Do you think they might be planning something?

So, I was just casually surfing the net, when it occurred to me that the cartoon side of the My Little Pony franchise turns 30 this year (in September, specifically).  So a couple questions come to mind.

Does anyone think Hasbro or the creators of the current cartoon might be planning something to acknowledge this?

What might they be planning?

And if you were in charge, what would you do to celebrate 30 years of pony?

What I would LOVE for them to do is have an episode featuring a bunch of ponies from the first gens somehow. What better way to celebrate 30 years of animation than to highlight old characters in the modern day? :3 Granted that could get rather cluttered but it depends on how they do it.

If I was in charge, that is what I would do. Showcase ponies throughout the years. :)

A episode 100 esque event would be interesting.

I have hope that Hasbro is sensible enough to go big or go home, tke a page from Pkemon/Yugioh, make both an "My little pny origins" series or movie that mixes ponies from every generation, for fans of every generation. An "originals" toyline that allows us to have first gen ponies in molded plastic, high quality. Hopefully by the time mlp turns 50, Hasbro will have bought the rights to "Them's fighting herds", and give all mlp fans a game with a few of every pony from past generations in a fighting multiplayer game. Blindbags of each generation, Funko's, etc.

I am realistic here and i think Hasbro will make just a little shoutout on Twitter and a commercial on Discovery Family. Maybe some local newspaper will do a report, but that's pretty much it. I think if something was planned, we would've heard of it already.

Make a My Little Pony Generations toyline celebrating all of the MLP gens, then have a special where the current Mane 6 meets major or main characters from past gens that haven't been rebooted yet into FiM(Posey, Surprise, Minty, for examples), and put them on a big adventure(or SoL if they feel it'd work better)

And then have Platinum make an action game out of it

That's how I'd do it at least

The current TV cartoon incarnation of Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles recently did what I think should be considered the gold standard for a cartoon tribute episode. The plot centered on a rift between dimensions which brought together Turtles from two different dimensions, the current one, and the original 1980s incarnation of the cartoon. This episode went so far as to use the character designs from the 80's version (albeit using CGI now) and brought in the original voice actors as well!

Unfortunately, I don't know if Hasbro has committed to continuing the series beyond the movie slated for next year, but if they did something like that, that would be pretty cool.

Trans dimensional turtles was VASTLY better than "Turtles forever" that they did with the 2002 series.

Trans dimensional turtles was a good hearted celebration of the 80s one while doing light hearted ribbing of it for its goofiness: the 80s turtles were still presented as competent and worth respect despite their goofiness.

Turtles forever was nothing but non-stop shitting on the 80s turtles while they screamed "Look at how awesome OUR turtles is and how crappy that old one was! Who'd want to watch THAT, HUH?! We're so cool!"

I'm not sure what they might be up to, but I do hope they are planning something big, especially if we finally get an episode dedicated to Celestia and Luna sometime this season before the finale, if what we saw in the premiere is any indication of that.

I think a shout out to Gen One would be cool or a flash back of G1 in a history ep would be cool.  Hell I would take a EP about Sunbutt and her sister in back in the day.

YESSS!

It would be SO AMAZING to see the childhood favourites drawn in the FiM style!

Being completely unrealistic here - an early release of MLP the movie would be great, too!

I highly doubt that Hasbro will do something huge to celebrate something like this happening.

But then again the 30th anniversary is in September and we know that something else is happening around that time.

The 4th Equestria Girls movie is premiering in the fall and it could possibly be around September when it does so.

I would find it absolutely hilarious if that was the closet the MLP franchise got to a 30th year celebration.

It would be cool if they did an episode, or even a short, with the G4 characters but animated in G1 style.  Maybe Tirek could return briefly, since he was the villain in the very fist episode, and the mane 6 are assisted by Scorpan in foiling him.

It won't happen of course, but it would have been good.

That would be cool...but I highly doubt the litigation would let them :(

They could change Firefly's name, if they were to use her.  The trademark in question is only on the name, not the likeness.  So they could come up with an alias to call her by.  We wouldn't care.  Just the fact that she was there would be enough.

Huh. That would explain why she (and other characters from previous gens) has popped up in the IDW comic...

Exactly.  Not to mention several of the other characters that are in G4 are named after characters from previous gens.  I'd love to see Applejack meet up with a version of her G1 self.  That alone would be amazing to watch, if only for the fact that it would be hilarious to see both of their reactions.

Maybe the mane 6 will go across different dimensions of different cartoons, and parodies them. Imagine like the episode of Power Ponies, but with different cartoon styles.

Seems like a common trope to do in cartoons.
