Discordian 6,015 April 6, 2016 Share April 6, 2016 Sorta furry here. Did you need anything specific or were you just looking to find some friends? I have no fursona and take on real part in the fandom but I can point you to many good furry comics and a few artists too.
King Sejong 859 April 6, 2016 Share April 6, 2016 Hello, I have been a furry for longer than a decade, for I have been a brony for about four years, nevertheless, there are some similarities between the fandoms. The bronies may revolve around the pony tribes and the occasional griffon, furries encompass the whole animal kingdom, canines, felines, deer, rabbits, rodents and yes, ponies, so I can not say for certain, that there are any unique rules, since bronies and furries do overlap, I can recommend looking for fellow furries on the MLP forums, next, try furry forum or fur 4 life, they might have some good fans to talk to, if not, then MLP forums has plenty of furries who are also bronies. Most of us have a fursona, an animal character we like to be, for me, my fursona is a wolf-dog, moreover, I can only say, if you want to find furry friends, look here first, no matter what fandom you wish to be be a part of, try to have fun, look for good fans, and keep a open mind, try not to let negative feedback from keeping you from good people, finally, once you find friends, keep them close, and welcome to the furry fandom.
Comic Sans 401 April 6, 2016 Share April 6, 2016 * i'm.. kind of a furry, i guess. i joined the fandom literally in february last year, have a fursona, been to several meet ups, spent one day at a convention, that same convention that i am now attending for the entire duration this year, next month to be exact, but overall, i don't do a lot of stuff relating to it anymore. * i don't attend meets anymore, i don't draw furry stuff anymore or much care for art related to it. i seem to see it as more of a passing phase, but i do still consider myself to be one to some degree just because.. well, why not. Trixie Heartstrings 434 April 6, 2016 Share April 6, 2016 I'd consider myself a furry, but I'm not exactly an active furry. I comment on the furry subreddt, but that's about it. I'd love to go to conventions, along with other things. My fursona is still a work in progress if any of you are wondering(as of now, it's a bear). Denim&Venöm 18,842 April 6, 2016 Share April 6, 2016 I've been a furry in one way shape of form for as far back as I can remember. But I haven't been to meet ups or join online communities. I only look at the art, watch the video's, read the comics. One day I'd like to have a fur suit. But I do enjoy the style and the ideas behind it. I hope you do to.
glitterbomb 162 April 6, 2016 Author Share April 6, 2016 Thank you all for the hello's! How do you come up with a fursona? Come check out my commission store or visit my deviantart. Ask me about art trade. Pinkie Pie Best Pony <
Discordian 6,015 April 6, 2016 Share April 6, 2016 Everyone does it differently. Some just do it the same way they'd make any pony OC. Pick an animal you like, make a personality, etc. Others like to imagine what they'd think their spirit animal would be or what they would be if they were an animal. It all depends on you, really.
GeekySonic 1,150 April 6, 2016 Share April 6, 2016 I'm not much of a furry anymore, myself. I simply did not have a very enjoyable experience in the fandom in recent years. But it's still something I hold to a high regard, as being a furry was a very fun part of my childhood. I hope it's more fun for you. captainborgue 343 April 6, 2016 Share April 6, 2016 I've been a furry since internet browsers had a "text only" option. As one of the first 'fandoms' to really make a home on the internet, Furries have been around a while- the amount of content is massive. In a lot of ways, Furries were the precursor to Bronies. There is almost nothing the Brony fandom has that Furries didn't have 20 years ago. A word of caution from a grizzled old grizzly- the Furry fandom has very little insulation between all ages and explicitly adult. The same portals, the same artists, can go from kid friendly to hardcore yiffing at the drop of a hat. Just like with everything else on the internet, exercise caution.
Rio 39 April 6, 2016 Share April 6, 2016 Also a furry! Since around 2009 when I found out exactly what it was.I mostly just keep tabs on art and attend conventions on a semi-regular basis.I cannot say I really 'draw' furry art much if at all anymore, but if I get inspiration I'll doodle. The fandom is nice if you know where to look. However, be aware that not everyone is friendly. Drama is something that happens on a regular basis similar to most Fandoms.

Sketchy Tail 206 April 6, 2016 Share April 6, 2016 I'd consider myself a furry, I have a fursona and love the art everyone makes in the fandom, I just don't have a fursuit. Yet.
darkwingmare 1,319 April 6, 2016 Share April 6, 2016 I'd love to join the fandom, too. I'm not creative and willing enough to make a suit, I'm too lazy and unmotivated. Kudos to those who actually build and make a complete suit. However, I'd love to try out the OC thing and such. Zootopia opened the world to a new world of furries, didn't they? I haven't watched it yet but I really hope the reputation isn't as bad now that the movie is so popular. enjoying the art makes you a furry? IF that's the case then i'm one too without even noticing it :S. Ilove seeing the art and the costumes the furry fandom makes Of course, people who make furry suits are just furry cosplayers. If you enjoy the art, the idea and costumes of others, you're most definitely a furry. It isn't a bad thing! 1 “You have brains in your head. You have feet in your shoes. Ziggy + Angel + Rain 11,302 April 6, 2016 Share April 6, 2016 Despite gravitating towards non-human individuals most of my life and being in love with a wonderful lady pegasus, I've never considered myself a furry. I am, however, furry-friendly (that's not a term, probably xD) and hold a generally neutral-to-positive outlook towards the furry fandom. 1 "It uses the faculty of what you call imagination. Mesme Rize 15,683 April 6, 2016 Share April 6, 2016 I also consider myself a furry. Though, i tend to be more fixated on reptiles, like snakes and dragons. Would that make me more a scaly? 2 My OC Mesme Rize: >https://mlpforums.com/page/roleplay-characters/_/mesme-rize-r8777 Thank you Randimaxis for this Wonderful Avatar. Tao 7,684 April 6, 2016 Share April 6, 2016 Im more of a sideline furry and with at least two funsona's i play around with! Mostly I tip toe around the furry side and keep on the gray and not into the dark side.....the dark side of the furry fandom scares me... I know some good kick ass comics/manga if you want some I love to read if you want some links.
Double Clutch 435 April 6, 2016 Share April 6, 2016 I'm a long time furry, though not as active at some. I agree with the sentiment that the fandom isn't what it used to be. I'm not saying its bad, it just doesn't feel the way it did in the past. I mostly concentrated on artists and webcomics I enjoyed. Never got into suiting, but attended the chicago convention for many years. Had a lot of fun, dodged a lot of drama. When I became a Brony I found it was a much better fit for me than the furry fandom. Two of the guys who rent rooms from me are active organizers for meetups and such with the furs still so I still get the stories and the drama, but I really haven't looked back. *Brohoof*

Finding a fried who can filter that stuff out for you is usually a good way to go about it if you wanna stay away from explicit content. Which is why I made my offer in my first post. I can point people to furry comics both mature (not necessarily explicit) and cartoony, and which parts of their website to avoid as they sometimes offer both sorts of content somewhere close together. Night Silent 93 April 6, 2016 Share April 6, 2016 Furry here! I always liked the talking animals that stood on two legs. It was confirmed for me that I was a furry when I played the game Dust: An Eysian Tail.

I never would dare to thing it was a bad thing but seeing I don't really go out to find that much furry content but love it when I encounter it I didn't think I could call myself a furry. I don't care either way to be honest I think the furry fandom is an interesting one and I will never say that it is something bad (maybe I will go to a fur con one day just to meet the people and see for myself what the fuss is about)
