I have noticed that when I create my characters I create characters who do bad things or work towards bad goals but with no apparent reasoning.

I may be a bit insane but I want to know who else does this

I tend to go for variable but generally more heroic than villainous, but sometimes a straight-up villain is quite enjoyable. It's not MLP, but whenever I play a Warhammer 40k RP campaign my characters tend to be quite nasty pieces of work (be they Imperial or Chaos.)

Sometimes when my younger brother invites me to play with his friends (yes, he does that lol) I normally play as Villan- oh, we are talking about OCs? so um...

...

MLP Villans/Anti-Heroes need a good backstory and some not-normal appearence excluding Starlight which is something I kind of lack.

I like playing Anti-Heroes mostly because its soooo welcomed in RPs and in general. Yes, goody two shoes heroes are great AND HAVE GOOD BACKSTORIES, SOMETIMES, but right now its watered down with terrible ones. Im speaking in the matter of Marvel and DC as well as Video Games and role-plays. Although, i have seen people abuse this dynamic with horrible back stories like "He was the wife of Luna and son of Discord so he was doomed to be a bad pony from the start".

My characters are always callous assholes who will cut off heads if someone looks at them funny, but who will respect certain other characters and fight for them to the death...if it suits his goals to do so. If a friend of his would try to stop him, that friend would soon be minus a head because the goal comes first, and any life comes second at best.

Unfortunately that also gets watered down with people who intentionally play villains to gain an advantage or "win" a RP. And media and RP are two different things; whether you are a good character, evil one, or somewhere in between, you have to know that RP does not revolve around you and if you really want to be a villain you have to deserve it.

I always find it more fun being "the bad guy"... I dunno why... though I only do it if I truly believen their goals... or if they pay me more than the heros.

It depends on the game, but normally I play as the hero even though I tend to relate with many villains. Also, villains normally look cooler than heroes.
