There is the whole "I don't see you doing any better" argument. That's the thing, I WANT to do better but why do one if other people did it first?

"Do a different anime that people didn't do before"? Kinda hard for me to do when it's hard to follow all the Japanese names.

I had (keyword: had) an interest in doing a Psycho Pass Abridged but surprise surprise: it's taken.

TL:DR

Is Team Four Star the only people who got it right with an abridged series? Is there another one that's actually good and funny? Besides something that involves any of the Team Four Star members? Like Hellsing?

However, the Witchblade anime doesn't have an Abridged series. Hmmmmm... :dash:

There is the Yu Gi Oh Abridged series which if I recall was one of the first ones ever and it was done pretty decently too. Not perfect but for being one of the earliest abridged series, it was pretty good. There is also None Piece but it jumbled around a lot. It seems Team Four Star is the only one to make a high quality production and keep it going for a long, long time. They might have many resources now to keep it going though, something that many people may not have.

Much like Kyoshi mentioned above, I do feel like Yu Gi Oh abridged had really great production value in its later episodes, between using the actual shows sounds effects and soundtrack, it felt like watching an actual episode at times. Littlekuriboh did a fantastic job voicing almost the entire cast for the longest time too. :) It pretty much gave a huge surge in popularity to the actual product itself.

I have to second Yu-Gi-Oh! The Abridged Series. I thought it was pretty funny. LittleKuriboh(or CardgamesFTW) does a pretty awesome job of mimicking some of the 4kids voice actors for the show(like Yugi and Kaiba).

Yu Gi Oh and DBZ seem to be the ones that have really "got it" and a lot of that has to do with a lot of people supporting it, so they tend to get some better production values down the line.

And while I've never seen them myself, I've heard some good things about Sailor Moon Abridged and Naruto Abridged

A lot of people step up to the position of starting an abridged series, but stop shortly after or midway because it ends up being too much work for them.

They also don't have the proper microphones and video editing programs. (Along with poor video editing skills) Hence why the audio is too quiet or not synced properly.

So, I COULD start something already done like Jojo's Bizarre Adventure? If I give my all (while making time for life and working a regular job like TFS), people can forgive that it's already done if I don't give up?
