"LIGHTS OUT, AND AWAY WE GO!!!"

It's that time of the year again! The FIA Formula 1 World Championship has returned for its longest season yet, with 21 races now adorning the calendar, as we travel the world from Australia to Shanghai, Texas, Mexico, Abu Dhabi and all points in between to determine who is the fastest driver in the world and who will grab the title of World Champion in the pinnacle of open wheel racing. :D

Okay, so to be truthful; we're already 3 races in at this point and I have yet to see any thread discussing the season thus far. I'm not sure how many F1 fans are actually present on the forums, but I figured now is the time to have a topic for discussion of this season, especially as we have so far witnessed a fairly exciting first 3 races that has seen Mercedes' Nico Rosberg build up an early lead in the championship whilst reigning champion Lewis Hamilton has fallen prey to what can only be described as a string of bad luck. Add to this a re-surging Ferrari that could potentially bring the fight to Mercedes' doorstep by mid-season, and a highly competitive midfield with some surprise drivers and teams performing strongly, and I think we have the recipe for some fantastic races and battles throughout the season! It's early days yet...

Here's a quick recap of the teams and current drivers/teams standings as of Round 3 in Shanghai:

So with 3 rounds down and the action now set for Sochi, Russia in two weeks time, what are your thoughts on the season thus far? Did you enjoy the first 3 races? Any highlight moments from them or drivers you think are performing admirably? What did you think of the controversial qualifying changes? Do you feel current regulations are diluting the sport as it is? Discuss all this and the season as it unfolds right here! :)

Well, Even tough we have 3 times Rosberg winning, the races this year are definitly more interesting then 2015. Already the start in Australia(Vettel passes both Mercedes and seemed to even could win) to the horror crash with Alonso, the extra driver for McLaren making a point, Haas as a new team surprises with points the first two races and last race with many crashes(And STILL all 22 reached the finish line).

We definitly seeing a more fun season here then 2015, where the most surprises where the 3 Vettel victories and my favourite driver Button driving between 15 and 20 with a few(Rather cheer luck then good car) points at all.

Yeah, China seemed to be more of a demolition derby than a race. Was very surprised to see the full grid make the end. Great recovery's from Kimi and Hamilton too. :)

Rosberg may be running away with it right now, but imo that will hopefully keep the championship alive once Hamilton's misfortune passes and he's able to fight back (I still question whether Nico can beat Lewis in a straight fight..)

I also loved this move from Vettel coming into the pits:

Frustrated German has no time for slowpokes. :P

Button only 13th, still McLaren got better compared to 2015.

McLaren still have a lot of ground to make up, but yeah, it's nice to see them actually able to challenge the mid pack this season. At least Button is keeping optimistic as always. :D

I hope he still drives 2017, then hecan break the record of most F1 starts, beating Schumacher and Barrichello

True enough, I think he's not far off Barrichello's record for most races entered. Give it another season and he'll be the most veteran driver of the lot. Nice legacy to have before your retirement.

Williams, Bennetton, Renault, BAR, Honda, Brawn and McLaren. How many others can say they've driven for that many teams? :P

Welp, after the, alltogether 3, collisions with Vettel in the last 2 races, Kwyat got forced to drive no longer for Red Bull Racing and is the second driver for there smaller team Toro Rosso now, while Verstappen now drives for Red Bull.

So I have seen. Rather embarrassing for the young Russian, especially at his home GP, but he really has no one to blame but himself. His crashes with Vettel also took Riccardo out of contention and resulted in poor finishes for both of them despite a good qualifying Can't image Horner was too thrilled about that.

Curious to see how Verstappen can do now. He's built a bit of a reputation for being a headstrong driver, hopefully he has the discipline to not throw himself recklessly around like Kvyat.

Also Rosbergwinsagainlol.

I was in the future recently, and I did already watch the Spanish Grand Prix. I'm not going to spoil anything, but here is a radio transmission to Verstappen:

"Max, Multi 333."

"NO!"

Welp Massa and Button not driving next year, dunno if I'm that interest to even watch F1 then. Probably will, but beeing boring if no driver to hope and cheer for.

Two drivers that have been in F1 for over a decade finally deciding to pass the baton is not the end of the world.

I'll still be watching. Drivers like Fernando Alonso and Kimi Raikkonen are still around after roughly a decade and a half, and Nico Rosberg is in his eleventh season.

Jenson Button is one of my favorites as well, but at least give it a try. See if anybody else catches your attention enough to keep watching.
