music Video Game Musicians

Again, I was not able to find a thread on this topic, so I feel safe in posting.

I, for one, am a fan of music based on video games. Not all of it is good, but it opens up a lot of possibilities. Music that is indirectly inspired by videos games, reference video games, or even about video games.

Being a huge gamer, I love listening to video game music, as well as songs based on video games. Some of my favorite artists are Screen Team and The Warp Zone, who mostly make parodies of other popular songs (but they do a lot more than music). Additionally, I quite like video game rappers such as JT Machinima, Dan Bull, and occasionally VideoGameRapBattles.

TryHardNinja and TeamHeadKick have some good songs, as well. I Fight Dragons is by far my favorite chiptunes artist.

What video game songs or artists do you enjoy the most, assuming that you are a fan?

Are talking about composers, fan musicians or both? As far as composers, I'm usually a sucker for Nobuo Uematsu(Final Fantasy), Koji Kondo(Nintendo), Noriyuki Idaware(Ace Attorney), Michael Giacchino(Medal of Honor) and just about anything by the Megaman X and Persona teams.

As for fan music, Breis and U-GEN has some awesome Megaman remixes

Both, depending on your interests. I forgot to include it in my post, but Crush 40 and Inon Zur are my favorite video game soundtrack composers. Also, and I can't remember the composer(s) off the top of my head, but the MGS4 soundtrack was pretty sweet (especially the theme  :D  ).

If you count a capella, then I enjoy Smooth McGroove's content. In terms of those who make original music for video games, then I really enjoy the work of Yoko Shimomura (Street Fighter II and Parasite Eve).

Koji Kondo, Nobuo Uematsu, and David Wise have delivered some consistently memorable pieces.  I'm still very fond of the stage 1-1 theme from the original Super Mario Bros; I was young enough when I first heard it that I would sometimes get it confused with the Sesame Street theme. xD  I've also enjoyed the soundtracks throughout the Castlevania and Mega Man series, and my favorite video game soundtrack is that of Mother 2 (Earthbound).

I personally enjoy music the composers make for Kirby games. As a nintendo fan, I must say in my opinion that Kirby has the best nintendo music of all time! c:

I also love Koji Kondo (Mario and Zelda), Kelly Bailey (Half-Life), and Mike Morasky (Team Fortress 2 and Portal).

David Wise and Nobuo Uematsu have got to be my favorite composers in terms of more famous ones. Another favorite of mine is Béatrice Martin who was the composer for Child of Light, which has one of my favorite gaming soundtracks ever.

Well in terms of actual video game composers, I'd have to say Martin O'Donnell and Kazuma Jinnouchi are the two that stick out the most for me :D mostly because their work is what has influenced me the most with the Halo soundtracks.

I used to watch a lot of JT Machinima's videogame songs back in the halo 3 days also :P
